"Imran hurry up! We're going to be late!" I sighed and tugged on my t-shirt. Sometimes I wonder why I'm friends with these people. I was still kinda wet from the shower and making wudu so the shirt clung to me. I frowned and grabbed a sweater and my backpack. It was already 7:15 and class starts at thirty. Jafar screamed my name again so I quickly grabbed my keys and ran down the stairs.

"I'm here, I'm here why are you screaming?" he smirked and shrugged. I grabbed a pancake and shook my head. I didn't eat anything yesterday and my stomach was killing me. After the incident at the park I slept for a while and woke up for salat so basically I haven't eaten anything in two days.

"Eat faster subhana'allah man. Were short on time here" I smirked back at him and slowly bit into my pancake until he narrowed his eyes at me and glared. I laughed and smiled when Hana skipped down the stairs smiling widely with a heavy backpack. She's doesn't have school until later, why is she awake? I placed my plate in the sink and picked her up.

"Hey champ, why are you awake so early? School doesn't start for you until nine?" She smiled at me and pointed to her backpack.

"I'm going on a field trip with my class today to the Zoo. Mom is coming with me so we won't come home until maghrib. But don't cry though, well be back so you won't have to spend the night alone." I chuckled at her and messed up her perfectly fixed hijab.

Mom came in with her purse and keys and gave me a warm smile. I sighed and pulled her into a hug. "Salam mom, how are you?"

"I'm fine son. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow so I won't be here to pick Hana up from school. Can you do that for me?" I nodded and kissed her forehead.

"Of course mom. Take it easy at the zoo okay? Do you want me to go, I can stay from school today-"Her eyes widened as she glared at me.

"Young man, don't you dare and try to trick me into making you stay, and I'm fine. It's just the zoo, what's the worst that can happen?" I raised an eyebrow and smirked at her. The zoo is the most chaotic place to bring kids. The loud screams and laughs, the running, the animals, and the stinky smell. Its going to be nothing like she imagined.

"Good luck Mom, you're going to need it." I kissed her cheek and grabbed my backpack off the counter and frowned when I seen Jafar having a conversation with Hana.

"--don't leave you water bottle on the floor or anything. If you lose sight of it for even a second throw it away. Don't trust anyone, even dolly, your friend. Friends could turn behind your back and deceive you. Don't go to the bathroom by yourself, and make sure you stick with aunt khadijah okay? If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to touch you or harm you; call me. I'll come and Kong fu them back to the hell hole they came from okay? Most importantly, no matter what you do, stay away from the giraffes; they can kill you. Now repeat back everything I just told you." I sorted back a laugh and pulled him by the shoulder before he scared her even more than he already did. Her jaw was wide open as she starred at him wide eyed and terrified.

"Goodness man, what's wrong with you? She's going to the zoo, not a mafia house. Why would you tell her that?" Jafar gave me an absurd look and opened the door to the car.

"You're a bad brother Imran. You're supposed to warn her and teach her what out there. You never know, zoos are dangerous especially for kids her age." I rolled my eyes and started the engine.

"For the last time Jafar that giraffe in second grade wasn't out to kill you, he just wanted the grapes in your bag." Jafar shook his head and buckled his seat belt and gave me a terrified look.

"No man, you didn't see the look in his eyes. It was like he was sent from another world to strangle me with his over grown monster size tongue. It was all up in my face and his beady eyes were right in front of me. No, that thing was a killer and there's no doubt about it." I laughed at him and drove down the block until the school came into view.

The bell rang and me and Jafar both panicked and ran out of the car. If Mr. Flemings catches us, were busted. Detention won't be the last of our worries, Mrs. Porter was the detention teacher and she hates us after we accidently killed her iguana by feeding it skittles.

I locked the car and ran for the front door with Jafar at my heels and rammed into Mrs. Salmons room. The whole class quieted down and watched us as we panted and sighed when the last bell rang. We made it Alhamdulillah. I wiped my forehead and stood up.

"Mr. Mohamed. Mr. Osman, do you have a reason why you're interrupting the class." I closed my mouth and shook my head slowly and ran to my chair. Jafar shrugged and sat down.

"Sorry Mrs. Salmon. We'll be quieter the next time." I smirked and shook my head. This guy has a death wish.

"Hey Flynn, the next time you try to make a successful escape, make sure you at least come prepared." A deep sigh escaped my lips as I rolled my eyes at Salma but froze when I realized I left my backpack in my car. I panicked and glared at Salma as she laughed at me silently.

I raised my hand and gave Mrs. Salmon a huge smile in hopes she'd let me go. "Mrs. Salmon, can I go to my locker. I forgot my notebook when we barged in and I'm really sorry about that." she glared at me and watched the clock.

"You have five minutes Mohamed." I thanked her under my breath and made a bee-line for the door. Today really isn't working out for me.

I silently ran down the hall and opened the front door when it was slammed shut from behind me. I winched and closed my eyes. I knew who it was just by the authority in his stance.

"Mr. Mohamed. Ditching is not tolerated in this school." He grabbed his pink notepad and started to write when I panicked and shook my head. Please don't be a

"No sir, I was getting my-"

"Detention. Today or I'll meet you this Saturday in the gym. Your choice." I sighed and snatched the pink slip from his hands. This was my second one and I didn't even start semester two yet. Mom is going to freak when she hears about this.

I walked to the car and grabbed my bag and walked back to class. I silently sat down and ignored the silly faces Salma was giving me. I really need some time to rest; school is seriously stressing me out.

Mrs. Salmon passed out the assignments and I grabbed it and ran out of the classroom. It was second period and I didn't have class. Unfortunately neither did Jafar, Salma, Abdullah or Anisa. There go my hopes of any peace and quiet before detention.

I walked into the library and sat down in the corner of the room, behind the shelves. It was quiet and the smell of books circled the entire area. I sighed closed my eyes. Peace.

"No, Abdullah they could've made Pluto Mickey's friend but no, they put him on a leash and expected him to be an obedient dog while Goofy went about like a normal person. That's not fair." Jafar said and sat down beside me. I frowned and turned to Anisa and Salma who looked just as annoyed as I was.

"What are they talking about?" Salma shrugged and sat down on the table farthest from us.

"Beats me, they're your friends. Ask them." I shook my head and mentally slapped myself for even thinking for a second that Salma could have a soul. I turned to them both and sighed in frustration when I seen them yelling at each other.

"-you just don't get it. If they both were his friends then who would be the dog?"

"There wouldn't be a dog because they'd be his friends. Why make one more superior than another when they're both dogs!" Ja'far told Abdullah, his face creased out of frustration. The librarian turned to us and shushed us while mumbling Russian words under her breath.

I frowned at them both and shook my head. "Guys, it's a cartoon for crying out loud. Why are you making such a big fuss about it? Quiet down, you're ruining the peace." I closed my eyes and sighed. Jafar and Abdullah just continued bicker but my I ignored them and silently read ayah kursi in my head and closed my eyes.

This was going to be a long day.

Metal.

The smell of metal instantly shot up my nose. Rusty, dull metal and iron. The breeze was sort of thicker like it was polluted and heavy. Pecks of sand creased the top of my fingers as I dug my hand into the ground.

Just metal.

I sat up and flinched when a piece of iron poked the inside of my hand. My jeans had specks of dusts pilled against it. Where am I?

I stood up slowly and carefully and observed the whole area. My eyes widened as I looked at the scene that unfolded before me.

The sky was pitched black except a faint light that blinked and flickered hovering above my head. Fog underlined the street and sidewalk. My eyes roamed around for anyone but no one was in sight. Tall polls of wire were stacked to the left along with barbed wire. Long black tracks outlined the floor before me. I inhaled and immediately started to cough when the smell of iron invaded my nose and taste buds.

I shook my head and closed my mouth with hand and turned around when the ground suddenly started to shake.

My body jolted to the side from the impact and landed in the tracks. I screamed and clutched my leg when it got clasped between two tracks. The pain shot up my leg like a wild fire and instantly increased my body temperature. Blood slowly started to ooze and I panicked when the ground started to quiver and shake.

The train was coming.

I pulled at my jeans and screamed when it punctured my wound. The blood started to drip like a faucet off my leg and a pool developed from under me. The fog increased and seemed to surround me.

My breaths became heavy and my face started to pale. The blood from my head rushed my leg and I became light headed. The world in a circular motion until I blinked and tried to clear my sight.

I pulled at my leg and but my lip when the pain only increased. Specks of iron and dust touched the wound and I screamed in pain.

"Help!" I frantically looked around and screamed and screamed but it was no use.

The loud sound of the train engine roared from the exist closest to me. The ground shook harder and harder. I bellowed into the darkness and ripped off my shirt and attempted to wrap it around the wound. My fingers shook and my eyes started to dilate and I couldn't see well.

The loud sound vibrated in my body and my head jerked up when the train lights beamed in my eyes. It was nearly s couple feet away now.

I screamed when I couldn't get a hold of the fabric and started to pull at my leg but only made the wound grow bigger. My mind came to one conclusion.

I'm going to die.

I quickly started to chant the shahadah and closed my eyes when a small light appeared from the corner of my eyes. Before I could turn and scream help the ground beneath me shook from the loud impact of the train burning against the metal train tracks.

The train lights beamed into my eyes as It came full speed at me. My heart thumped in my chest underneath me and I kept quiet. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep dark slumber.
