Thalia contemplates following her father's example.

"I'm going to kill him," Thalia said in greek, body trembling in anger.

"He's immortal." Annabeth reminded her.

"I will figure something out." The huntress promised. "Somehow."

Annabeth rolled her eyes and spoke to the class in English. "Hello class, I'm Annabeth, second in command of the Kidemonas. This is Thalia, a friend from the Kynigoi troupe and Percy's cousin. Welcome to..." She paused and turned to Thalia. "Did Percy and the Headmaster ever come up with an official class title?"

Thalia shrugged.

"Nevermind." Annabeth looked out at the fifth year students, their first class of the day.

Hermione was in this group, along with the main protagonist Harry and his rival, Malfoy, who reminded her of Ares with his stuck up attitude.

Annabeth estimated that this would be Thalia's only class.

"Now, I'm usually all for a planned lesson but it's been a long time since I spoke with a wizard who knew what I was so how about instead of a lecture you ask us some questions and we give answers. Go ahead and sit down."

Hermione looked both scandalized and intrigued. Definitely alternate universe daughter of Athena material.

They were having their class outside, about fifty yards from the lakeshore, under some trees that looked like they had been climbed and leaned against many times before.

Thalia took the suggestion to sit a bit farther than the students, swinging herself into the tree with ease, pulling an apple from her pocket and cutting off the skin with a knife.

The wizards took a moment but eventually sat down, some pulling off their outer robes and using them as blankets, each staying with their houses.

Hermione was one of the first to raise her hand. "Do the colors of your cloaks mean anything or is it a personal choice?"

"Our colors are a symbol of the troop we are in. The Kidemonas wear green, and Kynigoi wears silver. The colors were chosen by our leaders."

"Are there any other groups?" A Hufflepuff boy asked.

Annabeth nodded. "There are many troupes across the world. The Kidemonas are allied with five and have friendly relations with many more. Perhaps you've even met some of them without realizing it. It's beyond rare for us to reveal ourselves in groups."

"Why did you then?" A Gryffindor asked. "Reveal yourselves? Does it have to do with the rumors?"

"A long time ago we fae lived side by side with mortals, helping each other out. Percy is hoping that by our kind interacting with the future of magical society, this bond may be established. If this year doesn't end on a good note, we will simply vanish again and try again in another thousand years."

"How old are you?" A Hufflepuff blurted out, looking embarrassed a moment after.

Annabeth laughed. "That's a bit trickier for me to answer than Thalia because of my troupe. Fae age depending on which troupe they join as each leader has their own abilities. Percy can manipulate time, makes it run faster or slower depending on his emotions. The muggle saying 'Time flys when your having fun' is quite literal when it comes to him. If I had not joined his troupe I would be older than your grandmothers, but since I did I'm old enough to have gone to school with Dumbledore."

There were some gasps of surprise. "How old are you, Professor Thalia?" A Hufflepuff asked.

"About a hundred. I stopped counting after I turned forty." Thalia replied, not looking away from her apple carving. "But there are some in my troupe who are over a thousand. My lady began Kynigoi around-" She stopped, apparently failing to fight off her dramatic nature. "Hey, kid what year is it?" She pointed her knife at Malfoy.

"1995." He said, eyes on the knife.

"2800 years ago." Thalia finished.

"Kynigoi is the oldest troupe through." Annabeth reminded her. "Although there are fae who are older than that. We can pretty much live forever as long as we don't get sick or mortally wounded so don't trust your eyes when it comes to physical age. I know for a fact that Jazz is older than Sora but looks five mortal year's younger."

More awestruck looks and whispers all around.

"You were speaking another language earlier." A Ravenclaw said. "It was Greek, right?"

Annabeth nodded. "We all know a few languages but Greece is where three troupes originated so we speak our first language."

"My troupe prefers to speak in the old tongue on principal," Thalia added, having finished her apple.

"Some troupes speak Latin, or Old Norse, or even ancient Egyptian," Annabeth explained. "The fae live a long time. We don't like to forget our roots and what better to remember them, then by speaking the language of your childhood."

Another hand raised. Another Ravenclaw. "You said Percy is your cousin earlier. Are you born into a troupe or do you join?"

"A mix of both," Annabeth said after a quick silent conversation with Thalia.
"The troupes that have settled and claim territory have fae born into them, although sometimes the fae grows up thinking they are human and don't find out until later. Both Thalia and I joined our current troupes by invitation but most others it's something that happens to you. A lot of fae have children with humans. It influences our abilities later in life. We can usually tell by the time they turn twelve, however, and they are brought to a non-traveling troupe or even escorted by a traveling one."

"Can we ask which one happened to you?" A Hufflepuff asked. They looked a bit shy.

Annabeth smiled. "I was escorted to a troupe, stayed there for over a decade before joining the Kidemonas."

Everyone turned to Thalia expectantly.

"I stayed at the same place as Annabeth for a few years before joining the Kynigoi." She said.

"Any other questions?" Annabeth asked.

"Yes." A Ravenclaw said. "How does fae magic differ from wizarding magic?"

"Fae all have some basic talents and then specialized talents influenced by our heritage." Annabeth explained. "My siblings and I are revered as stratagist, technicians, engineers and inventors. That is our talent."

"Have you ever made anything cool?" A Gryffindor asked.

"Annabeth is the head architect of the cities of two major settled troupes." Thalia said. "I for one, think both are a hell of a lot better."

"Thanks Thalia." Annabeth said. If she was being sarcastic it was too well hidden for even the slyhtherins to pick up on.  "Thalia on the other hand, is a bit flashier when it comes to her talents. If she's willing perhaps a demonstration after class."

"Whatever." Thalia says nonchalantly.

"What can all fae do?" A ravenclaw asked. It seems the house of the wise had taken over the questioning session and the other houses were willing to let them. They were also, with the exception of Hermione Granger, the only ones taking notes.

"We all can create illusions and warp perceptions. All of us do it subconsciously but most can do it purposefully as well. All fae can, as a rule, see through this ability unless the caster is extraordinarily strong. We call this overall effect, The Mist. It is even effective on wizards.

"Can we see an example?" A, you guessed it, Ravenclaw asked.

Thalia grinned and snapped her fingers. The Mist wrapped around her form, leaving Minerva Mcgonagal in place of the lightning huntress. Mcgonagall grinned, and did a backflip.

"We can also use the Mist to hide locations. A city entrance turns to maintamence tunnel that rusted shut," Annabeth said as Thalia returned to normal.

"An Elevator with an impossible floor." Thalia added.

"A strawberry field that doesn't have workers."

"A lake that may not have been their before."

"A forest glade that doesn't show up on a map."

Both girls laughed, having a bit of fun with the wizards.

"Seems pretty useless." A voice said.

Thalia turned, her eyes glittering with delight. A victim had made themselves known.

"Pardon." Thalia said, her voice dripping with honey as she turned to face the bleached blond wizard.

Draco Malfoy quailed at the gleam in Thalia's eyes, the same terror and helplessness that he hadn't experienced since Porfessor Moody turned him into a ferret crashing over him in a wave.

But he was a Malfoy. And Malfoy's were above such things as fear, and most of all, above sub human creatures like this fae.

"This Mist seems pretty useless. You could just use polyjuice to look like someone else and muggle repelling charms to keep people away. Your magic is just a diluted form of ours."

Thalia grinned, sickinly sweet. "Tell me, little boy, can you do any of those things without your little stick?"

Annabeth gestured for the others to back up, whispering that they were about to get their demonstration.

"Tell me, can a single wizard create a barrier that not only convinces mortals not only do they have other things to do, that there isn't even anything to see?"

"Well, not a single wizard."

"Tell me little boy, " Thalia whispered. "Can your magic control the skies?"

Thalia raised a hand and the skies rumbled. Clouds formed, growing dark with rain. Lightning flickered, and struck downwards.

It hit Thalia's hand, swirling around her, her eyes glowing with power. She smiled, and pointed back at the clouds, returning the lightning to the skies.

The clouds dispersed and when the huntress saw Malfoy's terrified expression, Thalia laughed. "How about you wait until you know more before judging the usefulness of something. This applies to both magic, and people. Let this be a lesson."

She patted him on the cheek and turned away just as he fell backwards, scrambling away from her as she swung herself back into her tree, another apple appearing from nowhere, knife in hand.

"That was brilliant." A redhead Gryffindor declared, breaking the stunned silence.

The clapping started, slowly at first and grew steadily louder. No wizard, not even Dumbledore could control lightning, much less wandlessly.

(This was the point in the chapter where I looked down, saw 1776 and spent the next hour singing Hamilton.)

"Now that Thalia is done showing off, let's continue with base powers." Annabeth said. "Faster, Stronger, higher Stamina, unless any wizards you know can run four hundred miles in an hour."

"We can shapeshift too." Thalia added.

Annabeth grabbed the edge of her cloak and spun, transforming into a snowy owl, before spinning into a horned owl, and returning to human.

"I like owl, so that's what I usually turn into." She explained. "Most fae can transform into multiple animals and even some magical one's. Thalia can become a unicorn and thunderbird, and Leo can turn into a Phoenix. Clarrisse can become a drakon which is terrifying."

They laughed again, answering a few more questions on camp life before Annabeth glanced behind the class and grinned. "We also have animals that are both our friends and partners. Everyone in the Kidemonas has a Pegasus to call partner. When we can, we prefer to travel in the skies, easier to travel without difficu-"

She was cut off by the sound of war horns, drawing her own and carrying the sound.

"Class dismissed. Inside! Now!" Thalia yelled, drawing her now.

The horns started up on Guardian island, a few, more prepared, Guardians racing by on Pegasi.

The students, spurred on by Thalia's suddenly fierce demenor, ran for the gates, abandoning their supplies, well aware the only reason the fae would chase them off was if something had breeches the wards.

"Thalia! Guard the students!" Annabeth yelled, before whistling loudly.

A brown and white streak decended from the sky, Annabeth grabbing Prokpie's mane and pulling herself up before the pegasus had even touched the ground.

More pegasus and over a dozen Guardians on foot raced over the water, the foot brigade separating into pairs before spreading a cross the grounds, grabbing students and bringing them inside.

A column of flame rose a mile into the forbidden forest, making the students gasp and falter.

Thalia threw Pansy Parkinson over her shoulder. "Move it." A wave of her hand and a gust of powerful wind blew a door open and the wizards we're shoved inside, pansy being tossed to Blaise Zambini.

The last thing Hermione saw before the door closed was the hurricane that had formed over the forest.
