part twenty six : real life
It was only 7 am when Nancy and Willow barged into Fred and Eddie's room to collect one (or both if Eddie was up at the time) of them to start their first adventure of the trip. The three teens took the train to a little café right near the Eiffel Tower for breakfast. They had croissants, crepes, coffee, and mapped out tons of different places to visit throughout the week.
Nancy was always one for planning things ahead, that's one of the things Willow liked a lot about her. She gave off very 'mom friend' energy, especially with Fred. The two of them had been like two peas in a pod ever since Jonathan had moved to California.
As far as Willow knows, Nancy and Jonathan's relationship seems to be going strong. While she has gotten over her crush on Nancy there are still some lingering feelings that come with it. Mostly from the fact that she never confessed her feelings and had no closure.
Now, she's trying to navigate her growing crush on Eddie while also not wanting to let herself get too attached in case things go south. That seemed to be what always happened with Willow, things going south. At least if things were to go south she always has Robin and Steve to be there for her, something she didn't have when she was going through getting over Nancy.
The three headed back to the hotel, Fred going off to attempt to wake Eddie and Nancy and Willow opening the door to their room to find utter chaos. Robin and Vickie's suitcases were both open, clothes all over the room. Robin was standing in the doorway to the bathroom wearing one of the hotel's complimentary robes and drying her soaking wet hair. Vickie was sitting on the floor in front of the door to the balcony doing her eyeliner in the small mirror of her blush compact. 'You Belong With Me' by Taylor Swift was blasting through a portable speaker and Robin was lip syncing along to it.
Nancy and Willow stood in the doorway for a second, too stunned to speak.
"Uh, guys?" Willow asked.
Robin shut off the hairdryer.
"Oh there you guys are. We wondered what happened to you," she said.
"We got breakfast with Fred."
"And planned half of the trip," Nancy added.
"We love a go-getter," Vickie said, still concentrating on her eyeliner.
When Robin and Vickie finally finished getting ready the girls set out to meet up with Fred and Eddie. Their activities of choice for the day were to go to the Louvre during the day, do some shopping, and see the Eiffel Tower at night. Fred and Nancy were leading the group, basically being the group parents. Robin and Vickie were gossiping about all the different foods they wanted to try. Which left Willow and Eddie trailing behind.
Eddie kept glancing over at Willow who seemed to not be paying him any attention. She was either looking at a map in her hands or looking around at the different sights. Eddie finally decided to get over himself and just fucking talk to her.
"So....are you excited for the Louvre?" he asked.
"Yeah. You?"
"Yeah."
....
"Um, what actually is the Louvre?"
Willow burst out laughing.
"It's an art museum, dumbass."
Eddie smiled at the fact that he made Willow finally laugh and smile. Things had been tense between the two for a while now but he didn't know why.
Fuck it.
"Is everything ok with you? Ok with us?"
Willow's smile faded.
"What do you mean by 'us'?"
"I just feel like things have been awkward, I don't know."
Willow crinkled her nose. Yeah, awkward is an understatement. She wanted desperately to just tell Eddie what was on her mind but didn't really have the courage to. She thought back to Steve who has a very 'talk first, think later' mentality when it comes to confessions. Willow huffed.
"I think when you commented 'sick' on my Instagram post I just took it the wrong way or something."
Eddie raised his eyebrows at the girl.
"I didn't mean it like 'oh, sick' I meant it like 'oh! sick!" Eddie made rockstar hands dramatically.
Willow smiled.
"Ok good. Sorry for being in such a funk."
"And I'm sorry for not leaving tone indicators."
