16 years had gone by, and Connie and Steven were engaged. Serena Clod Universe was now 16 years old, and was looking for work. She was like any other teenage girl.

She wanted to leave Beach City, and move to London or Paris or Tokyo. She just needed to start working. She was old enough. She had applied for many jobs, but none of them wanted her.

She was sitting on the shore when she saw a bright light.

"They're here..." Serena mumbled.

She had long brown hair and green eyes. She wore a tan shirt, a green jacket, gray skinny jeans, black boots, and a red scarf.

She walked into the temple, and was welcomed by Garnet, Amethyst, and Steven.

"Hey." Said Serena as she waved.

"Hello." Said Garnet.

"Wassup Serena!" Exclaimed Amethyst.

"Nothing much... Really." Said Serena.

"Any luck on finding a job?" Asked Steven.

"Not yet." Serena replied.

The front door opened, and Serena turned her head. It was Steven's fiance.

"Hey you guys!" Connie chimed.

Serena waved slowly.

"I'm supposed to give you lessons on swordfighting today, Serena." Connie explained.

"Seriously?!" Serena yelled, "I never agreed to that! Heck! I was never told!".

"You said you'd learn whenever, Serena!" Connie stated.

"I'm going!" Serena yelled as she walked out the door.

She ran out the door, and soon got to the barn.

"Hi Serena!" Yelled Peridot.

"Hey Peridot..." Serena mumbled.

"Are you okay?!"

"Not really..."

"Why?!"

"Steven's fiance, Connie wants to teach me to swordfight. But I don't exactly want to learn."

"Then say something!"

"It's no use... They never listen..."

"Hey Serena." Lapis said, coming out.

"Hi Lapis." Said Serena, feeling down.

"I know what to do..." Said Lapis as she picked up Serena, and then flew her into the barn.

Serena liked Lapis and Peridot better than Garnet, Amethyst, Steven, and Connie. She stayed with at the barn overnight, but hung around in town or on the beach all day.

"What happened?" Asked Lapis.

Serena explained her story again.

"Then just try it one time to shut them up..." Lapis suggested.

Serena nodded slowly. Was it really what she wanted to do? She knew it was the only option.

"I guess I will..." The teen decided, "But tomorrow..."

The next day, Serena came to the temple. To her surprise, Garnet, Amethyst, Steven, and Connie were waiting for her. She just facepalmed, and groaned.
