Chapter 16
"What's your story?" Jimin asks, looking at me with intense curiosity. I feel like shribbling up. When they look at you so intensely, it makes you wanna melt. It's too much to handle.
"Well, I'm from Columbus, Georgia. It's located near the center of Georgia. I'm the youngest of seven kids. I've never had my dad in my life. I don't know who he is. I met a potential once, but there's no telling if he's my dad or not. He looked like me, except he's darker and has different lips. My mom died when I was 13. I had to move to Florida and live with my aunt, which was hell, cuz she hated me." I shrug, showing no emotion on my face.
"I'm sorry." "It's ok. I mean, what can you do, right?" "You're very resilient, Shiranda. I admire that." He says, a small smile on his face.
"Thanks, Jimin. That means a lot coming from you." I didn't tell him all the skeletons in my closet. I just don't feel like divulging all that stuff right now.
"No problem." We silently look around the room until we break the silence. "Do you wanna dance?" We say at the same time. We simultaneously smile and say, "Sure."
