CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

Eotri was facing off against a slayer.

His black hair was cut short, and dark red eyes were wide with fear. Yet, he stood, blade in hand, his stance firm.

Run. Run, please. Eotri thought, wanting the words to escape from her mouth but they never did.

Never, never never.

"Water Breathing...."

Eotri closed her eyes, waiting for the demon slayer's blade to meet her neck. Maybe, if he caught off her head, she'd be at peace.

She could feel her arms shift, and when she opened her eyes, the slayer was dead on the ground, his torso disconnected his body.

Slumping her shoulders, she put a hand on his back. "Blood demon art, Risen From The Grave."

"Eotri."

The demon in mention stiffened up, turning around and standing at the same time, nearly making her fall.

Swiftly adjusting her stance and ignoring the sounds of bones cracking back into place behind her, she coughed into her hand. "Yori. Good to see you."

In her opinion, Yori was the most least human looking out of all the Upper Moons, and that was for good reason.

He was covered head to toe in golden scales, his knuckles dragging against the ground, caused by his unbelievably long arms. He had a terrible posture, yet seemed fine with it. The demon's legs where slightly shorter than the average human's as well, and he wore black demon slayer pants.

Eotri wasn't sure how he walked, but the Upper Moon managed.

Unlike most demons, who's only teeth that had grown more pronounced where their canines, Yori had a full set of dagger-sharp teeth.

The demon's eyes where the only thing that wasn't horrifying, but only because they were a blue that reminded Eotri of the sky.

They were somewhat comforting to look at it.

The only thing, other than his sky blue eyes, that remained of his human life was his black hair, tipped in lavender.

Yori simply nodded, approaching her and sitting beside her. They sat in silence for a bit, Eotri trying to ignore the resurrected slayer behind her. Eventually, she just couldn't, and waved the corpse off.

"Isn't the moon lovely tonight?" Yori asked, and Eotri began to choke on air. Alarmed, Yori glanced over at her and tried to hit her on the back.

When Upper Moon One stopped coughing, she turned to Yori and stared at him. "Do you even know what that means?" She asked, swallowing slightly. Yori tilted his head.

"Shinobu told me to say that to you. Why?"

Eotri couldn't help it, she laughed. It was just so....Yori.

"Of course it was Shinobu." She said, shaking her head and chuckling. It had been a while since she had laughed like this, since her and Yori barely managed to talk at all, except at meetings before Muzan showed up. It was rare for them to be like this, talking under the stars.

Silence settled over them again, but Eotri felt just a little bit lighter than before.

"I also forgot to mention, that Shinobu is Upper Moon Two now, and she killed the Flower Hashira."

And that feeling was gone, replaced by shock and surprisingly....pride.

Eotri was proud that Shinobu was Upper Moon Two.

Impossibly, somehow, she was proud.

Of a demon.

"She is WHAT."

Leyona held the sword to the demon's neck, it's green eyes wide with fear. "Please! Please let me go! I'll give up eating humans, I promise!" It begged, and the slayer's eyes narrowed.

"All demons do is lie. Now shut up and go to hell." With that, Leyona swiftly cut off it's head.

She watched with grim satisfaction as the head slowly eroded away, and looked at it with disgust. This thing had murdered hundreds of humans, it didn't deserve her mercy.

"Mother....? Is that you.....?"

It teared up, and Leyona gripped the handle on her blade tightly.

It's a demon. It doesn't deserve my mercy.

She thought, and turned away.

But he lost his family as well....he's like you.

Leyona froze up, then quickened her pace.

"That thing is nothing like me." She declared, and walked off, leaving the demon to turn to dust.

Leyona picked at the noodles on her bowl. After previously having one of bowl and finishing half of this one, she really wasn't hungry.

However, Aoi taught her to never waste a meal, so she begrudgingly put another noodle in her mouth.

After a brief sheck to make sure the butterfly haori was still hung on the stool next to her-she didn't want to spill food on it, the cloth seemed almost sacred now-Leyona turned back to her meal.

"Hey, I ca-can finish it if you want."

Leyona coughed and nearly fell out of her stool in surprise at the voice.

"Hiari?"

Leyona stared at the white haired boy, who gave her a shaky smile in return. "Hey." He said, then glanced around.

"Where's Aya?"

The girl's face fell slightly, and Hiari seemed to panic a bit. "O-oh, I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean to!" The Sound Breath user flinched slightly, fully expecting a snappy remark from Leyona.

"It's fine.  Here, have the rest." Leyona glumly shoved the bowl to the side, and Hiari stumbled towards it, surprise swimming in his eyes, before sitting on a stool to the left of his companion. An uneasy quiet formed, until Hiari decided to break it.

"So....I'm meeting my sister in town a-after this, w-wanna come with us to our next mission?" He gave Leyona a surprised yet shaky smile, and the girl seemed to consider it for several seconds.

The slayer shrugged, before nodding. "Heck it, what could go wrong?"

Ai, as it turned out, was much more competent than her brother, able to hold entire sentences without stuttering or tripping over words.

Leyona learned this when Hiari was out getting supplies for the journey, which was probably the worst decision ever on his part.

She was the daughter of Hinatsuru, making her a year younger than Hiari, but she didn't care.

"He's still my brother, and I'll treat him as such." The red-eyed girl said coldly when Leyona brought this up.

Annoyance flared up in Leyona, but she forced her anger down her throat and merely frowned.

"Does your father not help him at all? He seems as jumpy as a rabbit."

Ai tensed up, before looking at her crow. "Where's the demon at?" She asked, ignoring her fellow slayer's question completely.

Annoyance trickled in, and this time Leyona didn't shove it away. "Why aren't you answering my question? Got issues at home?" She spat, and Ai gritted her teeth before turning away and walking towards Hiari, who had just returned.

Leyona had a feeling that the two of them weren't going to get along as well as Hiari thought.

Shattered Legacy Secret

Hiari really likes pudding.

Really sorry for not posting. I got caught up in a fishing trip, got dragged into doing some stuff when I got back from said fishing trip, and I'm over all just really sorry.

I also don't think I did this chapter any justice sorry if it's bad-
