Chapter 2: The First Day part 3
Previously:
Twilight, who recently became friends with her new comrades, started some of her daily tasks, but now she has to go into the walk-in freezer ... just how much space do queens need, anyway?
I walk through, carefully noting how much we've got of everything. We're not almost out of anything. It's the start of the week. I make the trek back.
When I exit the large pantry, I decide to quickly check the walk-in fridge. It's seriously another walk in! It's not as extensive, but it is chilly. Thankfully, it has coats on the side.
Once I reach the end of the fridge, I find a door. It probably leads to a freezer. Shuddering, I enter. I find sealed thermostats. At least I'll be prepared.
Of all the walk-ins, the freezer is the smallest, for which I am grateful. I quickly take stock and make the return trip. When I get out, breakfast is ready, most of the laundry has been done, dishes are done, the table is clean, the floor is spotless, and the common room looks great.
Everybody had just ended their chore. I sigh, and start to eat the applesauce Applejack had prepared. I spoon it up hungrily. There is a pretty hearty helping of the stuff. I can't finish it, which is weird. Applesauce shouldn't be so filling. "What did you put in this stuff," I ask.
She chuckles, "Just some apples from mah farm. Sweet Apple Acres. Also, some water. But that's nothin' special."
My eyes widen. "Did you grow these apples."
Applejack nods. "Yep indeedy! Sweet Apple Acres grows the best apples in all of Equestria. Really fillin' too. I remembeh when the Flim-Flam brothers tried ta takeover mah farm. They didn' have what it takes ta grow apples."
"I remember that!" Rainbow Dash says. "It was on the news."
Applejack nods. "Thank God that they decided ta rush."
I blink, confused. "I don't watch TV"
Everybody looks at me, weirdly, except Sunset. The silence is awkward until Pinkie says, "We'll have to fix that!"
We all start laughing. Except for Sunset. Of course.
Queen Celestia walks in. "It's time for your training."
Sunset, Starlight, and I visibly brighten. Training meant books, magic, and battles. Everybody else slumps. I don't get it. Training has always been the best thing ever. Surely they had training back home! What kind of self-respecting family didn't force their children to go through deadly obstacle courses, read books, and perform dangerous spells?
We walk to the training grounds. I wasn't sure what to expect. Things would undoubtedly be different. Queen Celestia brings out the weapons that were in our common room. She sets them a couple of yards away and walks over.
Queen Luna then sits down in front of us. "Guardians, pay attention. Will Twilight be ok?"
I look around, "There's nothing wrong with me."
Queen Luna snaps her fingers, and suddenly I'm falling off a cliff. "Aaaaaaah!" I don't know where my friends are. Suddenly, Applejack grabs my hands while the others crowd in, trying to help. Luna is gone, but her presence can be felt. "Don't let me go, don't let me go!"
Applejack hesitates for a moment. "Let go, Twilight. Ya'll be fine. Trust me!"
I blink, "What?"
