part seventeen : real life
It had been a few days since Willow and Eddie had hung out. Willow has been preoccupied with assignments, work, and hanging out with Steve and Robin. She was the type of person that once she caught herself starting to fall for someone she would distance herself as much as possible. Fortunately for her, Eddie was not one to give up easily.
It was 5:30 on a Friday night, Willow and Steve were doing their shift when Robin came in the door in her uniform.
"I thought you were off today?" Willow asked.
"Your boyfriend asked me to cover you," Robin smirked.
Steve smirked as well.
"What do you mean he asked you?"
"Well I suppose you'll see. He also asked me to grab you some extra clothes," Robin handed Willow a change of clothes.
"How did you get into my house?"
"You leave your windows unlocked."
"Because my room is on the second floor?!"
The bell on the door rung and interrupted their argument. Eddie strolled up to the counter.
"Ladies, Steve."
Steve nodded his head and Robin smiled.
"You should go get changed, we're losing important time here," Eddie said to Willow.
Willow simply shook her head and went to the bathroom to change. When she got in Eddie's car he cranked up the music and began the drive.
"Where exactly are we going?" She asked.
"That's the fun part, it's a surprise," Eddie almost squealed in excitement.
Willow asked no further questions and decided to relax and enjoy the drive. They listened to Eddie's playlist, with him singing along occasionally which made Willow giggle. When they finally arrived Willow knew exactly where they were.
"The arcade?! How did you know I love this place?"
"Please, you have a video game collection, of course you love the arcade," Eddie smirked as an excited Willow ran up to the door.
They played games for hours, Willow beating Eddie at most of them. He claimed it was only because he was more into board games. (Willow decided she would kick his ass at scrabble at a later date.) Eddie had been saving up his tickets, as well as picking up extra ones off of the ground and ones that were left behind. At the prize counter there was a squishmallow, which thanks to both Robin's advice and the few that were on Willow's bed, Eddie knew she loved. It was 1,000 tickets, but he was determined to get it for her.
When the end of the night rolled around, Willow excused herself to the bathroom. Eddie quickly counted up his tickets, 872.
"Shit," he said mostly to himself.
"Something wrong?" The person at the prize counter, who he recognized as Vickie, said.
"I'm trying to win over this girl and I need that stuffed avocado but I don't have enough tickets," Eddie pointed viciously at the avocado squishmallow.
"That girl with the pink hair?"
Eddie nodded.
Vickie eyed Eddie up before grabbing the squishmallow off the shelf and handing it to Eddie.
"Go get her," she said with a wink.
Eddie thanked her profusely before preparing himself to present the gift to Willow. When she came out of the bathroom Eddie said,
"I have one last surprise for you."
Willow raised her eyebrows and Eddie pulled the stuffed animal out from behind his back. Willow's eyes lit up and she smiled so wide Eddie felt his heart melt.
"Do you like it?" he asked.
Willow simply wrapped her arms around Eddie and hugged him.
"You are something else, Eddie."
