Chapter 4:

4: Crash

Andrew

The train stopped with a lurch, and the lights went out. "What's happening?" I asked.

"I-I don't know!" Juniper cried.

"What's going on?" Malcolm, the victor that was training us turned on a torch. He went over and pulled up the blinds.

I stared out of the window in shock. The front half of the train was hanging over the edge of a broken bridge. Water glistened beneath it like diamonds.

There was a sudden squeal of the wheels, as the train slid along the tracks, headed straight for the water.

Marina

"What's that?" I pointed towards a nearby bridge that had a hole in the middle of it.

"It's a bridge- oh no." Percy muttered, getting out of his seat, face pale.

"What?" Reyna asked.

"There's a train about the go over the edge!"

"Oh gods." Reyna cursed, and pulled on the emergency brake. The train slowed to a stop, and I opened a side door. There was only water below.

"You're not going anywhere!" Reyna demanded. "I'll go."

Percy shook his head. "We're children of Poseidon, the god of the sea. There's a better chance that we'll be able to help." With that, I leaped out of the train, Percy right behind me

We speed down towards the water, and Percy raised his hands. The water rose up to meet us. We rode it like a surfboard, and sped towards the bridge.

The train that was speeding towards us had an owl logo on it, so it must've come from the Athena district. It slowed down a bit, but it was too late to stop completely. The front part of train went over the edge, falling towards the water.

There was a scream, as a girl who I recognised as Annabeth Chase leaped out of her train carriage, diving towards the water. "Go get the others!" Percy yelled at me, then sped off to save Annabeth.

Annabeth

The train started rolling towards the water. I opened my window and climbed up so I was perching on the ledge. Then I jumped out of the train, and plummeted towards the water below.

A scream escaped my lips, as the water came rushing towards me. Pain erupted from my body as I bellyflopped into the water, and it almost made me black out.

I started to sink to the depths below, but I kicked my feet, and propelled myself forwards. Suddenly, something wrapped itself around my leg and pulled me back down. Pointless, the water seemed to say. Life's pointless.

My mind whirred. The thing that was wrapped around my leg dragged me down even further.

Pointless.

I stopped struggling. Just as my vision turned black, I felt strong arms wrap around me, and haul me towards the surface.
A/N: oh gods... I am SO sorry for not updating this. My writers block is killing me!
