Chapter Six
" ᏟᎪN' ᎻᎪᏙᎬ ᏓᏌᏆᏟᎬ ᎡᏆᏩᎻᎢ NᎾᏔ."

"Why can't we remember a goddamn thing from last night?" Hiccup asked as they rode down the elevator. He had ice wrapped in a towel and was pressing it to the gums were his missing tooth should be. Kristoff found a baby carrier and insisted on wearing it so he could carry the baby. Eugene was leaning against the back wall, trying to calm down his headache.

"Because we obviously had a great fucking time." Eugene said. He didn't know why else they wouldn't remember the night. The elevator dinged as they stopped at a floor. "Why don't you just stop worrying for one minute." He said. Hiccup's worrying was driving him insane. It was also stressing him out as well. "Be proud of yourself." He added with a soft smile.

The doors opened and an older woman entered. She smiled, seeing the baby. "Oh, how cute. What's his name?" She asked.

Eugene looked around, waiting to see if someone was going to speak up. Since everyone else seemed silent, he named the baby. "Ben."

"Carlos." Kristoff cut off.

"Carlos?" Eugene softly asked. The baby looked nothing like a Carlos.

The group found a table to sit at while they looked for Jack. Hiccup insisted on checking at the front desk, even though Eugene thought it was childish. Knowing Hiccup couldn't sit still and was driving Eugene insane, he let him go. So that left Eugene and Kristoff to watch the baby.

"Hey, Eugene, look." Kristoff spoke up. Eugene looked over at the baby in the high chair. Kristoff moved the baby's hand in front of the baby's crotch. "He's jacking his little weenis." Kristoff laughed.

Eugene laughed, shaking his head. "Pull yourself together, man."

"Not at the table, Carlos." Kristoff pretended to scold, making Eugene laugh.

Hiccup came back with the towel still pressed to his gums. "I looked everywhere." He said. "Gym, casino, front desk. Nobody's seen Jack. He's not here."

"He's fine. He's a grown man." Eugene replied. "Seriously, Hic, you gotta calm down. Here have some juice." He said, placing the glass in front of Hiccup.

At the sight of juice, Hiccup leaned to the side and threw up. The idea of eating or drinking anything made his stomach churn. The smell didn't exactly help either. "I can't have juice right now." He groaned.

"Okay. All right. Let's just track this thing." Eugene said, knowing he couldn't eat anything either. He grabbed a napkin and a pen, ready to write everything down. "What's the last thing we remember doing last night?" He asked.

"Well, the first thing was we were on the roof and we were having those shots of Jäger." Kristoff said, playing with his sunglasses.

At the word, Hiccup gagged, stopping himself from throwing up again.

"And then we ate that dinner at The Palm. Right?" Eugene asked, writing the thoughts down as they went.

"That's right." Kristoff nodded, remembering that part. "And then we played craps at the Hard Rock, and I think Jack was there."

Eugene nodded, writing. "That sounds right. No, no. He definitely was."

"Yeah, you know what, guys?" Hiccup said. "I don't even remember going to dinner."

"I know." Eugene sighed, slamming his pen. "What the fuck? I don't think I've ever been this hungover." He groaned, leaning back in his chair. He rubbed his hands down his face in frustration.

"After the Hard Rock, I blacked out. Like emptiness." Kristoff grinned, laughing.

Hiccup silently scoffed as Eugene spoke up. "Okay. We have up until 10 p.m. so that gives us a 12-hour window where we could have lost him."

Kristoff reached down into his pocket and pulled out something strange. "What is this?" He asked, holding it up for the others to see.

"Oh, my God. That is my tooth!" Hiccup exclaimed, reaching forward and grabbing it. "Why do you have that? What else is in your pockets?"

"No, this is a good thing." Eugene said, standing up enough to dig through his pockets. "Check your pockets. Check your pockets." He demanded. He started throwing change on the table, pulling everything out. "Do you have anything?" He asked.

"I have an ATM receipt from the Bellagio," Hiccup said, beginning to read the receipt, "11:05 for $800. I am so fucked." He exclaimed, throwing the receipt onto the table. Astrid was literally going to kill him.

"I have a valet ticket from Caesar's." Kristoff said. "Looks like we got in at 5:15 a.m."

"Oh shit. We drove last night?" Eugene sighed, running his hands down his face.

Kristoff began laughing. "Driving drunk. Classic."

Hiccup sarcastically laughed back, annoyed at how relaxed Kristoff seemed with their current circumstance.

"What's on your arm?" Kristoff asked, touching the bracelet on Eugene. Eugene hummed, looking down.

"What the fuck?" He asked, now staring at it.

"Jesus, Eugene. You were in the hospital last night." Hiccup said, grabbing Eugene's arm to get a better look.

"I guess so, yeah." Eugene said.

"You okay?" Kristoff asked.

Eugene stared at him. "Yeah, Kristoff. I'm fine." He fired back.

"What the hell is going on?" Hiccup asked, holding onto the back of his neck. Everything seemed too crazy. First, they couldn't find Jack. Then they found out they were driving drunk. And now Eugene was in the hospital.

"Well, Hic, Hic, this is a good thing." Eugene stumbled, trying to think of the right words to say to keep him calm. "We have a lead now."

"Hey, Hic. Watch this." Kristoff said, getting everyone's attention. He grabbed the baby's hand again, moving it like before.

Kristoff laughed and Hiccup slightly chuckled. "You ever seen a baby do that?" Kristoff grinned.

Hiccup lightly laughed then controlled himself, slightly glaring. "Dude, Kristoff, not cool."

The group stood outside the hotel, waiting for their car to arrive. All of them prayed that it was still in perfect condition. Otherwise they were dead to Kristoff's family.

Hiccup looked over, seeing Kristoff with the baby that was now wearing his sunglasses. "So, uh, are you sure you're qualified to be taking care of that baby?" He asked.

"What are you talking about? I've found a baby before."

"You found a baby before?"

"Yeah."

"Where?"

"Coffee Bean."

Hiccup widened his green eyes. "Wait, what?"

"Hey, Eugene?" Kristoff said, ending the conversation with Hiccup. "Look, I don't think Jack would want us to take the Mercedes."

"Relax, we'll be careful." Eugene brushed off, shoving his phone into his pocket.

"See, my dad is crazy about that car. He left Jack in charge—"

"Kristoff. We got bigger problems here." Eugene cut off. "Jack could be in the hospital, he could be hurt."

Everyone stood silent, unsure what to say. "Let's worry about the car later." Eugene sighed.

"Uh, guys." Hiccup said, pointing towards the building. "Check it out."

Kristoff and Eugene turned around to see what Hiccup was looking at. A mattress was stabbed through one of the statues on top of the building.

"Is that the mattress from Jack's room?" Kristoff asked.

"What the fuck?" Eugene mumbled. The group walked to a guy loading up his suitcase into his truck. "Hey, man. What's going on up there?" Eugene asked.

"Some asshole threw his bed out the window last night." The man answered, glancing at the hungover group of men.

"No, shit." Eugene said.

"Yeah. Some guys just can't handle Vegas." He replied, giving them one last look before he walked away.

"Oh, god." Hiccup sighed, looking down.

"It's gonna be okay, Hic." Eugene said, patting his back. He sighed, looking back up at the mattress. "How the hell did we manage that?"

Beside them, tires squealed to a stop. They looked over, seeing a cop car parked. The valet driver hopped out, patting the top of the car. "Here's your car, officers." He smiled.

"Oh, god." Hiccup quietly cursed.

"All right, everybody act cool." Eugene softly instructed as he adjusted his sunglasses. "All right, don't say a word. Come on, let's just get in and go."

Hiccup hesitated, slowly walking to the passenger side as Eugene walked to the driver's side. "Hic, you got a five?" Eugene asked.

"No."

"I'll hit you on the way back." Eugene said to the valet driver.

"Thank you, sir."

Kristoff grabbed the handle of the door and opened the car. Forgetting he had a baby strapped to the front of him, he slammed the baby on the head with the door.

"Oh, my god. Oh, my god." Hiccup fretted, rushing over to the crying baby. "You just nailed the baby."

"Are my glasses okay?" Kristoff asked, gently touching his glasses on the baby's face.

"Your glasses are fine, dick." Hiccup replied, slowly opening the door for Kristoff.
