The Mysterious Shooter

Kid's POV

After everything that happened earlier between Soul and I, I felt kind of bad about asking him to keep our relationship a secret for now. I mean, I know he probably understands why, but I still felt bad for asking that.

"Hey Kid whats with the guilty face?" Maka asked me as we were walking to my place for food, with everyone else, but we had all split into little groups, and Soul and I didn't want to cause too much suspicion about our relationship, so he decided to go talk to Liz and Patty while I talked to Maka.

"What do you mean?" I asked, snapping out of my train of thought.

"You know, your pretty bad at hiding your emotions if you dont pay attention." Maka stated. "You just had this look like you felt guilty. Why?"

"It's really not something I really prefer sharing." I told her. "It would make me feel worse if I did share it."

"How do you know that?" Maka asked me.

"Because the reason I feel bad is that I asked for someone to keep something a secret that I can't really tell you what the secret is because it would make me feel like a terrible person for asking for it to be kept a secret if I just shared it, because the secret is mine and the other persons secret that we share." I explained.

"I didn't follow any of that." Maka said.

"Okay, maybe if I used an example it might help." I said."Say if.... I don't know, you were in some kind of secret relationship or something. I'm not saying that's my situation, this is just an example. If your partner in the relationship was asking the you to keep it a secret, and you agreed, how would you feel if he just went off and told people he knew about your relationship even though its supposed to be a secret?"

"Pretty mad." Maka replied.

"Exactly. Something happened, and I asked Soul to keep it a secret, just between him and I. I don't feel like doing that to Soul."I said.

"So you and Soul have some kind of secret?" Maka asked.

"Yeah."  I said.

"So why couldn't you have just said that in the first place?" Maka asked me.

"I don't know." I rubbed the back of my head, kind of nervous that she may find out about Soul and I.

"Hey you guys watch out!" Soul yelled, pulling me closer to him, and pushing Maka out of the way at the same time. and I heard a loud bang. Everything happened so fast, but I could tell that bang was a gunshot, and before I knew it, I heard a gun drop and the sound of someone running away. I looked back at Maka, and saw a red mark where a bullet grazed her arm, and Liz had caught her. If Soul hadn't moved Maka and I, one of us would have gotten shot.

"How the hell were you able to tell that someone was going to shoot a gun at one of us?" Maka asked.

"I looked back for a second and saw the guna aimed at one of you. I couldn't tell which one of you, so I tried moving both of you out of the way. But nevermind that. Are you okay, Maka? It looks like the bullet grazed you." Soul said.

"It hurts, but I think I can manage." Maka said. "It's nothing to be worried about."

"Maka, you should at least put a bandage around your arm before we go eat." I pointed out. "You wouldn't want to get an infection in your arm, would you?"

"Okay, how about you, Liz, Patty, and Soul all go grab us a table at the diner and the rest of us can try going to the schools nurse and try explaining what happened." Maka said.

"Okay, We'll see you in an hour or so?" Liz asked.

"I guess." Black Star said. "Let's go guys!" Black Star, Tsubaki, Crona and Maka all walked off talking to each other, leaving the rest of us behind. I looked over towards Soul and smiled.

"Thanks for saving me, Soul." I said. "It's pretty cool how you were able to save both Maka and I."

"It was nothing, really." Soul replied with a slight blush on his face. "Besides, it wasn't all me. Maka would have probably gotten a bit more scratched up if Liz hadn't caught her."

"Hey do you guys want to stop by our house real quick? I'm getting tired of carrying this dress around, plus, we have a bunch of time to kill." Liz said.

"Sure, Let's go." Patty replied. We all four started walking towards my house, Liz and Patty in front and Soul and I following behind at a distance, holding hands and still hoping nobody we knew saw us.

"So the party's in just a couple of days?" I asked.

"Yeah, its after school on Halloween." Soul answered. "So as soon as school lets us out we need to go."

"That should be easy. We just need to bring our clothes with us to school, I guess." Kid said.

"But forget the party. I'm more concerned with the fact that someone tried to shoot you or Maka earlier." Soul stated. "If I hadn't noticed the guy, one of you would be dead. That's not something I can just easily ignore."

"I understand that, but there's not much we can do about it unless you saw his face." I replied to him. "I'm not saying that I'm not worried or anything, but honestly, without knowing what the guy looked like, you can't really do much about it."

"I got a glimpse of his face, but it seems like it was too short of a glance to get anything from it." Soul said.

"Soul, chances are we may run into him again. I'm not saying that would be a great thing, but at least when we find out who it is we can deal with him."  I told him.

"But we could easily get the element of surprise if-" Soul started to say, but I cut him off, smacking my lips against his.

When I pulled away,I only pulled back to where our lips weren't touching, and I told him, "I don't care that you didn't see his face very well. I care about the fact that you saved Maka and I. And if it ever happens again we can run after him. But it isn't like thinking about what happened is going to help us any unless you got some clear details from his face. But you've done enough to help. Stop sounding like you could have done more than you did, because if you looked at him any longer, someone would have been dead."

When I pulled back to where I could see his entire face, he was completely red. His eyes were wide like he was shocked that I kissed him and told him that. "Kid, someone's behind you." Soul told me, suddenly going from extremely red to the whitest I had ever seen him get. I turned around to see someone in a hoodie, with most of his facial features covered with his hood and his black hair, but I could easily identify him from looking at his right side and seeing the beginning of three white stripes.

"Joseph?" I said, wandering if I was right.

"How the hell can you tell who he is you can't even see his face!" Soul asked. "and who the hell is Joseph?"

"I see you didn't even tell your little boyfriend here that you have a twin brother." The guy in the hoodie stated.

"What?" Soul looked at me in a really confused and shocked way.

"Maybe if you were somebody worth mentioning I would have said something." I said, gritting my teeth. Last time Joseph and I saw each other, it wasn't on the best terms. He had been the one to start telling people in the town I had lived in before that I was gay. He constantly made fun of me for it, and it caused us to constantly fight, too. Eventually, I just wanted to cut him, along with the rest of my past out of my life. That was why I moved to Death City in the first place.

"Did you really think you could get rid of me that easily, Kid?"
