Chapter 4

Annabeth's POV

I quietly shut the door behind me, shouldering a small backpack. I put on my Yankee's cap, and I walked undetected through the camp. It was pitch-black outside, which made it difficult to make my way towards Zeus's cabin. The campers were still sleeping in their cabins, undisturbed by any commotion that I might've made. Since no one occupied Zeus's cabin tonight, the rest of us agreed to meet at Zeus's cabin before we left. Jason was at Camp Jupiter, and Thalia was with the Hunters.

I snuck inside, quietly opening the door and closing it behind me. Leo, Piper, Grover, and Nico sat down on either Jason's bed or the floor, whispering to each other about our plan to rescue Percy. Jason, Hazel, Frank, and Reyna were busy in New Rome, working on something important.

They instantly stopped talking and stared with wide eyes at the door. I took off my Yankee's cap, and they sighed with relief knowing that it was only me. "Okay, first things first, we have to find out where Percy is being held hostage." I instructed. "Try your empathy link again, Grover," I suggested.

He closed his eyes, silently concentrating on communicating with Percy. "He's not answering." Grover announced, disappointed. "Try again. But this time, focus on his presence, not trying to communicate with him," I urged. He sighed and closed his eyes in doubt.

We stared at him with eager faces, curious to know what he felt. "Well?" Piper asked. "I- I can feel him. Somewhere..." He trailed off, confused. "Somewhere in the United Kingdom. Great Britain..." He told us. He trailed off again, staring at us in concentration. "London!" He exclaimed. "He's in London!"

I smiled. "That's a pretty good start." I considered. "What do you think, Nico? Strong enough to shadow travel all the way to London?" Nico snorted, rolling his eyes. "Of course I can. But once I arrive, I'll need a place to rest," He said. "Well, maybe we can find a hotel for the night," Grover suggested. Leo shrugged. "Well, at least we're not carrying Frank," Leo joked. Piper whacked him in the arm.

"Don't say that. That's rude," She scolded him. Leo put his hands up in surrender. "What? That guy is like, what, three times taller than me?" He protested. "And what are the Romans even doing in New Rome that could be more important than rescuing Percy?" Grover added. "I'm sure they have their reasons," I said. "Hazel, Frank, Jason, and Reyna are good people. They'd never try and plot against us or anything," I reasoned. Grover frowned doubtedly, but the subject was changed by Nico.

"Whatever the Romans are doing, we have our own problem," Nico reminded us. "So let's go save Percy."
