I salute. The Queens, Luna, and Celestia, salute back. I had just been accepted as a soldier into their army. I'm shocked, I never thought I'd make it. I'm not strong or serious enough. When I told my family I was accepted, they laughed. I laughed with them, because the idea was frankly ridiculous, and besides, I loved laughter.

Queen Luna speaks first, her voice low and gentle, "You have been accepted into the army, on one condition: you must do it only as part of the Guardians of Harmony. A group of special operatives. They have powers similar to you, but very, very different." Queen Luna's smile is apologetic. "I know it's not quite what you were hoping for."

Luna and Celestia were two of the elements of nature. Night and day. Moon and Sun. Them, Queen Cadence, and Dragon Lord Ember make up the Guardians of Nature. A group of allying rulers who fight for their element. Luna defends the night and dreams from nightmares and monsters. Celestia defends the day and handles many problems in that period. Cadence defends love. The ultimate matchmaker. And Dragon Lord Ember defends peace.

I hesitate. The Guardians of Harmony? Why guardians? Why does it sound so much like that group, the Guardians of Nature? And what did they mean by harmony? What the heck was that anyway?

Queen Celestia notices my expression. "Don't worry, your job is much needed, and all will be explained."

I nod, relieved. At least I wasn't just being entertained.

Luna pipes up, her voice very quiet like she was shy, but that was impossible. She was a queen! "You must go now, you have many friends to make. Your team is assembled."

I frown slightly. A team? I wasn't sure I wanted to make friends who may just end up dying.
