The Hands That Hurt Us- Part 18

Taehyung stood there in silence. He felt like a 1 million pound weight had just been put on his shoulders hearing Jungkook say he didn't care about him.

"Oh," was his only response. He waited a second to see if Jungkook would take it back or not, but his maknae turned to face the wall and didn't say another word. Taehyung dropped his gaze to the floor and dragged his feet along, slowly closing the door behind him. He dragged his feet across the entire house staring at the floor. He walked right past the rest of his hyungs.

"What are you doing?" Jin asked Taehyung. They had sat down for dinner and were waiting for him. He was clearly crying.

"I'm going to bed," he mumbled as he made his way towards Jimin's room. He decided he'd sleep there tonight.

"Don't you want to eat first?" Hobi asked.

"No thank you, hyungs. I'm not very hungry." Taehyung frowned and disappeared.

The members looked around at each other concerned.

"Oh great, not him now too," said Yoongi.

Jimin stood up. "Go ahead and eat, I want to go check on him." The members nodded.

Jimin made his way to his room and lightly knocked on the door, he felt weird knocking on his own bedroom door. He slowly opened it, "TaeTae?" he whispered as he turned the light on.

Taehyung was curled up in bed with his face buried into his pillow, he was crying but it wasn't a loud sob. It was a quiet cry. Jimin went over and sat next to him on the bed, beginning to rub his back.

"Would you like to talk about it? I know you two were fighting, but we couldn't really hear what was being said. Are you okay? I know today hasn't been easy for you either," Jimin began.

He waited patiently for Taehyung to reply, if he wanted to. A few minutes later, Taehyung turned to face Jimin. "He said he doesn't care about me anymore."

"Now you know that has to be the farthest thing from the truth. He doesn't mean that. He's just angry."

Taehyung crawled closer to Jimin, gesturing that he wanted a hug. "He's been angry before and has never said something like that. He's so mad at me about today. He asked why I didn't try to save him myself and now I feel even more guilty."

"Did you tell him you couldn't?" Jimin asked.

"Yes. I don't think he believes me. He hates me Jiminie. My only maknae hates me." Taehyung clung to Jimin and sobbed into his chest. He didn't know it was possible to feel this hurt.

"Do you want me to talk to him?" Jimin asked.

"No," Taehyung started wiping his tears with his shirt, "I think he hates all of us."

Jimin felt an ache in his own heart, he couldn't imagine Jungkook hating even one of them, but all of them? How would that even be possible? They literally raised him.

"Well if that is true, which it is not, don't be so upset. At least it's not targeted at only you, but all of us. I'm telling you though he doesn't mean it. Maybe we could talk to Namjoonie about it," Jimin suggested.

"Why Namjoon?"

"He's read all those books, maybe he can explain why Jungkook would say something like that to you. He knows like everything about how the mind works these days. Do you want to talk to him?"

"Maybe later," Taehyung replied. He didn't care for an explanation at the moment. All he knew was right now Jungkook hated him, and it was killing him.

"He won't accept anyone's apologies. I don't know what to do," Taehyung told Jimin.

"Maybe the best we can do is nothing, and let him come to his senses himself. It was a bad day, and like I said, he's angry. Maybe he'll come to you tomorrow and apologize for what he said. Yeah?"

"It still hurts. I miss him."

"He's right down the hall. You can still go to him. I can promise you he cares about you, no matter what he tells you." Jimin was trying his best to stay positive for Taehyung. Seeing Jungkook all messed up had him worried enough, now seeing both his maknae's hurting and fighting with each other was making it a lot worse.

"That's not what I mean. I miss the old Jungkook. He's been different for weeks now."

Taehyung rested his head against Jimin's chest while Jimin ran his fingers through his hair.

"I know." Jimin really missed Jungkook too.

A few minutes of silence had passed when Taehyung started to sob badly, he was overthinking. He started to cry so hard his nose started pouring out blood.

Jimin shot up. "Taehyung!"

Taehyung cupped his hands under his nose. Sometimes when Taehyung cried hard enough his nose would bleed, but it hadn't happened to him since he was a teenager.

"I'll go get you paper towels." Jimin ran out of the room.

Jungkook was still awake in bed, staring into the darkness, trying to turn his mind off. He kept repeating to himself that he meant what he had said to Taehyung. He didn't care. He didn't care about any of them anymore, just like they didn't care about him either. It was quiet and he could hear that the members were talking to eachother, but he couldn't hear what they were saying. He could hear them cleaning up the kitchen.

He decided he wanted to eavesdrop, maybe they were talking about him? He got out of bed and walked to the door, he locked it again and held his ear to it, trying to make out what everyone was saying.

The first thing he heard was Jimin running into the kitchen. "I need paper towels and an ice pack! Taehyung is bleeding!"

Jungkook froze, Taehyung is bleeding?

He heard Hobi reply, "Why is he bleeding? What happened? Is it bad? Is he okay?"

"He's crying so hard his nose started gushing blood." Jimin could be heard running back to his room.

Jungkook heard Hobi speak again. "That hasn't happened to him in forever. Do you think it's because him and Jungkookie were fighting?"

"More than likely," Namjoon replied.

Jungkook didn't care to hear any more. He went back into his bed and covered his face with his blanket. I made hyungie...I mean Taehyung...bleed?

He buried his face into his pillow and started screaming into it. He didn't know if it was from anger or worry. Why would it be worry? I don't even care about Taehyung. He pouted to himself and decided he just wanted to go to sleep. As he was trying to fall asleep he couldn't ignore the worry creeping into his chest. While his chest was full of worry, his head was full of anger. The two emotions were wrestling with each other inside his body.

I'm hurting Taehyung.

I don't care. I hate all of them. Just like they hate me. Yoongi is a liar, he doesn't care about or love me. They're all liars. Taehyung can bleed all he wants.

I'm hurting Taehyung. Go make sure he's okay.

No! I hate him!

His emotions finally exhausted him to the point of passing out.

Back in Jimin's room, Taehyung's nose had finally stopped bleeding. Everyone had come in to check on him and he said he was alright, just really sad. Jimin told them what Jungkook had said to Taehyung.

"Don't let it upset you this much. He doesn't mean that," Namjoon told him.

Jimin turned to Taehyung. "See, I told you Namjoonie hyung would know."

"How do you know?" Taehyung asked Namjoon.

"People say things they don't mean all the time when they're angry. You can't seriously think if something were to happen to you Jungkook wouldn't care, can you?" Namjoon asked.

"I don't know. Doesn't seem like it anymore. He fought with Yoongi hyung too. I think he doesn't care about any of us anymore hyung," Taehyung pouted.

Namjoon sat next to Taehyung and rubbed his back. "Take it with a grain of salt, Tae. I promise you it's not true. He can say he hates you, or all of us, all he wants. He doesn't mean it."

"It still hurts to hear him say it."

"I know." Namjoon stood up and gestured that it was time everyone get some sleep, it had been a long day. Jimin and Taehyung cuddled up in Jimin's bed and were quickly out like a light. The rest of the hyungs wanted to check on Jungkook too, but they discovered he had re-locked the door. Jin gently tapped on it but there was no movement from the other side.

"We'll talk to him tomorrow," Hobi told them.

"Good luck. He seems to do a lot more yelling than talking at the moment," Yoongi scoffed and headed to his room.

Jin, Namjoon, and Hobi looked around at each other and frowned. "Maybe he'll be less angry tomorrow?" Hobi wondered. They all shrugged and headed to bed.

--------

They were in their dance studio. Hobi was screaming at Jungkook about how terrible he was at dancing, and how they should find someone else to be the maknae of the team. Yoongi, Jin and Namjoon were agreeing. Taehyung and Jimin were staring at him in silence. They had beat red eyes. No iris or pupils. Just red. All the walls of the dance studio started bleeding. Blood poured out from cracks in the ceiling. Jungkook looked around and could see he was being smothered by it, but it wasn't touching his hyungs. He understood that it was Taehyung's blood pouring all over him. Taehyung opened his mouth and somehow words came out without him moving his lips. "It's your turn to bleed." Jimin stepped next to Taehyung, "It's what you deserve."

"What?" Jungkook asked. He looked over and saw manager Shik walk in. He didn't look like a person at all, but he knew in his head it was his manager. He looked like a demon. His entire body was black with red stripes. He had a scorpions tail. His eyes were black, and instead of ears all he had were horns. He was holding a bamboo stick. He walked towards Jungkook.

"Are you ready? It's your turn," Shik asked as he stepped closer. Jungkook tried backing up but couldn't move.

He was trapped in place. "Wait, don't, please!" Jungkook begged. Shik whacked him with the bamboo stick and he screamed. He turned to his hyungs. "Help me. Stop him!" he begged. His hyungs stood there laughing.

Shik hit him again.

"Please! Help me!" he screamed at them.

Suddenly a security guard came in, holding a yellow filled syringe. He recognized it. It was from the psych ward. He knew it would put him to sleep. "No..." he turned back to his hyungs. "Make them stop!" he cried.

Yoongi took a step towards Jungkook and smacked him across the face.

Jungkook cried, " You said you'd never hit me."

" I lied," Yoongi laughed, "Just like I always lie, maknae. You really think we care? Classic, naive, Jungkook."

He was caught off guard by Shik hitting him again. He fell to the floor and screamed. Suddenly Shik and the security guard disappeared. He was stuck to the floor and the blood was getting deeper. He was starting to drown in it, he reached his hand to his hyungs, "Save me!" he cried.

His hyungs stood there in silence. They hadn't moved, but he could sense their hands on him pushing him down further under. "Stop!" he screamed, "Stop it!" he kept crying. Taehyung hovered above him. "It's your turn to bleed." Everything turned red. He couldn't breathe. He was drowning in blood and now he could tell it was both Taehyungs and his own. He turned his head. In the sea of redness, he saw Taehyung drowning too.

---------

Jungkook shot up in bed, he was drenched in sweat and crying. He was hyperventilating badly, he felt like he hadn't been breathing at all. What the HELL was that?!

He frantically ran to turn the light on. "Taehyung?" he started as he turned to Taehyung's bed. "Where did-" he was in a daze and it took him a second to remember Taehyung had went with Jimin.

"Oh, yeah." He took deep breaths as he sat back on his bed. That nightmare had terrified the hell out of him. He wondered if he had screamed during it, and if anyone had heard him. Usually Yoongi would be the first to come running, but he woke up to nobody. Just what he expected at this point.

He was desperate for water, and to be out of his room even just for five minutes. He was starting to feel suffocated in there. He unlocked his door and slowly made his way to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. He sat at the kitchen table and stared at the glass. He hadn't broken one in a while, he wondered what Jin would do if he did it again. Would he be angry this time or understanding again? He'd only ever done it on accident, what would happen if he did it on purpose?

Jungkook shook the thought out of his head, it was a childish thought to have. Breaking a cup just to see if his hyung would get mad at him was something a little kid would do. He took small sips and spaced out. He heard a door open and tensed up, wondering if he should run back to his room or stay. He decided to stay, this was his house too, he was allowed to be in the kitchen. Namjoon had woken up to use the bathroom, he had been having trouble sleeping.

"Oh, you're up? It's like 3 AM," Namjoon said.

"I had a-" nightmare. "I was thirsty." He realized he must not have been screaming in his sleep, as his hyungs hadn't heard anything.

"Are you alright? You look kind of pale," Namjoon noticed.

"I'm fine."

Namjoon nodded and made his way to the bathroom, then came back out and sat next to Jungkook. Jungkook sighed, he didn't want to talk. It was 3 in the damn morning and he just had one of his worst nightmares yet. He was in no mood. Namjoon put his hand on Jungkook's back but his maknae scooted his chair over so he was out of reach.

"Sorry. I hear you and Taehyung got into a pretty bad fight?"

"Mhm."

"Are you still angry at him?"

"I'm angry at all of you."

"I figured as much," Namjoon replied. "But why would you tell him you don't care about him anymore? That was harsh."

"Because I meant it."

"No you didn't."

"Oh so you're a mind reader now? Is it because of all your stupid books that are supposed to tell you what I'm thinking?"

Namjoon tried to suppress his anger, he loved Jungkook and knew he was upset, but the disrespect coming from him was absolutely bizarre and completely opposite of who Jungkook was. He was acting like a different person. Namjoon took a deep breath.

"I meant it, Namjoon."

"You're telling me you really don't care about Taehyung anymore?"

"I don't care about any of you. After what you all did, I realized there's no point. It's not like you care about me either." Jungkook stared at the water in his cup. "And by the way Namjoon, your stupid brain books aren't working. If you haven't figured out what's going on by now, you're never going to."

"First off, you can say you don't care about us all you want. I won't take that to heart like Taehyung did, because I know damn well you don't mean it. Try to convince yourself you hate us all you want, but it's a shallow lie. And secondly, if I can't figure it out , it'd be a lot easier if you'd just tell me what your damn problem is."

"Maybe my problem is you guys."

"We're all just trying to help you. You know that."

"Well you've all been doing a real damn great job of that, haven't you?"

"It's kind of hard when we don't know what the problem is!" Namjoon was having a hard time keeping his frustration at a low, however he didn't want to wake anyone else up. "I feel like I have tried everything. We have all tried talking to you about what has been bothering you. I suggested therapy-"

"A lot of good that did," Jungkook cut him off.

"Will you stop the disrespect for five damn minutes?!" Namjoon couldn't hold in his frustration anymore.

"Why should I? None of you deserve my respect after what you did!" Jungkook crossed his arms.

"We didn't do it on purpose! What will it take for you to believe that?! We do deserve your respect . Don't forget your place, maknae. We're still your hyungs."

"You're not my hyungs anymore."

"You can't just disclaim us as your hyungs."

"What if I already did. What are you going to do about it?"

Namjoon furrowed his brows and pinched his forehead, he felt like him and Jungkook were going in circles. Arguing was pointless. Clearly Jungkook wasn't going to tell him the root of his issues and just wanted to fight. Namjoon had to give him some credit, all of this arguing his maknae had been up to today must have taken a lot of energy.

"What do you mean what am I going to do about it?" Namjoon was a bit confused.

Jungkook stood up from his chair and crossed his arms. "I hate you, so what are you going to do about it?"

Namjoon stood up. "Stop saying shit like that. You've been disrespectful since we got home. Stop it."

"What if I don't stop?" Jungkook was glaring at Namjoon, "Then what happens?"

Jungkook knew he was testing his leader. He wanted to see what it took to get smacked. He didn't know why, he just had the strong urge to test it. Being under the impression Namjoon didn't care about him he figured it wouldn't take much. It didn't take much for Shik to lay his hands on him, so he wondered how much it would take for Namjoon to do it.

"Then what happens? Do you want to be in trouble like a damn little kid? 'Cause that's how you're acting right now."

"Good."

"Jungkook, seriously, stop it."

"Or else what? What will you do?"

"I don't know," Namjoon confessed. He'd never punished Jungkook for anything. The thought alone was weird. He wasn't the boys damn parent. But he was still the youngest and had no right being so disrespectful.

Jungkook walked towards Namjoon and stood close to him, looking up. "Go ahead and do something about it."

"Maknae, just stop acting like this."

"No."

"Why not?" Namjoon had no idea why Jungkook was being so defiant.

Jungkook didn't know what to say. He also wasn't entirely sure why he was being so bad right now. It's like he was on auto pilot.

"You don't deserve my respect," Jungkook finally answered.

Namjoon took another deep breath and stared down at his maknae. He didn't know what to say.

He turned to walk away but Jungkook grabbed his shirt and pulled him back. "Wait-just hit me." Jungkook figured if he couldn't get Namjoon mad enough to do it on his own, if he just told him to do it, his hyung would finally cave and see it as an invitation. But why the hell would Jungkook want Namjoon to smack him?

"What?" Namjoon asked, thrown off by the question.

"You can hit me," Jungkook offered nervously.

Jungkook felt himself starting to cry. He needed physical proof that Namjoon hated him, so he could stop fighting with his own emotions on whether it was true or not. If Namjoon hit him, that would settle it once and for all and prove that Namjoon hated him. He was already convinced that they all did anyway, and if Namjoon smacked him it'd be all the proof he needed. Then he could feel less guilty about what he had said to Taehyung. It all made sense in his own head.

"Why the hell would you ask me to do that?" Namjoon asked.

"I deserve it, right?"

"No you don't."

"Just hit me already."

"I'm not hitting you."

"Why not?!"

"Why do you constantly think we want to hit you?"

"Because! Bad maknae's are supposed to get hit!" And I am bad, and that's why Shik hurts me.

"Who the hell told you that?" Namjoon was getting concerned. Who the hell was putting thoughts like that into Jungkook's head?

A tear fell from Jungkook's eye. "Nobody-I-I'm just bad, Namjoon. I deserve it."

"You are not bad and no you do not. I don't know who is making you think this way but it's not true. You are not bad Jungkook, and you do not deserve to get hit."

Jungkook stared at him with sad eyes. Then why does our boss think I'm bad, and then hit me?

"I'm being bad right now. Just hit me." More tears were falling from Jungkook's eyes. Why isn't Namjoon doing it?

"Is that really what you want me to do to you? You want me to smack you? That's seriously what you think I should do to you?" Namjoon walked right up to Jungkook and stood looking down at him. Jungkook stared at the floor, waiting to get smacked.

I deserve it.

He saw Namjoon start to raise his hand and tensed up, but all his hyung did was gently grab his chin to lift it up and look at him. Namjoon was crying.

He looked Jungkook in the eyes and saw nothing but fear and hurt behind them. He knew this wasn't his maknae talking.

He pulled him into a tight hug. "You can ask all you want, but I'm not going to do that to you. Stop thinking you deserve it. You're tired. Just go back to bed. Okay?" Namjoon let him out of the hug and gently gripped his shoulders to look at him again. "Hyung will see you in the morning."

Namjoon kissed Jungkook's forehead and retreated to his own room. Jungkook stood there in complete shock. All that, and Namjoon didn't lay a damn hand on me?! He didn't know what to think anymore. He ran back into his room and buried his face back into his pillow and sobbed.

What the hell am I doing?
