The Hands That Hurt Us- Part 14

Namjoon finally lay his head down ready to fall asleep, still cradling Jungkook. He was out pretty quickly, he was completely exhausted. The rest didn't last long, however, when he was stirred awake by Jungkook starting to toss and turn in his sleep.

Namjoon sighed in frustration, he was praying Jungkook wasn't falling into a night terror because if he was being honest with himself, he didn't quite know how to handle them. It had mainly been Yoongi dealing with those, and Yoongi had gotten good enough at it but Namjoon also didn't want to wake his hyung up. Jungkook started whimpering a little but it wasn't turning into anything too serious.

Namjoon was surprised to see the hallway light turn on, sprinkling some light into the room under the bedroom door. He heard someone go into the bathroom and then into the kitchen. He was curious to see who was awake in the middle of the night and decided to leave Jungkook be for a little bit and join his member, he couldn't fall back to sleep anyway. He walked into the kitchen and was greeted by Hobi making tea.

"Hey," Namjoon walked over and sat at the kitchen table, "Can't sleep either?"

"Nope," Hobi replied.

It was obvious that even though he couldn't sleep, Hobi was exhausted. He had dark circles under his eyes.

"Jungkook is having a nightmare and I don't know what to do," Namjoon confessed.

"Right now? Is it bad? Is he okay?" Hobi asked. He was concerned but at the same time completely exhausted and afraid to admit that right now he honestly didn't want to deal with it.

"Just some whimpering and he's kind of restless. I guess as long as he isn't screaming he's okay, right?" Namjoon asked.

"Yeah," Hobi began as he picked up his phone and started looking through a website, "I was on this website before bed and bought Jungkookie a few things that might help his anxiety. I got him this weighted blanket, I heard they help." Hobi showed Namjoon the products on his phone, "And then some fidget toys. Yoongi said the fidget toys might help him stop scratching at his stomach. I guess he told Jungkook he'd try to figure out how to help him with that."

"That's really nice of you." Namjoon rubbed Hobi's back.

Namjoon told him how he was thinking of buying some more psychology books to see if he could learn more about what their maknae was going through. Lately the current one he was reading was starting to not make sense to him but he didn't want to give up. Hobi also praised Namjoon for his dedication.

Crying came from the maknae's bedroom. Namjoon hung his head in defeat. "Ugh. I don't know what to do for him besides wake him up but he needs to sleep."

Hobi paused for a moment. "Wait, listen..."

They both listened and Hobi frantically stood up. "Namjoon that's not Jungkook. That's Taehyung crying."

Namjoon also frantically stood up. "Why the hell would Taehyung be crying?"

They both ran back to the room and opened the door, Namjoon turned the lamp on the end table on. Jungkook was still fast asleep, just a little squirmy, but Taehyung was curled up in a ball. Hobi and Namjoon quickly realized Taehyung was also still actually asleep.

"Please don't tell me he's starting to have nightmares too," Hobi frowned.

He tried to shake Taehyung awake with no success. His dongsaeng continued to cry. His cries weren't the same as Jungkooks. Jungkooks usually turned into screaming and hyperventilating, on the bright side Taehyung was more-so quietly whimpering in his sleep.

"What do you think he's dreaming about?" Namjoon asked.

"I have no idea. Probably Jungkook, if I had to guess. We're all worried about him, I mean. The worry probably caught up to him." Hobi took a seat next to Taehyung on his bed and started to rub his back. Namjoon took a seat next to Jungkook and did the same.

"Could you maybe buy Taehyung one of those weighted blankets too? Or give me the website and I can. If he's going to start having nightmares too I'd rather try to help sooner than later," Namjoon asked Hobi.

"Of course, Joonie. I'll buy him one. What weight? I got Jungkook a 25 lb one but Taehyung is smaller than him."

"Maybe like 15 lbs?" Namjoon suggested.

"Okay. No problem."

Taehyung suddenly shot awake in bed and frantically sprung up, falling into Hobi. Hobi quickly grabbed and hugged him. Taehyung cried into his hyungs shoulder.

"Taehyung?" Namjoon asked from the other bed, "Are you alright?"

"Where's Jungkook? Is he okay?" Taehyung cried.

Namjoon gestured to the sleeping maknae, "Of course he's okay. He's right here sleeping."

Taehyung let out a huge sigh of relief and wiped his tears.

"What happened? If you dont mind me asking?" Hobi asked.

"He went missing and nobody could find him," Taehyung started. "It was so scary hyungs. Nobody in the world could find him. Like he just disappeared into thin air."

Taehyung started crying again as Hobi continued to rub his back. "Well everything is okay, TaeTae. He's right here safe in his bed. He isn't missing."

Taehyung crawled out of his bed and asked Namjoon if he could have his spot in Jungkook's bed. Namjoon stood up and gestured to the empty spot. "Of course."

Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jungkook but immediately let go when Jungkook let out a rather loud whimper and winced.

"Did I just hurt him?" Taehyung turned to Namjoon and Hobi with fear in his eyes. He'd never mean to hurt Jungkook.

"No, just be aware he might be having a nightmare," Hobi informed.

"Oh," Taehyung replied and went to wrap his arms around Jungkook again but his maknae reacted the exact same way as the first time. He turned back to his hyungs, who had gotten up and walked over. They also looked a bit concerned now.

"Why does he only do that when I touch him?" Taehyung asked.

Hobi leaned over and gently poked Jungkook in the rib, and the maknae did the same thing. Hobi lifted Jungkook's shirt.

All three of them wanted to vomit. Taehyung jumped up and backed out of the bed and fell into his hyungs. They had been met with two abnormally large bruises spread across Jungkook's stomach and ribs.

"I think I'm going to throw up." Taehyung covered his mouth with his hand.

Namjoon and Hobi both looked at eachother and then back at Jungkook.

"That-that looks like-that looks like someone literally beat him," Namjoon choked out. He could feel tears coming.

"Are his ribs broken?" Hobi cried.

"How-when-when would that have happened? He never showed signs of his stomach hurting," Taehyung asked.

Namjoon stared at Jungkook for a moment and noticed his chest starting to rise and fall a lot quicker than it was before. "I hate to say this but I think he needs to go to the hospital."

"You do?" Taehyung asked with wide eyes.

Namjoon pointed out Jungkook's breathing. "It could just be his nightmare but if he's breathing like that he could have a broken rib and punctured lung. He needs to go, and right now."

All three of them shook Jungkook awake.

"What?" He asked annoyed once he finally opened his eyes.

"Jungkookie who hurt you?" Taehyung asked immediately.

"What?" His voice was groggy and full of sleep as he rubbed his eyes.

"What happened to you? Who did this?" Namjoon gestured to Jungkook's bruises.

Oh no, howd they find out?

"Oh. I fe-" he started but Namjoon cut him off, "Don't even try to tell us you fell. A fall wouldn't do that. Who did that to you?"

Jungkook panicked. He didn't know what to say, he was too exhausted. He stared at them in silence.

"Who, Jungkook?" Namjoon asked again.

Think, think, think.

"Fans," he lied.

His three hyungs looked at each other confused. "You're telling us our...fans...did that to you?" Hobi asked.

"Uh huh," Jungkook nodded.

"What? When? How? What did they do?" Taehyung asked.

"I-backstage at our concert today fans grabbed me from behind and went crazy. I got knocked to the floor and stepped on. That's-that's why I had a panic attack." Even Jungkook couldn't believe he had come up with such an elaborate lie.

"Why didn't you scream for help?!" Namjoon asked.

"I was scared."

That part was true.

"Jungkook you have to scream for help if that happens. That's not a suggestion. That's a safety protocol. Howd fans even get backstage? Where was security?" Hobi asked.

"I don't know."

"I'll be talking to manager Shik about upping our security at concerts. That shouldn't have happened to you, and you should have said something. You have to go to the hospital," Namjoon replied.

"What?! No! Why?! Hyungs I'm fine, I swear!" Jungkook yelled. He felt like he practically lived at the hospital, on the bright side at least his doctor was really nice.

"You're not fine. Your bruises are hurting you," Taehyung informed.

"How would you know?" Jungkook asked.

Taehyung went up to Jungkook and poked one of his bruises, gently though, and even a gentle poke made the boy whimper.

"Thats how I know. You were hurting in your sleep," Taehyung replied.

Jungkook sighed. He realized this was another battle he wouldn't win. His hyungs were too persistent when it came to having his injuries examined.

"We just need to make sure you don't have a broken rib, or any internal damage, okay?" Namjoon patted Jungkook on the shoulder. "Can you breathe okay?"

"I can breathe just fine," Jungkook crossed his arms and frowned while he watched Hobi call an ambulance.

Namjoon and Taehyung were debating on if they should wake up and tell everyone. Everyone needed sleep, but they didn't want them mad for not being informed.

Taehyung remembered when Jimin had screamed at them the first time Jungkook had been taken to the hospital without anyone telling him until afterwards. They decided they'd wake everyone up.

Everyone met in Jungkook's room and the maknae retold his lie to everyone. Jin sat next to him and held him while crying. He was sick to his stomach that "fans" would do something like that to their maknae.

"Those weren't fans those were sasaengs," Yoongi told everyone.

"Why were you going to lie and tell us you fell again?" Namjoon asked.

"I was embarrassed. It's embarrassing." Jungkook pretended to act embarrassed.

"Don't be embarrassed, if you're hurt, you're hurt. You promised me before youd tell us if you got hurt. You have to keep that promise," Jin told Jungkook.

"Sorry," Jungkook whispered.

Jin hugged him tighter. He felt absolutely terrible. How had none of them noticed Jungkook being grabbed away from them by fans? Jimin had grabbed some ice packs and was helping Jungkook hold them to his bruises.

Once the ambulance arrived the paramedics asked Jungkook some questions, he explained what happened, and they asked if he could give descriptions of the fans but he said he didnt quite remember what they looked like. He was guided into the ambulance and placed onto the stretcher. He asked why he was given an oxygen mask and they told him because when Hobi called he reported that the younger was having trouble breathing.

Jungkook didn't understand why his hyungs were under the impression he couldnt breathe, he could breathe fine. He took the oxygen anyway.

The members decided to all go to the hospital together, they all wanted to be there for their youngest. When they got there they were immediately reunited with Jungkook in a hospital room and Jungkook's doctor quickly came in. The man really seemed to take priority to Jungkook whenever he showed up, the members really appreciated that. They could tell this doctor really cared about him and that made them feel good.

However, they did still wish they didnt have to meet so often.

The doctor frowned at Jungkook as soon as he walked in the door. "It's been weeks. I had my hopes up for you, kiddo. What happened?" Jungkook let out a big sigh before retelling his big giant lie to his doctor as his doctor lifted his shirt to look at his bruises.

"Where was your security?" The doctor asked everyone.

"Apparently MIA," Namjoon frowned.

The doctor held a stethoscope to Jungkook's ribs and listened for any trouble breathing. The members held their own breath.

"His breathing is normal," the doctor informed.

The members all let out a sigh of relief.

Jungkook looked at them. "I tried to tell you."

The doctor took Jungkook to do x-rays on his ribs and some other tests to make sure he didn't have internal damage. The members were ecstatic to actually hear good news for once. No broken bones, no internal damage. The ordeal only caused cosmetic damage and the doctor reassured them the bruises looked a lot worse than what the damage really was.

Jungkook just needed a lot of rest, ice packs, and water. The doctor told Jungkook that if his bruises were causing him discomfort he could prescribe him some more pain relief cream. Jungkook told him he still had plenty left at home. Jimin grabbed Jungkooks hand and frowned, as happy as he was the youngest was okay, it still really sucked seeing him in the hospital, yet again.

"Also," Namjoon gestured to the doctor, "He's going to be starting therapy. Do you have any therapist recommendations for people who deal with stuff like anxiety disorders?"

The doctor turned to Jungkook. "Well is that so!? I'm glad to hear you're looking for help. Absolutely! I can write up a list of my recommendations with their ratings and reviews and you can pick who you think is best. Let me get that for you right away!" The doctor left and the members were alone together.

Jungkook looked around and decided maybe now would be a good time to apologize.

"Hyungies I'm really sorry." Jungkook realized he wanted to cry. He truly did feel absolutely terrible for what he had said to them during their fight.

"For what?" Taehyung asked.

"For the things I said to you earlier. I didn't mean any of it. I know you're always there for me. Just like you are right now. I didn't mean to yell or swear at you all. I'm really sorry."

The members looked around at eachother and felt their hearts explode. They honestly didnt expect an apology.

"What you said was really mean, Jungkook. And it was disrespectful. You should never talk to your hyungs like that. However, we also shouldn't have cornered you and told you what to do, that was our fault. We're sorry we yelled at you too. I appreciate your apology," Jin hugged Jungkook.

Jungkook looked at the rest of the members waiting for their response. Everyone seemed to easily agree with Jin and accept the apology, and they all apologized back.

"Just know if you yell at us like that again you're sleeping outside," Hobi smiled.

"Got it," Jungkook laughed. He felt like he really didnt deserve them. Yet the universe gave them to him anyways and he couldnt have been more grateful.

"You all mean so much to me. I love you guys." Jungkook smiled at them and they all came over and embraced him with a gentle hug. The doctor came back with quite a lengthy list of therapists. Apparently he had a recommendation for every mental issue out there. He handed it to Namjoon. "Thank you so much," Namjoon bowed to him.

"Not a problem! If you find one you really like and have trouble contacting them let me know and I will make sure to get in touch and set something up for you. I am here to help and support you any way I can."

"Thank you for caring about me so much," Jungkook smiled at his doctor.

He felt like a lot of doctors in the world didnt care to be all that personal with their patients, but his doctor had been so extremely helpful with everything since the day he was brought in with a sprained wrist. That almost felt like a lifetime ago at this point. It had also been extremely hard for Jungkook to trust strangers ever since Shik came along. He was grateful he had a doctor who didnt just wheel him into other rooms to beat him up and call it a day. His doctor had been nothing but supportive and kind, to all of them. He gave Jungkook hope that not everybody out there was a monster .

"I do generally care about all my patients, but I will admit all of you are probably the most respectable people I've ever met. I can't help but care."

The members smiled, they were also super grateful. The doctor asked if there was anything else they needed and they told him no. They were released to go home.

Yoongi looked at his phone and groaned. "We have to be at work in three hours." The rest of the members groaned with him. They were all exhausted and felt like they could sleep for a lifetime.

"I hate to suggest this but can we all just call out? What are we doing today? The photoshoots right? What if we call manager Shik and say we all have food poisoning or something?" Taehyung suggested.

The members hesitated. They already all felt super behind schedule and like theyd already missed quite a lot of work, but at the same time the idea of going home and sleeping all day felt like an absolute dream.

Jungkook got nervous. "What if he gets mad?" He asked.

"Then let him be mad. What can he really do about it?" Jimin replied.

You don't want to see manager Shik mad, Jimin-ssi. He does a lot of things.

"I'll call him in a little bit. Honestly I agree with Taehyung. We need the day off," Namjoon told the members.

Jungkook was glad he had a leader to do the things he was too afraid to do himself. Everyone picked up their stuff and headed home. Namjoon told everyone not to bother setting their alarms, to just go to bed and sleep for as long as they needed and he'd set his own alarm when he needed to call. Everyone thanked him and headed to bed.

Yoongi dug through his closet and found an old heating pad he had bought a while ago for some shoulder pain. He brought it to Jungkook's room and plugged it in and waited for it to warm up. He told Jungkook to put it under his shirt, it would help ease the pain of his bruises. Jungkook thanked Yoongi and the rapper patted his head before retreating back to his own room.

Jungkook looked over and saw Taehyung had miraculously passed out within seconds. It actually made him feel bad. He knew his members had to be absolutely exhausted constantly taking care of him, they were always there for him anyways. They always put him first. He didnt feel like he deserved it, knowing all he ever did was lie to them. He wished he could think of a way to pay them back somehow. Before he knew it he found himself drifting off to sleep. The heating pad actually did feel really good against his skin, it was relaxing. He passed out not long after Taehyung.

For what felt like the first time in forever, everyone was actually getting rest. Even Jungkook.

Come morning, the dorm was quiet. Namjoon had called manager Shik and told him they were all sick. Shik seemed annoyed, but Namjoon was too exhausted to really care. He figured he'd deal with being lectured later if he needed to, but right now he needed the sleep. It wasn't until almost one in the afternoon that everyone stirred awake.

They met up in the kitchen to eat and everyone thanked Namjoon for calling. Jungkook froze when he heard someone knocking on their front door, he'd rather it be the devil himself instead of his manager. He let out a sigh of relief when Jimin opened the door and it was just the mailman with some packages.

"Hobi hyung these are yours," Jimin grabbed them and almost dropped them, "What the hell hyung , what did you order, bricks?"

"Even better," Hobi smiled while prying open his packages, "Blankets!"

"Why are they so heavy?" Jimin asked.

"They're weighted blankets for Jungkookie and Taehyungie," Hobi replied.

Taehyung and Jungkook both came over to look at them. "Thanks hyung, but why?" Taehyung asked.

"To help you guys sleep." Hobi pulled them out and handed them to the two.

They were surprised with the weight of them.

Hobi also pulled out a few fidget cubes and spinners and handed them to Jungkook. "These are per request of Yoongi."

Jungkook held them and turned to Yoongi. "What are these for?"

"Just keep them in your pocket and when you feel like scratching yourself play with those instead," Yoongi replied.

Jungkook wasn't sure how to reply to that. He didn't know if that was going to work or not. He wasn't aware of when he'd start scratching himself, it would just happen. If anything, everyone else seemed to be way more aware of it than he ever was.

"Those came in fast, you just ordered these last night." Namjoon came over and was checking out the stuff Hobi bought.

Hobi winked at him. "Expedited shipping."

Jungkook and Taehyung lay right in the middle of the kitchen floor to try out their blankets.

"Must you two do that right here?" Jin chuckled.

The two ignored him, as they usually did, and pretended to sleep. They switched blankets but Taehyung decided he definitely liked the lighter one more, Jungkook's was a tad too heavy.

Hobi watched as the two youngest started giggling and laughing with eachother on the kitchen floor. It was nice to see Jungkook laughing, it seemed like he didn't do that all that much anymore.

Hobi thought about how Jungkook always seemed happier on days they weren't at work and wondered why Jungkook chose therapy over not taking the break he was offered. He realized it probably related to what Yoongi had said about how Jungkook already had a break and still had anxiety returning to work. He realized a break was nothing more than a short term fix to a long term problem. He was proud of Jungkook for choosing therapy.

Surprisingly the rest of the day remained pretty uneventful. Everyone fell into small naps here and there and Jin would periodically remind Jungkook that he needed to be drinking plenty of water because that was his doctor's orders.

Namjoon let them know the photoshoot was rescheduled to the next day, and reminded them he still wanted to call that meeting with manager Shik about them not doing performances for random events they didn't know anything about, he also told them in the meeting he was going to bring up Jungkook's therapy.

"Wait, why does manager Shik need to know about the therapy?" It made Jungkook nervous. Shik had no reason to really know, especially because Shik would be fully aware the therapy was because of him.

Jungkook was nervous that Shik would hurt and threaten him even more about not saying anything to his therapist about what was going on.

"For scheduling reasons. If you have to set up appointments to meet the therapist he has to know about them so he can schedule other events accordingly," Namjoon informed him.

"Oh." Jungkook realized Namjoon was right.

The rest of the night went quickly. The weighted blankets seemed to help immensely. Neither Taehyung nor Jungkook woke up with nightmares, and everyone felt a lot more rested for the day.

When they got to work, Namjoon asked manager Shik if they could quickly meet with him. He appeared to have some down time so he had everyone gather in one of their conference rooms.

"Are you all feeling better?" Shik asked.

They hesitated answering knowing they had lied about being sick, although Yoongi went pretty unbothered. "Yeah, we're fine now. Thanks."

Namjoon brought up his concern about not being comfortable with the event they had been forced to do and he discussed his reasoning.

Shik seemed to be taking notes and said he'd "take it into consideration." Namjoon also then talked about his concern over the lack of security.

"What do you mean lack of security? We had security," Shik asked confused.

"Jungkook got beat up by fans," Jimin pointed out.

Jungkook tensed up as soon as Shik looked at him. He wanted to disintegrate into thin air. Unfortunately that wasn't humanly possible.

"What happened?" Shik asked Jungkook. Jungkook could see the slyness in his bosses eyes. He knew Shik was waiting to hear this oh-so elaborate lie.

Jungkook hesitated. "I uh-uhm-"

"He was grabbed by fans and stepped on. He has some bruises. We need more security," Taehyung spoke up.

Shik asked a few more questions about it, he needed to make sure the members didn't suspect him of anything. He said he'd 'add it to the list' of things he was writing down.

"Oh and one more thing," Namjoon started. Jungkook felt his lower lip quiver. He knew what this was about.

"So we're trying to help Jungkook deal with his anxiety and he agreed to therapy. We haven't set anything up with anyone yet, but I wanted to let you know so we could work out some kind of schedule." Namjoon took out the recommendations that Jungkook's doctor had printed for them and handed it to Shik, "Do you recommend anyone on this list?"

Jungkook wanted to drop dead. The last person he wanted picking his therapist, was manager Shik.

Shik looked over the list. "Therapy, huh?" he gestured to Jungkook.

Jungkook nodded silently. He felt his throat go dry and didn't even want to dare talk.

Shik looked over the list. "I will look into these."

"Thanks. Once you think you've found a good one I can contact them and we can work on setting something up," Namjoon suggested.

Jungkook's heart skipped a beat when he saw his manager look directly at him while answering Namjoon.

"Don't worry about setting anything up," Shik smiled.

"I will do it."
