CHAPTER TWENTY

Actually, before the ore, the twin kids had told them about the ranks and such, and the mark on the back of their hands that gave them their status.

Leyona's two thoughts to that where this:

I gotta get to Kinoe quickly. From there I'll ask Kanao how to become a Hashira.

And this:

Wait, when did they tattoo my hand? Excuse me?  Nobody had come close to me aside from other slayers. When did this happen? I did not agree to this.

...

It does look cool though.

Leyona shifted on her feet while waiting for the twins to finish talking. She was getting a bit antsy, wanting to get home, get her injuries treated and then sleep for a week. Aya was even worse, full on leaning on her shoulder and look as if she about to fall asleep at any moment.

Hiari had taken his place beside Kizu and the white haired girl, who name Leyona learned from eavesdropping, was Ai.

The former Sound Pillar had issues if he thought sending his kids out to slay demons was a good idea. Both Kizu and Ai looked terrible, how had Leyona not not noticed that before?

They looked worse than everyone here, the remains of their kimonos actually stained with blood and ripped to shreds. Their old, old slayer uniforms were still there, but also covered in blood, whether it was theirs or the demon's she didn't know.

In the back of her mind she hoped that the blood on Kizu's kimono was the boy's.

Gruesome, but Leyona really didn't like him, and didn't like the way Hiari and Ai would lean away from him as if Kizu had some sort of disease.

She also didn't like the air he gave off, as if he was better than everyone else. Seriously, what was up with this guy?

She shifted her gaze away from the three siblings(Hiari had mentioned that he had a sister named Ai and a brother named Kizu earlier) and looked at the other boy. He had made no move to help them earlier, and Leyona couldn't tell if that was a good or a bad thing.

He was weird.

"....and now pick an ore of your choosing." Was the twin's finishing words. Good. Leyona's foot was about to fall asleep.

The seven demon slayers stepped up, at varying speeds and hesitancy. Leyona was right up there was Kizu and Hinata, Aya following seconds after. Does it really matter what ore we choose? Leyona thought as she examined the lumps of metal.

With a sigh, the girl picked at random, grabbing one that felt right.

Aya took a longer time, eventually picking one near the middle. They waved their goodbyes to Hiari as they exited the mountain, relief weighing on both of them. The first part of their journey was quiet, Aya leaning on Leyona for support and in response the girl having slightly pinks cheeks.

"We made it out." Aya said finally, and Leyona could only nod. They personally where still stunned by what happened. They lived, made a friend, where getting their swords in two weeks, and after that they would be killing demons.

After recovery, of course.

Both where so, so tired, but they had to get to the estate. Leyona gritted her teeth, and forced her legs to move.

Neito kicked away a slayer, his gaze bored. "Your master must be terrible at what he does, if he's sending you to slay me." The demon said, his amber eyes rolling as the slayer got back up again.

"How dare you insult Oyakata-sama's name!" He shouted, and Neito sighed, rubbing his temple. He was getting a headache from this.

"Breath of the Wild, first form, Shrieking Haw-"

The slayer never got to finish that sentence.

In a second, his head was cut off, like how a demon slayer would cut off a demon's, Neito standing in front of him, holding a katana. "You slayers never do learn, do you?" He leaned down next to the discarded head. "I am forever stronger than you."

"This is why nobody likes you, Neito-san." Neito's suddenly tensed, and he hissed a name under his breath before turning around. "What do you want?" He asked the woman in front of him.

She was short, possibly 4'11, with short dark purple hair that just reached her shoulders. Her eyes where a pretty violet, the kanji for three in them. A butterfly pattern on her right cheek and just below her jawbone, both visible. Purple and black butterfly wings adorned her back, two antennae coming from her forehead. Pale skin, and a creepy smile and the woman radiated power.

She wore a simple white shirt and purple-tinted demon slayer pants, possibly from a time of the past.

"Oh, nothing~ Just wanted to see you squirm because someone shorter than you-and gasp, a woman- is better than you." Neito was now very ticked off, and he stepped forward, anger growing in his eyes. "You are not better than me. Just watch, soon I'll be Upper Three." He hissed, exposing sharper than sharp teeth.

"Now kindly shut up." He swiped with the katana at her neck, fully knowing that it wouldn't kill her, but he at least hoped to decapitate her, but the butterfly demon simply leaped, and with one flap of her wings, she was out of reach of Neito's sword. "Ara ara, this is why no likes you Nieto-san." She teased, laughing.

"Master wants us to visit him." Both heads turned towards another voice, unsurprisingly revealing Upper Six, taller and more lean then the butterfly demon. Black hair cut off at the shoulders, pale skin with a black cracking pattern all along her throat, arms, and legs. Her eyes were completely black, only a white kanji with the number 'six' on them.

"So stop with the childish teasing and let's get on with it. Looking at you, Shinobu."

Shattered Legacy Secret

The reason Shinobu was turned was because when Dumbass- I mean Douma was killed, anyone who had been absorbed by him reformed themselves from his flesh, and thus came into contact with his blood, making more than three hundred demons from his death.
