The Hands That Hurt Us - Part 9

The night was long. Everyone had found themselves a place to sit or lay down in Jungkook's hospital room, yet none of them could really sleep. Jin was on clothing websites buying Jungkook new hoodies and sweatpants he knew he'd like. He was in the mood to spoil him and figured since he was going to be home bound for a while as he heals, he'd need plenty of comfortable things to lounge around in. He looked through different colors of shirts and chuckled to himself when he realized all Jungkook would want to wear is the color black, he should've know. Morning couldn't come quick enough since everyone knew Jungkook would get to go home in the morning.

The night was quiet, and when morning came the doctor greeted the members with a packet of papers for each of them. The packet consisted of care instructions on how Jungkook is supposed to take care of his head and his stitches, it talked about activities he was supposed to avoid until he was declared concussion free. One part of the packet talked about an antiseptic Jungkook is supposed to clean his stitches with, but there was a warning that it was stronger and more painful than regular antiseptic. The doctor pointed to that part and told them they'd probably have to help Jungkook with that, because it might be too painful for him to do it himself. Nobody looked forward to that.

The end of the packet included a brochure. A domestic abuse brochure. Yoongi rolled his eyes when he saw it, he didn't know how many times they had to tell the doctor Jungkook wasn't in an abusive relationship with anybody. The doctor added it for good measure, just incase.

He saw many patients come through his ER but he had taken a quick liking to Jungkook, treating him twice now in such a short amount of time made him actually begin to care about the boy. Jungkook was probably one of his only patients who was always very nice and respectful. He didn't want to see him keep showing up to the ER hurt.

The members were ecstatic when they were told Jungkook was able to be discharged. The doctor had to remind them that they couldn't leave him unsupervised until his memory had come back and his stitches healed more. The biggest concern was the thought of Jungkook hitting his head again.

"Maknae, wakey wakey," Hobi whispered as he shook Jungkook's arm to wake him up.

Jungkook's eyes opened slowly, the brightness of the room immediately making his head hurt. "Hmm?" He mumbled.

"You get to come home now!" Hobi smiled.

"Home?" Jungkook seemed confused. "Which one of you do I live with?"

Everyone frowned, it was scary how much Jungkook actually didn't remember.

"All of us, bunny. We all live together," Yoongi told him.

Jungkook smiled, he thought that was really cool. The doctor unhooked him from all his wires and helped him into a wheelchair to get him to the car. A staff member met them at the hospital to pick them up and drive them home.

When they got home, they all surrounded Jungkook and held onto him while walking into their dorm.

Jungkook insisted he was capable of walking by himself but the members weren't going to take any chances.

They got into the dorm and Jungkook pointed to all the blankets and pillows scattered on the living room floor. "What's all that there for?"

"We had a camp-out the other night. It's your favorite thing to do," Namjoon answered.

The other night felt like a lifetime ago. Taehyung immediately ran over and moved everything out of the way, incase Jungkook tripped over a pillow or something. Yoongi helped him to the couch and he layed down. Although Jungkook was grateful, he couldn't help but feel a little bit smothered. Everyone was asking him how they could help or if he needed anything a million times over and over. They were all staying extremely close to him.

He couldn't really complain though, as frustrated as he was that he couldn't quite remember them right now it was very clear to him that they all loved and cared about him immensely. They made him feel safe which was a comforting feeling. He knew for the time being he didn't have all that much to worry about. Yoongi had kept telling him all he needs to worry about right now is getting better and relaxing, and trusting them to take care of him.

"I'm thirsty," Jungkook complained and went to get off the couch.

Jimin was immediately at his side and grabbed his arm to help him, but Jungkook pulled away. "Thank you hyung but I'm sure I can walk by myself."

"We just need to make sure you don't fall again," Jimin told him.

"I won't hyung, I'll be careful." Jungkook started walking towards the kitchen, Jimin still trailing right next to him.

Jungkook stood there and looked around at the cabinets. "Uh, where are the cups?" he asked.

Hobi pointed to the correct cabinet and Jungkook walked over and opened it. He went to grab a glass cup, but Taehyung yelled,"Wait don't use the gla-!"

The sudden yell from Taehyung made Jungkook flinch in pain, it had hurt his head, and he accidentally dropped the glass cup. Shattering yet another one all over the kitchen floor. Jin groaned as this cup was also his. Jungkook and Jimin were now surrounded by glass.

The maknae looked around at everyone and his eyes were welling with tears. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

Jimin rubbed his back. "It's fine. Just don't move until it's cleaned up."

Namjoon had deja vu as he ran to grab the vacuum cleaner and broom again.

"Jungkookie, from now on, just plastic cups okay?" Yoongi demanded. "That's the second glass this week."

"I broke a glass cup earlier too?" Jungkook asked. All the members nodded their heads yes.

Hobi helped Namjoon clean up the mess. Jungkook stood there tense. "So, what is my punishment?"

Everyone looked at him confused.

"What do you mean?" Jin asked.

"This is the second glass cup I broke? Don't I get a punishment for breaking something?" Jungkook couldn't quite pinpoint why but for some reason he felt like he was supposed to be in trouble.

Everyone looked around at each other and chuckled. Jungkook really thinks we'd punish him for anything, ever?

"Uh, Kookie we don't really...we aren't really those kind of hyungs, and it was just an accident," Yoongi informed him.

"I'm not in trouble?" The maknae asked.

Taehyung pointed to Jungkook's bandaged head that still sprouted a nice black bruise and stitches poking out from beneath. "I think you've been punished enough, really."

The members agreed with Taehyung. Jungkook smiled, he could see why he was in a band with these guys, he definitely loved them a lot. Jimin helped him get a plastic cup and filled it with water before trailing behind Jungkook back to the couch.

Jin came over and sat at the end of the couch and gestured for Jungkook to lay next to him. He wanted to cuddle his maknae and he finally had the chance to after all these recent events. Jungkook used Jin's leg as a pillow and quickly fell asleep while Jin rubbed his back.

The rest of the members also gathered around in the living room and lay back out the pillows and blankets and gathered on the floor together.

Namjoon got a phone call from manager Shik letting him know that he was going to be coming by soon to check on Jungkook. "Okay, sounds good. Yeah he's asleep. Yup. Okay. I don't know when he'll wake up the doctor said to just let him sleep as much as he needs to. Mmhm. Okay, see you soon."

Everyone looked at Namjoon, "Manager Shik is coming soon. He said he just wanted to make sure Kookie is doing alright."

Everyone nodded and turned their attention back to the movie that was playing on the TV. They thought it was nice of their manager to want to stop by and check on their youngest. They also figured it was convenient because they had to discuss how to go about their schedules now, knowing they had to cancel some future events coming up.

About an hour later the doorbell rang and a loud knock caught everyone off guard, even Jungkook was startled awake by the noise.

"Jungkookie, our manager is here. You probably won't remember him either but I promise you he's really cool. You'll like him. Just call him manager Shik," Taehyung told Jungkook as he got up and went to answer the door.

Shik greeted them all with a big smile and hugged the members before making his way into the dorm. "Where's my favorite maknae?" he said warmly.

Jin helped Jungkook sit up and as soon as he made eye contact with Shik he felt a radar go off in his body. He tensed up and felt scared, he had absolutely no idea why. Manager Shik wasn't giving off the same aura as his members did. He backed his body up against Jin feeling like he needed some kind of protection. "It's okay, bunny. I know you don't remember him right now but I promise he's great," Jin said reassuringly.

Jungkook stared at Shik silently.

Shik stood in front of him and stared down at him smiling. "Hi, maknae."

Shik could see the bruise under Jungkook's bandage and he knew it was covering an array of stitches. He knew Jungkook couldn't remember a thing. Shik felt like such a winner right now. He felt accomplished knowing he was the reason for Jungkook's injuries. The more bruises and cuts and pain he got to paint Jungkook's body with, the stronger and more powerful it made him feel. He could tell there was still fear in the boys eyes, and Shik delighted in knowing he was the reason for it.

"Let me get a good look at ya." Shik went to grab Jungkook's chin but he backed away.

"Oh, right. He's been a little bit shy. You know, considering." Namjoon informed Shik.

"That's okay. Jungkook, you still don't remember how you hurt your head, huh?" Shik asked.

Jungkook just shook his head no. He felt too nervous to talk to this man. But why? His hyung's said he was a great guy, he didn't understand what the problem was. Shik was glad Jungkook couldn't remember, he didn't need him spilling their 'little secret' as Shik had first called it. He wondered if the boy would spill once he did get his memory back and remembered how he got injured. Of course not. He'll remember what I said will happen if he opens his mouth.

Shik took a seat right next to Jungkook on the couch, Jungkook didn't like that. He tried backing even further into Jin and Jin wrapped him in a back hug and let his maknae lean back into him.

The rest of the members sat around and they began discussing to Shik the details of Jungkook's care packet and how they're going to go about their schedules. Shik was absolutely pissed that Jungkook couldn't come back to work right away. If it were up to him he'd force that boy straight back into the studio immediately so he could beat him up for fun all over again, but he knew Namjoon was going to make sure everyone strictly followed his maknae's care sheets.

Shik was browsing through the packet when he saw the domestic abuse brochure at the end.

"What the hell is this?" The manager asked.

"Oh that...Yeah. The doctor in the ER said he's apparently showing similarities to people in abusive relationships but we already assured him that he's not," Taehyung told their manager.

Shik felt angry. He didn't need anyone, especially a stupid doctor, poking their nose into their business. He didn't need anyone ruining his fun.

"Well that's stupid," Shik replied sternly.

"It must be a hospital protocol or something to just make people aware," Yoongi added.

Jungkook stayed sitting there still , thankful that Jin was holding him. He wanted Shik to go away so badly.

"I'll be right back, I have to go to the bathroom," Jin said. As he went to stand up Jungkook clutched onto his arms tightly without saying anything in order to try and stop him from leaving.

"Kook-ah I have to pee," Jin told him.

Jungkook frantically came up with an idea. "Me too hyung," he said and got up with Jin.

Granted the room still would have been filled with the rest of his members if Jin left, but it wasn't the same as being held tightly by one of them. He felt a lot more safe and protected that way. Although he still couldn't seem to figure out why he wanted that. Jungkook and Jin headed to the bathroom together, considering Jin knew he technically wasn't supposed to leave Jungkook unsupervised, they ended up in the bathroom together.

"Hyung? You said manager Shik is nice?" Jungkook asked.

"Yeah, why?" Jin replied as he finished his business.

"Does he ever get angry?"

"Not that I've seen, no. He's actually really chill."

This conversation didn't help. Jungkook felt more confused than before. Maybe his head trauma had him overreacting or having internal feelings that really weren't meant to be there .

"Why do you ask?" Jin gave him a questioning look.

"I guess I just don't remember, that's all," Jungkook pouted. He didn't really want to discuss his feelings. He knew the current situation he was in had them stressed out enough, he didnt want to add to it. Plus he didn't have an explanation on why Shik made him nervous anyways.

Jin patted him on the shoulder. "You will soon enough kiddo." Jin smiled at him.

The two left the bathroom, Jin laughed when Jungkook said he didn't actually have to go, clearly his maknae was just being a little clingy and he thought that was cute. They made their way back into the living room and Jimin and

Hobi updated them on the fact that they had to cancel some upcoming interviews and the members had the option to either work in their studios or bring their stuff home and work from home. Namjoon made sure to make it concrete that Jungkook was not to be left alone. Shik knew this was going to be torture for him, but he knew the longer he had to wait to catch Jungkook alone again the better the beating he'd give him to make up for lost time. He was excited. Jungkook sat at the end of the couch this time so that Jin would be between him and Shik. He wanted to trust his hyungs words but something about this Shik guy wasn't sitting right with him.

The members finished their plans with their manager and all got up to say goodbye to him.

Yoongi turned to Jungkook and said, "Kook-ah I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your stitches have to be cleaned now."

This caught Shik's attention and stopped him from leaving.

"Cleaned?" Shik asked. He wasn't sure how stitches actually worked.

"Yeah the doctor prescribed some antiseptic he has to put on it." Jimin leaned in closer and whispered into Shik's ear, "But we were told someone else has to help him because I guess this stuff is super painful." Jimin didn't want Jungkook to hear him. Shik tried to hide his smile, he really liked the sound of that.

"I could help him, it's the least I could do," Shik offered.

Jimin shrugged, he didn't see why not. Jungkook stayed laying on the couch while the rest of the members were in the kitchen. Some were getting dinner started while Yoongi and Jimin were trying to figure out this concoction that was Jungkook's medicine.

Apparently it was more complicated than just pouring it onto a cotton ball and cleaning the wound, they had to measure different liquids together and somehow pour it straight onto the wound. They actually felt a little grateful that Shik offered to do it, considering none of them really felt like putting Jungkook through pain at the moment, even knowing it was for his own good.

"So I guess it just goes in this syringe thing and you put a few droplets on the stitches and then it has to be freshly bandaged." Yoongi wasn't entirely sure he was reading the directions correctly. He felt like a scientist. "The label says don't pour too much because if you put too much on it could actually burn him or something."

"Okay." Jimin agreed. He felt like a little sidekick. Shik stood there and watched them make it. The only direction he heard in his head was, "accidentally pour all of it onto the wound so it hurts."

"Good luck." Yoongi chuckled as he handed the tube to Shik. Shik made his way over to Jungkook holding the medicine and Jungkook stared up at him, still laying on the couch.

"I'm going to help you," Shik smiled.

"What? No, I want hyung to help me," Jungkook whined.

Shik looked scary to him and he didn't trust him, for whatever reason. Taehyung overhead Jungkook's protest from the kitchen. "You'll be fine bunny!" he yelled.

Jungkook sunk himself further into the couch as Shik leaned down to take the bandage off. He stared down at the stitches and bruise and he knew it had to be painful. He stared at it admiringly for a moment. He thought the injury looked beautiful. Just what Jungkook deserved.

"So I guess I have to pour a little bit of this onto your stitches and it might hurt a little bit," Shik said loudly.

He wanted the rest of the members to hear him and think he was trying to be caring and reassuring. Jungkook tightened his eyes closed and anticipated the medicine, expecting to maybe feel a small sting. However, he felt a lot more than that. When Jungkook had closed his eyes, Shik made sure to loosen the top of the medicine tube so that it'd fall off and it'd all pour out.

"Ahh!" Everyone was caught off guard by Jungkook letting out an ear piercing scream and sitting up and reflexively smacking the tube out of his managers hand. They all ran over, and Yoongi saw the cap of the tube had fallen off.

"What the hell happened?" Yoongi asked sternly.

Jungkook didn't know what to do, the wound was burning and stinging and hurting like hell and he wanted to put pressure on it but putting pressure on it was also too painful. He started sobbing instead. Namjoon immediately ran to grab a new bandage to recover it.

"I'm not sure. The cap came off when I went to put some on his head and it all poured out at once."

Everyone winced. They couldn't even imagine how painful that must have been. Taehyung immediately hugged him and Jungkook continued crying. Shik figured since he got a little bit of what he wanted, now he had to pretend to play nice so they wouldn't get suspicious.

"I'm sorry about that, are you alright?" Shik tried to sound concerned even though he was jumping for joy on the inside.

Jungkook snuggled in closer to Taehyung and buried his face into his hyungs chest. He was pissed and didn't even want to look at his manager right now.

I knew there was a reason I didn't like him.

Yoongi and Jimin couldn't help but feel a little bit irritated. Yoongi knew he was pretty specific about the directions and felt like maybe he should have just been the one to give his maknae the medicine, but he knew Shik meant well and it was just an accident. Jimin was more-so annoyed that once again, Jungkook got hurt. He felt like no matter what anyone did, in the end, Jungkook would get hurt. It was frustrating.

"I think it's time we probably all call it a night," Jin spoke up. It had already gotten pretty late and he personally felt like at this point he wanted Jungkook to eat, curl up, and go to bed. Jungkook stayed clinging to Taehyung as the rest of them said bye to their manager. Shik walked down the hallway exit and smiled to himself.

Until next time, maknae.
