Noah sat at the picnic table inside the school courtyard, wearing a pair of black reading glasses, an open book in his hand. It was Romeo & Juliet, the book version; not the play version. He was sitting alone, enjoying his read, blocking out the green noise around him.
Most would call him a nerd or drama geek because he was a part of the drama club and he loved reading books like the one he was reading now. Others would say that he had excellent potential to be something great in the future. It was strange since he couldn't even see where he might be in the near future.
Someone stopped in front of the table and Noah looked up. Who he saw brought a smile to his face. "Hey Leanna."
"Hi." She said, smiling back. Leanna took a closer look at the book he was still holding in his hands. Her smile widened and she said, "Romeo and Juliet huh?"
Noah frowned for a couple milliseconds before realization set in and he chuckled airily, glancing down at the book in his hands. "Oh yeah. I read a lot and it's one of my favorites. Have you read it?"
Leanna sat down next to him, nodding. "Yes. I'm also a drama geek. Since I moved here, I've been meaning to join the drama club."
"That's cool." Noah said. They sat in silence for several moments, Noah staring out across the courtyard, observing other students milling about and mingling with their peers. "So, between the two of them, who's your favorite?"
"I have to say Juliet because she really set an example. She made a point that love is worth dying for." Leanna told him. "Juliet was brave to take her life when Romeo died. She believed that even in death, they would still love one another. What about you?"
"Both really. They both loved each other with all their heart and whether they said it aloud or not, they vowed to do whatever it took to stay together that way." Noah paused. "They couldn't live without the other so they chose not to."
Leanna raised an eyebrow at him and he laughed suddenly, glancing down at the book and then back at her.
"I'm a hopeless romantic, you can tell me."
Leanna smiled at him and said, "Then I must be too."

Noah woke with a start, surprised and upset that he'd been dreaming about that day as if it had happened yesterday. He hadn't been having dreams about her since they had all gone their separate ways. Now that they were here together, reunited, the memories he fought so hard to forget, were resurfacing.
(A/N: Cue the music guys.)
Noah rolled out of the bed and made his way to the bathroom, opening the cabinet mirror and grabbing the tooth-paste. He picked up his toothbrush from the holder, ran it under some water, and squeezed some paste on it.
Once he had finished brushing his teeth, he walked back into his room, ruffling his hair. He walked over to the dresser and pulled a drawer open, rummaging through it for something to wear. Noah pulled on a pair of black jeans, a white t-shirt, a blue jean button down shirt and his brown hiking boots.
Noah took a look at himself in the mirror and nodded in appreciation before grabbing his phone and heading down the stairs. Walking into the kitchen he was greeted by Raelay, Alianna, and Hayden.
"Morning Noah!" Raelay said.
"Hey." Noah smiled.
"Hey, so we're going hiking today, you wanna come?" Hayden asked him.
Noah walked over to the middle counter, grabbing an apple from the bowl sitting on it. "Yeah sure. I'll come."
"That really cute guy, John, he's going to be coming with us." Raelay said with a sigh of contempt.
Alianna rolled her eyes. "Only because he offered to. And you have a boyfriend, you can't go swooning over him y'know."
"Actually...I don't. We broke up two weeks ago." Raelay told them.
No one spoke after that bit of news. Once the silence became too awkward, Noah took a bite of his apple and said, "Who wants to go wake the others up?"

Two hours later Noah, Raelay, Alianna and Hayden were out in the wilderness for their hike, led by John who Noah had for the most part been talking to. They were becoming fast friends and he was taking to the girls nicely. He was friendly to Hayden and was overall a pretty cool guy.
Noah wasn't sure what made him suggest it but he wanted to climb the rockface by the highway and visit the waterfall that was there. There was apparently a lake close by that the river and waterfall flowed to.
John had simply given him a look and a smile before agreeing and now they were climbing. At first it was easy to find foot-holds but then it became harder as they neared the top and Noah struggled to find them. He reached a foothold and as he tried to pull himself up, his foot slipped and a yelp escaped his lips before Hayden, the first to reach the top of the rockface, grabbed his hand and began to pull him up.
Once he was safe, Noah let out a sigh of relief, lying on his back as his heart continued to pound against his chest.
"You okay man?" Hayden questioned.
Noah just laughed relieved. "Never better."
__ __
Someone in a cabin not far from the rockface that Noah and his friends had just finished climbing was mopping up a red substance from the wooden floor of the kitchen. The figure was dressed in all black and a hood shadowed their face.
The person finished up mopping and dropped the dirtied mop back into the bucket of bleach and water before moving to the slumped over figure of a woman wrapped in her own bedsheets and plastic.
The man stared down at the woman's body, a feeling of remorse and guilt of what he'd done washing over him as his eyes-too dark to tell what color-softened. But then a voice in the back of his mind reminded him of why he did it and his eyes hardened, straightening from his kneeling position.
The bitch deserved what she got anyway. After all, she was the cheating wife of a wealthy man who came to this cabin in order to get away from everything work related in his life. To spend time with his family.
The man scowled down at the woman who he admitted had been beautiful in her earlier years. He would have had fun with her himself but he couldn't risk his DNA being found on her body. Besides she was just a means to an end. Useless when it came down to it.
No one will miss her anyway, the man thought to himself, a twisted smirk forming on his face.
