BONUS CHAPTER 1: Melanie lies better than me
Would advise to read chapter 17 again.
*Author runs and hides in a corner*
It's only morning and I'm already tired. I came back earlier this morning and here I am, in my office, working. Maybe I should have taken some rest?
I try to concentrate but my mind wanders to a certain brown haired woman wearing a black lingerie.
GET OUT OF MY MIND!!!
I open my drawer, take a tablet of Advil and gulp it down. I try to massage my temples and sigh deeply.
Work! Rick work!
I played with the paper weight while reading a file.
Hmmmm...I wonder if red would suit her or not. I already saw her in a red dress but- GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!
I groaned loudly, banged my head with the file and ran my hand through my hair.
Get out! Get out!
Knock! Knock! Knock!
I arranged the file in a hurry, adjusted my tie and cleared my throat.
"Come in." I again try to concentrate on the file but then I hear somebody's heels.
No need to guess.
"Good morning, Mr King."
Argh. It's useless to work now so I decide to stop for now.
I look at my dear assistant and give her a smile. "Good morning, Miss Green. How can I be of your 'assistance' today?" I make air quotes and she raises her eyebrows.
Does she remember? If she doesn't then she's up for a surprise.
"I want some answers."
"Oh. I'm sorry Miss Green, but haven't asked me any questions that I can answer." I try to lighten the atmosphere between us but I think she's getting highly suspicious of my behaviour.
"Please don't stand Miss Green. Have a seat." I point to the chair in front of me and she takes a seat.
"So Miss Green, what do you want to ask?"
"Like I said, I want answers but for that I want you to be completely honest with me. No lies, no twisted answers, just plain simple truth." I'm pretty sure she's a bit confused about what I said back at the club.
"The truth is not always plain or simple, Miss Green. But I'll try my best to answer your questions." I answer her honestly. She nods her head in understanding.
"I have a condition. I can pass any one question, I don't want to answer and I can say a lie in anyone of these questions." I can never know what her questions could be. Better safe than sorry.
She first looks at me shocked then thinks for a bit.
"Okay. Why did I went to the VIP room where you and your friends were there?"
Does she think that I'm a fool and I'll not realize what she's trying to do?
"You were drunk. I don't know why. But you were. You came to our booth, cracked a silly joke with Mr Ford and asked me for a leave, saying that you were drunk and probably gonna have a massive hangover the next morning so I granted your sudden leave." I tell her the truth nonchalantly.
"I remember that." I'm trying hard not to smirk.
"I know." Her mouth forms an o shape.
"Next question please."
"Is your friend, Mark, a trustable man?" Ah. The protective friend.
"In what sense?" I ask her.
"In relationship sense." Mark's an idiot. If he screws this up, I'll personally chop his jewels off and gift them to Anna.
"Mark has many cases of bedding women every other night. I was not very much surprised when I found out that he is currently with Miss Smith. There are many possibilities that he might break her heart. I would advise our friend to be careful of him."
I have grown attached to that woman only in one meeting. Even though Arianna would be perfect for Mark, one can never know about his ways.
"I remember about talking to a man having blonde hair and blue eyes...." If she remembers so many stuff then what in the world does she wants to know?
"Richard Venetta. He has his own chain of hotels and clubs. The club in which we went was his." I cut her off, trying to hide my growing annoyance.
"Yeah... He's the one who is married and has a pregnant wife. He's Italian?"
"Yes."
"What about Jason?" Can't you just go straight to the point?
"What about him?"
"How do you guys know each other? All of you are in different fields. Are you guys college friends?"
"You guessed it right. We all went to same college and were roommates too." I answer her.
"Miss Green, I believe that we are going off topic." I inform her.
"Yeah, you're right. Sorry."
"Apology accepted. Now carry on."
"I remember that Richard got a call and later Jason also left to get more drinks. What happened after that?" Now things are gonna get interesting.
My turn to test your honesty Miss Green.
"You passed out. I dropped you. That's it." She narrows her eyes on me.
"You're lying Mr King." If you knew then why did you ask?
"How can you be so sure Miss Green?" I ask her finally having some interest on the conversation.
"I do remember some things that you said to me but I have a hard time believing it." Oh really?
"What do you remember?" I ask her getting curious.
"You.....you apologized to me."
That I did and I meant it. I can say those again and again and never get tired. She did help me change my behaviour towards my employee and I'm very grateful for that.
"And why would I do that?" I ask her, hoping she would help me to know my answer.
"That is what I want to know. Why would you apologize to me?" Oh great. I'll never understand why I even apologized to her.
Maybe she can help me. But for now...
"I choose not to reply this question."
She looks at me shocked but soon recomposes herself. Looks like she was eager to know.
"Okay. What happened after I passed out?"
"I picked you up and placed you in my car. I drove to your address-"
"You dropped me home? How did you knew my address?" She has to be the most careless woman ever.
"You know Miss Green, you don't have a lock on your phone. It was quite easy for me to search a message in which you texted your address to your friend named Kathy."
"Did you went through my other messages?"
Oh my God. I have officially lost hope on humanity. I help her reach home safely and this is what I get in return?
I respect her privacy. I had no right to see her messages.
"No." I answer her hoping she would believe me.
"What happened after you placed me on my bed?" Now that's an interesting part.
"You threw up." I say in a bored tone.
"You threw up and I couldn't leave you like that so I placed a glass of water and few tablets on your nightstand. I called one of my maids to your apartment. She cleaned you up and the floor. She changed you into your night dress and we left." I heard Lydia curse for the second time in my whole life. I prefer not to talk about the first time.
It was raining...bad memories shoo away!
She stays quite then speaks again. "Okay. Why did you call me the next day?"
Can somebody please help me? She's not stopping. After everything, she is still stuck in my mind.
"I couldn't find a file on your desk so I called you but you were sleeping." Fuck. File? What file? Why can't I simply say that I was worried? Even Melanie lies better than me. This woman is making me go nuts.
"Why did you came to my apartment?"
Try again. She's just a human being. Not your sister. Try to say it. Come on. Be a man. Be a man. "I was thinking about your well being. When I called you the third time, you were still not picking up. So, I stopped by."
That's better. Easy as a pie.
Suddenly the tension between us rises. What the.....
"How did you end up in my room and how long were you there?" She asks me avoiding my gaze.
Oh dear God.
"Anna told me to wait but I... I got curious and went to your room." I scratch the nape of my neck, looking straight to the bookshelf in front of me.
That was something which will always be carved on my mind.
Black or red? Red is.....SHUT UP!!
"And how long were you there?" Long enough to see you dropping your towel, opening your wardrobe and seeing things.
"Not long enough. I sat on the bed when you opened your closet. I thought you would notice me but then you dropped your....um...well you know after that." Is she not done yet? I've already lost my concentration, I don't wanna lose my mind.
"Are you done with your questions?" I finally ask her, getting embarrassed and annoyed.
"Yeah."
"Good. You may leave." Still black is sexy. Oh my God!!!! What am I gonna do?
I walk over to my desk and pinch the bridge of my nose.
Get out! Get out!
"Elizabeth..." She stops on her tracks and faces me.
"Black suits you." Well I'm already fucked, better tell her I liked...SHUT UP!!
She blushes deep and runs away. I groan loudly. Maybe I shouldn't have told her that?
Author's note:
He lied and then told the truth!😂😂
I'm pretty sure nobody must have guessed that.
We have a very troubled Eric here.😝😝 Who can't choose between black and red.😂
