CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
Maaya had come back to wish the two girl's good luck on their journey. She had been expecting maybe a welcome, or a hello, not a thirteen year old cowering away from a spider with Aya trying to shoo it away.
"Get away from my friend spider-Oh hey Maaya!-Before you feel my wrath!" Aya shouted as a very tired looking Aoi came into the room. "Hello Maaya. Welcome back." Aoi said, purposefully standing in front of the spider. "Uh.....hi?"
"SOMEONE FUCKING KILL IT IT'SGETTINGCLOSEROHKAMIHELP" Leyona shrieked, taking a new cyan coloured sword a waving it around. The hilt guard was crafted to look like a piece of paper, and the hilt itself was a dark blue with undertones of gold. A very nice sword, probably crafted by a very skilled swordsmith.
Man, he would hate to see his sword be used this way.
"Don't you guys have a mission or something...?" Maaya asked, tilting her head. Both girls froze at this, and Leyona sheathed her sword as Aya stepped on the spider with a pained expression on her face. The thought poor spider was definitely in her head right now.
"Right. Mission. Hm." Leyona glanced one more time down to the now dead spider, then at Aoi was staring at the squashed spider, then at the door. "Will you be coming with us, or not?" The tone of her voice clearly said which one she prefered, but Maaya chose to ignore it.
"If you want me to, then sure, I'd love to!"
Leyona paled, and looked like she was about to protest, before Aya jumped in with a smile. "Yes please! Although we would like to kill the demon ourselves!" Then proceeded to run out of the estate, Leyona soon following. Maaya was confused until she saw Aoi come back into the room with a frying pan and a dark look on her face.
When had Aoi left the room? Maaya didn't know. What she did know, however, is that an angry Aoi could probably kill Muzan, no questions asked.
Maaya swiftly left the estate.
Shinobu was currently hanging from an exposed pipe and the ceiling, her wings wrapped around her like a bat. To any human that came down her, they would just see a really, really large butterfly.
Before dying seconds later, but that wasn't the point.
She waiting patiently for night to arrive. Somewhere, in the back of her mind, something told her to stop hiding and to walk into the sun.
The demon didn't understand why.
It was like the last shreds of her humanity where begging her to die. But why?
Shinobu was powerful, immortal. She could easily surpass Upper Two, and yet....something about the position made her angry. Terribly, terribly angry. Why?
The demon hung there for a bit, mulling it over. Upper Two hadn't done anything to her in the slightest, actually she didn't even know his name, just his rank and appearance. In fact, when ever she even talked to another Moon, there was always this feeling of disgust and hatred in the deepest corners of her mind.
Obviously demons had something to do with it, which didn't make sense.
Other demons feared her, for good reason. Her poisons where deadly, and she was blinding fast, probably faster then when she was human.
Shinobu finished that train of thought with the conclusion that being a demon was better than being a human.
Then why did every part of her shout in disagreement?
"This is what a train looks like?"
The driver inside saw Leyona staring at the train and waved, but she didn't see him, instead staring at the train. He put his hand down and awkwardly looked at his feet.
The train, in Leyona's view, looked like a long giant black snake, kind of like the ones she used to catch at the pond when she was younger. Counting the cars that made up the snake, she was surprised.
"How big is this thing!?" She exclaimed, stepping closer and staring at the coach. Maaya chuckled, and for once Leyona didn't say something snappy in return. "This particular train hold twenty cars, I've heard." The slayer said, and Leyona's head whipped around. "TWENTY FUCKING CARS!?"
Suddenly, a loud horn blew, and Leyona, who was standing next to it, nearly jumped a meter. Aya looked fine, albeit a bit amused, as if she had been around trains her entire life. Maaya had ridden several trains with Aoi for supply runs.
Poor Leyona, the only one who grew up in the mountains, was the only one who hadn't seen a train before.
"What was that?" Leyona asked, scrambling back to her fellow butterfly girls. Aya laughed, Maaya ruffling Leyona's hair. "I'm serious, what the hell was that-"
"All aboard! Train to Toko City, train to Toko City!"
Maaya leaned back a bit, watching the countryside fly by. Her night vision was superior to probably everyone on the train, for some reason.
Leyona and Aya had fallen asleep on each other's shoulders, and Maaya wished she could document this and save it somewhere. Alas, she couldn't.
The girl had hidden her sword in her kimono, like every other slayer had in past, and looked around the train car, counting windows and exits, checking for demon presences, and seeing which people could be assisting them.
After the Mugen Train incident a few years back, you couldn't be more careful.
The over excited, far to talky Maaya, was all to get information on people. When she hugged Leyona, she could get information on how strong she was at the time, along with Aya's personality at the time.
Maaya's mind was always taking in everything and everyone at all times.
Shattered Legacy Secret
Leyona's birthday is the day Muzan escaped from death, so it very awkward when that day comes up. For no future awkwardness, she lied and said that it was a month after.
