Chapter 5

"I love you," I said. The words rolled out of my mouth naturally, without me even having to think about them.

Finch turned to me in surprise, but his eyes were full of love. "You are my everything."

I smiled and felt tears form at the corners of my eyes. I leaned in, closing my eyes. He met me halfway there, his lips so soft and warm against mine. My hands found a way into his ashy, blond and tangled themselves in it.

A nice, gentle breeze enveloped us. I felt at total peace. I heard a little noise from above. As I looked up, I saw finches above us, in the branches of the beautiful willow tree.

"Oh look," I said in delight,"they must have known you were here, Finch."

Finch, the person that is, laughed. "Yes, but I'm the only Finch in the company of a girl as lovely as you are, my dear Sapphire."

I blushed. Oh dear, I blushed ever so easily. "The name Sapphire will take some getting used to."

"They say the eyes represent your soul. Your sapphire eyes show how pure you are, you know?"

He stroked my red cheeks. I shivered and leaned back in. Once again, his soft lips were there to meet. I wished they would always be there to meet mine.

"Okay, what soul do your green eyes represent? I'm thinking peaceful."

"I'm nothing but peaceful," he said a little too innocently. I laughed.

We spent the rest of the afternoon lying there in the magical meadow, underneath the willow tree. Our hands entwined together, never wanting to let go.

I gasped and sat up in my bed. Sweat was pouring down my face. Suddenly, my parents burst in.

"Ali, are you ok? We heard you screaming, sweetheart," my mum said, enveloping me in a hug.

"My name is Sapphire," I said.

"What? Darling, whatever is wrong?"my dad asked.

Finally I got myself together. "I'm sorry, I had a- a bad dream," I said, not being able to bring myself to say nightmare.

"Must of been a heck of a nightmare! You've been shouting 'Finch' as if your life depended on it," my brother said, "I will be surprised if China didn't hear you!"

"Tyler that's enough!" Mum said in a stern voice, "all of you go now."

My dad, sister and brother left. Mum turned towards me."Ali, what's wrong? You can tell me anything, you know?"

A lump formed in my throat. I could not tell her everything. Not until till I got to the the end of this.

"I know mum," I said, giving her a hug, "but I'm really alright.

"Ok then. But if you ever want to talk about anything with me, then I'm here, sweetheart. Ok?"

"Yeah, ok."

Mum smiled. She got up and tucked me back in. She then kissed me on the top of my head. "Good night and sweet dreams."

"Goodnight. Mum?"

"Yes?" She replied, standing by the door.

"I love you."

She smiled. "I love you too."

She stepped out and gently closed the door behind her. I took a deep breath and recalled the dream I just had.

It most definitely was set in the meadow.

I seemed to be a girl called Sapphire in it.

Suddenly, a shiver went down my spine. You were shouting Finch as if your life depended on it. Finch was the young man in my dreams. I recalled his voice, which had sounded familiar.

Finch's voice...

Was the voice of the singing man of my vision.
