Chapter 11 Winter Soldier
Everyone please welcome.... BATUMBRELLA! The best umbrella you can have! Superman tested!

Skye had been spamming me. I hadn't responded simply because I was trying to process everything she had said.
The Avengers were being asked to sign a document that would stop them from saving people without authorization. Peggy had died. Skye had flown a drone down the aisle at her funeral. Skye, Sam, and Steve were all quietly coming to Vienna so that they could make sure nothing went wrong. None of them were signing.
I looked down at the tablet and read all of Skye's messages again. I felt like I should know who Peggy was. The only thing I could remember was her standing by Steve somewhere. I couldn't remember the place or what she had looked like. Just that she had been next to Steve.
I hadn't left my tablet at my hideout since Skye had almost gotten crushed. I'd gotten a hold of a backpack and packed it with food and my book that held memories I'd written down. I kept the tablet in the bag when I wasn't using it and hid it under a loose floorboard in case of an emergency.
I lay on the couch. According to Skye the signing of the Sokovia Accords was going to be happening any minute now.
My eyes closed and I relaxed. I hadn't stopped watching for the last couple of days except to sleep. I was worried that someone would come to try finding me.
I must have drifted off because when I next opened my eyes the sun was right outside the window.
A boom shook the ground. I shot bolt upright in alarm. Explosions never meant anything good. I waited for several minutes before I moved.
I retrieved my tablet from the bag a second before it dinged. Someone just blew up the UN building where the signing was supposed to be. T'Chaka was killed, Nat's alright as far as we know. Steve's working on getting the details.
I took a deep breath. Let me know if anything important happens. I'm going for a walk.
Is that a good idea?
I didn't respond to that. It probably wasn't. I put the tablet back in my backpack and ran out the door and down the stairs. I didn't slow down until I reached the market.
I didn't need food, but I purchased a plum anyway. I started eating it as I wandered around. A nearby newspaper stand was getting another box filled with new papers that couldn't have been printed more than an hour ago. The owner of the stand opened one up and started reading.
I looked down at my watch. It had been an hour and a half since I'd left my hideout. It hadn't seemed like that long. Skye had probably told me everything that was going on and asked why I wasn't back yet.
I was just about to start heading back when I realized the stand owner was staring at me. He noticed me looking and quickly left his stand. I frowned and walked over, picking up a paper.
On the front page was a picture of me walking away from the UN building. But I wasn't there. How did this happen? The headline read, "The Winter Soldier Blows Up United Nations".
I looked up. This was the kind of emergency my bag was for. I set down the paper and sprinted toward my hideout.
My plum must have dropped out of my hand at some point during my run, because it wasn't there when I shoved open the door and started running up the stairs.
I stopped just outside the door to the room I'd been using. Someone was inside, I could hear them moving around.
I pushed the door open cautiously and stepped inside, closing the door behind me. Steve was standing just in front of the fridge looking at something. I stood in front of the door, rooted to the spot. How did he find me here?
Steve must have realized I was there. He turned around and looked at me. His shield was strapped to his back and he was wearing his Captain America suit.
After a moment of silence he took a deep breath. "Do you remember me Buck?"
"Yes," I said uncertainly. "Skye's still giving me stuff once in a while."
Steve paused, listening. "Buck, we need to leave. There are some people who are coming to find you."
I eyed him warily. I don't know why I was nervous. It was probably because he was standing right in the only path to where my bag was hidden.
Down the stairs I heard something crash. Sorry Steve, I thought. I lunged forward, knocking Steve to the ground.
Steve tried to push me off. "Buck! You're going to kill someone!"
I glanced nervously at the door. "I'm not killing anyone," I whispered. I didn't have time to pry the board up, so I smashed it with my left hand and yanked my bag out. I threw it out the window onto the roof of the next building and ran for the door.
An entire team of people were coming up the stairs, blocking the door I needed. I shoved them out of my way, fighting my way down the stairs toward the door. I tried not to kill any of them.
I threw one man away. Steve leaned over the edge of the railing and caught him, glancing at me just before I ran through the door. I jumped over the edge of the balcony and dropped toward the roof.
I landed on the short wall that ran around the edge of the roof. I rolled off the wall and scooped up my bag. I started running toward the opposite end, dodging the metal boxes as I went.
A shadow fell over me and I turned. A man in a black cat style suit fell toward me. I shielded myself with my metal arm as the man fell on me. I crashed into the ground, my bag flying off my shoulder, and rolled out of the way of his next strike. I swung at him. He caught my arm and threw me against one of the boxes. I gasped and jerked out of the way as his claws dug into the metal, cutting long scratches where my head had been.
He moved fast, leaping on top of me and pushing his claws toward my face. I caught his wrists and strained to hold him back. His head shot up to look at something. I curled into a ball and threw him off. I rolled, grabbed my bag and leaped over the side.
I landed on a small ledge about twenty feet down and looked up. The man leaped onto the corner and dug in his claws. Long scratches followed his fingers as he slid down the wall.
I jumped off and landed on the road. I saw an oval hole a short distance away and ran for it. Out of the corner of my eye, just before I jumped down, I saw Steve running behind the black cat.
I hit the pavement and a car swerved, the driver laying on the horn. I sprinted down the road. I glanced back to see the man and Steve jump down. There were at least a dozen police cars coming after us.
I ran onto one car's trunk and over the roof and hood. I needed something faster. I saw a motorcycle. I made a sharp turn and grabbed the handlebars. The person on it took one look at me and jumped off. I swung it into the air and put my leg over it. When it landed I was safely on board and speeding down the road.
Someone shouted behind me. I looked up to see Sam fly over my head with the man holding onto his legs. Fear pulsed through me and I grabbed a sticky grenade and threw it above me. The overpass exploded and Sam flared his wings to stop himself.
The man let go of Sam and reached for me with his claws extended. He hit the back tire of my motorcycle, which exploded. I flew over the handlebars and landed on my back. The wind got knocked out of me. We rolled for a long way.
There was a screech and crunching of metal. I stopped rolling as the man towered over me. He raised a hand to strike. Steve dove toward him, knocking him away.
The man stopped himself with his claws. I pushed myself up and we stood facing each other, tense and ready to fight.
A man in a gray metal suit landed in front of Steve and I. He pointed a glowing hand at each of us. "Stand down," he ordered.
The police cars surrounded us. I looked at Steve. He scowled and swung his shield onto his back.
"Congratulations Cap," the metal man said. "You're a criminal."
I looked to my right and saw two people standing side by side on the sidewalk. They both held a phone and kept looking at us. They both wore black baseball hats. One was Skye, the other I didn't recognize.
I tensed as someone grabbed my shoulders and pushed me down. Steve shot me a warning look. I didn't fight.
The cat man reached up and took off his mask. He looked vaguely familiar.
The man in the metal armor inclined his head. "Your Highness."
Steve didn't say a word. He just stared at the man while someone I couldn't see handcuffed him.
