The Hands That Hurt Us - Part 10

"That guy is an asshole!" Jungkook yelled, still crying against Taehyung.

"Yahh, watch it, maknae. Don't talk like that. He's our boss, and he didn't mean to spill the medicine on you. The cap came off, it was an accident," Jimin yelled back.

Everyone could tell Jungkook was in an extremely bad mood now, which wasn't something that happened often. The members tried to finish cooking dinner as fast as possible and told Jungkook that after he ate, he needed to try to go to bed. It was late and he needed all the rest he could get. To add to that, none of them wanted to deal with a moody Jungkook either.

They had pork belly and white rice, with a side dish of ramen. While the rest of the members cleaned up, Hobi offered to help the youngest get ready for bed. He trailed behind him to his room.

"My head hurts, hyung," Jungkook complained as he started changing into his pajamas.

Hobi patted his back. "I know, I know. It won't hurt forever though."

It was the only solace he could give, really. Jungkook sat on his bed and took his socks off when Hobi saw a bruise on the bottom of his foot, there wasn't a cut on it anymore, but Hobi could easily tell that there was one before.

"What did you do?" Hobi pointed to Jungkook's foot.

The maknae stared at it, and then back at his hyung. "I have no idea."

Hobi furrowed his eyebrows. "Oh right, right." Obviously he isn't going to remember right now.

Hobi couldn't help but feel a little bit angry at Jungkook. He knew there had been blood on the maknae's sock when he found it in the laundry. Berry juice my ass! Why did he lie to me?!

He wanted to scold the youngest for lying, but he knew at the current moment in time it would be pointless because Jungkook lost his memory, and he would have had a hard time scolding him anyways. The boy was full of stitches and bruises, he had a wrist brace on, and he was just screaming in pain earlier from the antiseptic medicine, there was no way Hobi could stay mad for very long when all he felt was sympathy, sadness, and guilt every time he looked at Jungkook.

Jungkook laid down and Hobi sat on the bed next to him, running his fingers through his hair to try and help him fall asleep quicker. It seemed to be working as Jungkook's eyes would flutter closed but then he'd open them again, he was fighting falling asleep.

"Hyung?" he asked. His voice cracked, indicating that he was trying not to cry.

"Yeah?"

"What if I never get my memory back? I'm scared. I can't even remember who I am or who you are. I want to remember. Hyung I want to remember." A tear finally slipped down his face.

Hobi felt his bottom lip quiver as he was now the one holding back tears. "You will, maknae. This isn't forever. You just have to take care of yourself and be careful and you'll be better in no time. And hyungs are here to help you through it." He wiped the tear that finally escaped.

As much as Hobi wanted to stay and comfort Jungkook, seeing him be in this kind of pain was becoming too unbearable for him. "Now get to sleep, alright? Goodnight Kookie." He kissed him on the forehead and stood up.

Jungkook grabbed Hobi's hand to stop him from leaving. "Goodnight hyung. And thanks."

Hobi fought back more tears and smiled at him before turning and leaving the room. He ran into the bathroom and locked the door behind him, letting himself fall to the floor and cry. He was absolutely terrified that Jungkook might never get his memory back, but he'd never admit that out loud. Especially not to Jungkook. After finally composing himself he went back out into the kitchen and let the members know he was going to bed, they all said goodnight and agreed that they should all get some sleep.

Taehyung made his way into the room and saw Jungkook was fast asleep. He looks terrible.

He frowned while he crawled into his own bed. More often than not, if one of them was injured or sad they'd share a bed to comfort each other. Taehyung really wanted to cuddle, but didn't know if Jungkook would have been okay with that or not, so he fought against the urge to crawl into bed with him. He lay there for hours trying to fall asleep, but he couldn't.

A million thoughts raced through his head about everything that's been happening lately. He was thinking of the things the doctor had told them about him possibly being abused, and the things Namjoon had mentioned reading in his psychology book. It worried him badly, although he still couldn't make sense of it. Nothing explained why Jungkook kept falling, if that is what was truly happening to begin with.

He wondered if maybe someone actually was hurting Jungkook, but shook that thought out of his head as he had full confidence that if anyone was hurting him, Jungkook would have come to them. But what if he wouldn't come to us about someone hurting him? No he would. But what if he wouldn't? Why wouldn't he, though? He knows how protective we are.

Then an even scarier thought popped into his head, what if Jungkook couldn't ?

He lay there in his bed wrestling with his own thoughts, finally convincing himself that clearly Jungkook was just being really clumsy lately. That was the only explanation that made sense. Although at the same time it didn't make sense considering his maknae usually wasn't this clumsy. He turned to his maknae and could see his face lit up by the moon shining in through the window.

The moonlight made his stitches glow in the dark. It became too painful to look at him though, and Taehyung was completely restless. He decided to get up and get some water. He made his way into the kitchen in the middle of the night and grabbed a glass of water before sitting at the kitchen table. He crossed his arms on the table and put his head down on them, he must've been more tired than he realized because he fell asleep in this position. Not much later, he was startled awake by someone putting their hand on his back, he looked up to see Yoongi standing above him, also holding a glass of water.

"Are you alright?" His hyung asked him as he took a seat right next to him. Yoongi kept his hand on Taehyung's back as an act of comfort. Yoongi was never the most expressive about feelings, especially physically, but lately he had been and Taehyung would be lying if he said he wasn't starting to enjoy this new side of Yoongi.

" I guess I just can't sleep," Taehyung replied quietly.

"Yeah, me either."

"I'm really worried about him, hyung."

"So am I." Yoongi sipped his water. He was never one to verbally express his feelings either, so Taehyung was a bit intrigued.

"What do we do if he never remembers us?" Taehyung asked.

"Do you want me to be completely honest with you?" Yoongi asked.

Taehyung nodded.

Yoongi paused for a moment. "I don't know what we'd do."

That definitely wasn't the comforting answer Taehyung had been hoping for, but at least his hyung was being honest.

"You don't think he'd be kicked out of the band or anything do you?" Taehyung looked at Yoongi with concern.

"Oh of course not, we would never do that. We'd just have to retrain him or something." Yoongi chuckled at the fact Taehyung even thought kicking Jungkook out of the band was a possibility. They'd never get rid of their maknae.

His smile quickly faded, however, and now he was also frowning. The thought of Jungkook never remembering him was scary and it was something he tried not to think about.

"Hyung I was thinking about what the doctor said earlier. You don't think Kookie is lying or hiding something from us do you?" Taehyung asked.

"What do you mean?" Yoongi gave him a questioning look.

"I mean the abuse thing...what if his injuries lately are because of someone else?" Taehyung couldn't stand the thought.

"You really think he's in some kind of secret abusive relationship or something?" Yoongi asked.

" I don't know. Maybe?"

"If he were in a relationship he'd have told us about it before it even had time to get abusive. Namjoon is reading that weird ass psychology book and he knows like everything about the human brain or whatever. If he's not worried about an abusive relationship then we shouldn't be either. He's just been a clumsy kid lately. Besides, who would dare hurt him anyway? They know there'd be huge consequences and not to mention he's the cutest maknae ever."

Taehyung nodded in response. It made sense to him. Yoongi started rubbing his back, " He doesn't even have time to date, he's always with us. If anything, he's pretty much just dating us." They both laughed.

"When he does get his memory back, I can't wait for him to tell us how he managed to hurt his head so badly. I mean I don't understand what he could possibly have done," Taehyung said.

"He had to have been playing on the chair, considering it was tipped over next to him. He was probably standing on it and he fell," Yoongi answered.

"Yeah, probably." Taehyung leaned his head back onto his arms on the table.

Yoongi stared at him while continuing to rub his back. Considering he felt like a shitty hyung lately, he thought the least he could start doing was be more openly caring towards his members. Especially so he wasn't labeled neglectful again. He didn't think such a small comment would stir around in his mind so much, but for some reason it had. He knew Jimin was over dramatic a lot of the time, but he really took that comment to heart.

"Tae?" Yoongi grabbed his attention. Taehyung didn't lift his head but he tilted it to look up at Yoongi.

"I uh...love you." Yoongi wanted to cringe but he needed to say it. Taehyung smiled up at him.

"Aww hyung you're so cuuuute!" Taehyung laughed. He sat up and started pinching Yoongi's cheeks. "Hyung loves me!"

"Yeah, yeah. Don't make me regret saying it!" Yoongi laughed as he pulled away. "But I do love all of you, really." The two hugged for a moment before hearing crying coming from Taehyung's room.

Taehyung looked at Yoongi pleadingly. "I can't help him right now. It's too painful to see him hurting." Yoongi nodded, as much as it hurt him to see Jungkook in pain as well, he was the hyung here and knew he needed to act like it.

He patted Taehyung on the back. "Don't worry about it. I'll go check on him."

Taehyung put his head back down. He couldn't help but feel his heart flutter a little bit, had him and Yoongi just had some kind of heart to heart? He didn't even think that was possible.

Yoongi made his way into the bedroom and turned the light on. Jungkook was still fast asleep, but he had tears spilling out of his eyes. Yoongi got anxious, he didn't want him to wake up screaming again and having a panic attack like the last time he had a nightmare. He went and sat on Jungkook's bed and grabbed his hand, rubbing the back of it with his thumb. He stayed silent. Jungkook was mumbling stuff again in his sleep but it was incoherent. He sat there trying to see if he could figure out what the maknae was saying in his sleep , unfortunately he couldn't as all that came out was more mumbling and whimpers.

"You're okay," Yoongi whispered.

He guessed Jungkook couldn't actually hear him, but he figured he could at least attempt to be comforting. Jungkook's nightmare wasn't letting up. Yoongi attempted to google how to wake someone up from a nightmare but didn't come across anything remotely helpful. He sat there and decided to rub Jungkook's chest. He saw movement under the blanket and lifted it to see Jungkook's hand was scratching the hell out of his stomach. He inspected it and he had red scratch marks lining the bottom of his stomach right above his waist line. Yoongi wondered why on earth he'd be itchy in his sleep.

"Hey now don't be doing that. You're going to hurt yourself." Yoongi knew he was really just talking to himself, so he brushed Jungkook's hand aside but his hand immediately went back to scratching.

He held Jungkook's hand down at his side, he wasn't quite sure what to do. He was grateful that at least his maknae's nightmare didn't have him screaming in terror this time. His maknae continued to quietly cry to himself instead. Yoongi continued rubbing Jungkook's chest and holding his hand down. He looked at the doorway when he heard someone walking towards the door. He figured it was Taehyung. He was surprised to see Jin appear, carrying Taehyung while the younger was dead asleep.

The two stared at each other. They both found this a bit of an awkward site.

"Hey," Yoongi chuckled.

Jin stared back. "Hey? What are you doing?"

"He was having a nightmare and he keeps clawing at his stomach," Yoongi pointed to Taehyung, "Is he good?"

"Oh, yeah," Jin said as he slowly placed Taehyung into his bed and tucked him in. "He was passed out at the kitchen table. I figured his bed would probably be a little more comfortable."

Jin made his way over to Jungkook's bed. "He's scratching again?"

Yoongi nodded. "Again?"

"He was doing it the other day too. I thought he had a rash or something." Jin also inspected the scratches. He could see scratches but he didn't see any kind of actual rash.

"Huh, that's weird," Jin said. "I have an idea, hang tight."

He ran away for a moment and came back with nail clippers and handed them to Yoongi. "He can't scratch himself if his nails aren't long enough."

Yoongi grabbed them and picked up Jungkook's hand, holding one of his fingers. Yoongi was about to start clipping at his nails but hesitated.

"What's wrong?" Jin asked.

"What if I hurt him?" Yoongi gave Jin a concerned look.

"Why would you hurt him?"

"What if he moves or something and I accidentally clip his finger? Have you ever accidentally clipped yourself with one of these? It hurts like a bitch."

"Well...just don't do that," Jin told him.

"Wow hyung, you're right. Why didn't I think of that before?"

Jin frowned. It was obvious both of them were exhausted and Yoongi was definitely cranky. "Want me to do it?" Jin asked. Without saying anything Yoongi handed the clippers to Jin.

"Can you keep rubbing his chest or something? It seems to keep him calmer," Jin requested.

Yoongi sat there and did as requested. Jin gently started clipping Jungkook's nails for him while he continued through his nightmare. Thankfully his nightmare seemed to end as he wasn't making noise anymore or moving at all, so Jin was able to finish the job injury free. Now Jungkook's nails were short enough where he couldn't scratch himself with them anymore.

"Alright, there." Jin stood up. "He seems okay now. Let's leave him alone."

Taehyung rolled over in bed and without even opening his eyes mumbled in annoyance, "Hyungie's, shh!"

"Yeah yeah we're going. Goodnight," Yoongi said and the two eldest turned the light off and closed the door. They made their way into the kitchen .

"Yoongi-ah you should try to get some sleep," Jin suggested.

"I'm not tired," Yoongi informed him.

"Yes you are." Jin could very easily tell how cranky Yoongi got when he was tired.

"Am not."

Jin himself was too tired to argue. "Aish..." He whispered as he grabbed a drink from the fridge. It seemed like most of them were having trouble sleeping tonight.

Yoongi and Jin both sat on the couch in silence for a while. They suddenly heard the maknae's door creaking open and watched to see Jungkook walk out. They couldn't help but both feel even more cranky. Why wouldn't that boy just sleep through the night for crying out loud? He's never going to heal if he doesn't rest. Jungkook didn't see them sitting on the couch. He went into the kitchen and pulled a glass cup out of the cabinet. Jin got up and ran to him, "Hey! What did we tell you about using the glass cups?"

Jungkook stared at him while Jin yanked it from his maknae's hands.

"Uh, not to drop them? I don't know," Jungkook told him.

"I told you when you broke the second one to only use the plastic ones."

"I never broke two I only broke one! When did you say that?!" Jungkook protested.

"Today!" Jin tried to remind himself not to take his overtired crankiness out on his maknae. He had to remind himself the boy has a concussion, maybe he just forgot.

Yoongi also came over. "Wait...when did you only break one?" He asked curiously.

"The other day, hyung. Remember I accidentally dropped one cause of the thunder? Earth to hyungie!" Jungkook grabbed his head. "Holy crap my head hurts."

"Wait, what else do you remember?" Yoongi tried to suppress his bubbling excitement. Could it be?

"What do you mean?"

Jin chimed in, "The last few days, what do you remember?"

"Uhm, we shot some videos for a live broadcast and worked in our studios." Oh and manager Shik showed up in mine and hit me with a chair. "After that I'm not sure. Last I remember is being in my studio and now here." Honestly what the hell happened after that?

Jin and Yoongi both smiled big and gripped Jungkook into a tight hug.

"You're back! Jungkookie, you're back!"

Jungkook was confused.

Where did I go?
