Chapter 6: Meeting with Aunt Lily
In the evening, Johanne decided to visit her aunt Lily, whom she had missed very much (unlike Lucy who was only a cousin to her mother Linda, Lily was Linda's very sister, and had visited Johanne many times when she was still a little child).
Lucy decided to accompany Johanne on the journey. So, they both set out to Lily's RV in Temple City, the capital of East Land. Mei stayed in Huli Palace because if ever a need arose, Johanne could easily summon her with her Yin-and-Yang locket.
"So, Auntie Lucy, you and Lily defeated rabbit spirits together five years ago, huh?" Johanne asked, remembering Lucy's and Mei's tales from yesterday evening.
"Hehe, yes..." Lucy smiled. "But, of course, Yuehong and many other strong spirits helped too, as well as Lily's friends from the underworld."
"So, Lily's as powerful as you?" Johanne brightened - she had such cool aunts!
"Oh, I'd rather say she's more powerful than me." Lucy blushed. "After all, Demoness Lilith's strength cannot be equalled by a mere celestial spirit. She is the queen of the whole underworld."
"But you're the queen of all spirits!" Johanne argued.
"Hehe, that's just formally..." Lucy swung her hand. "In truth, even Mei, my own daughter, exceeds me in strength."
"But doesn't Lilith's soul son exceed her in strength too?" Johanne raised an eyebrow.
Lucy got startled:
"How do you know about Lilith's soul son?"
"I've read books in my dad's library back in West Land, and... Yesterday, he actually appeared in my dream and told me he was my guardian, and that this skeleton bracelet was a Bond Item of his, and his father had gifted it to me at the time of my birth when they found out my angel had betrayed me." Johanne touched the skeleton bracelet she wore on her wrist.
"He has already appeared?! But it wasn't the time yet!" Lucy frowned.
"Huh? W... Why?" Johanne blinked - why shouldn't he have appeared? There was nothing wrong with it, was there?
"Because... Ugh, it's so complicated!" Lucy clenched her fist, "We must get to Lily quickly. I need to tell her everything."
"But what's so wrong?"
Johanne still couldn't understand. However, Lucy didn't go into details. She just grabbed her hand and hastened her pace. Soon, they arrived at a big black blazing RV on the road. Lucy knocked on its door. It opened, and Lily - a thirty-year-old barefooted young woman with brown hair and brown eyes - dashed out of there and embraced both Lucy and the little Johanne.
"Ah, Johanne, Lucy, you came! I've missed you girls so much! Especially you, tiny!" She squeezed Johanne, "I haven't seen you in ages!"
"Hehe, Auntie Lily!" Johanne hugged her back, "I've missed you too!"
After the warm greetings, Lily invited the girls in and closed the door behind.
"Wow..." Johanne was amazed at the luxury of her aunt's RV - the comfortable couches, sofas, and armchairs, newest technology, and ravishing kitchen and bathroom. "Damn, auntie, this is a blast of an RV!"
Lily chuckled:
"Haha! Thanks, dear. I'm glad you like it. Make yourselves at home!"
"Thank you, Lily." Lucy beamed.
The girls took seats on the sofa, and Lily began preparing coffee.
"So, how was your journey here to the East Land, Johanne?" Lily asked.
"It was fine, auntie, thanks!" Johanne grinned, "Big Sis Mei accompanied me."
"Oh, that's wonderful!"
"Yuehong has already given her the locket, and Mei's her new guardian spirit," Lucy added.
"Marvelous news!" Lily brought hot coffee cups for them, one more for herself, and sat near them at the table. She smiled at her niece: "I'm so glad you'll learn the Eastern Crafts of spirit bonding!"
"Hehe, I'm hyped for that too!"
As they sipped their coffee and wanted to renew the talk, Lucy informed her cousin:
"Lily, Johanne told me today that Prince Baku appeared in her dream yesterday and told her about the bracelet. What happened?"
Lily gasped:
"Ah, now that's totally unexpected! Sammy didn't tell me anything about this."
"Huh? Who's Sammy?" Johanne blinked, and then gasped: "You don't mean Samael?"
"Yes." Lily smiled, reminded of her husband. "But more importantly, did Incubus really appear in your dream, Johanne?"
"Um, yes." Johanne shrugged, "Why are you so concerned?"
"Ugh, that child..." Lily puckered and clenched her fist.
"He also said he'd be here today if I came," Johanne added, remembering the demon boy's words.
"Eh?!" Lucy exclaimed - he even dared appear here before them after his disobedience?!
"Good, then..." Lily posed her coffee cup on the table. "He's going to get it."
"Huh? W... Why?" Johanne blinked - what was so wrong with that boy appearing in her dream? He didn't do anything bad, after all.
Before they would proceed with the conversation, the familiar black smoke which had earlier appeared in Johanne's dream, burst up right in front of them.
"Ah!"
Johanne clung to Lucy's arm. Lucy and Lily, on their part, remained calm and strict. After the black smoke aerated, the familiar young man with long raven black hair and deep brown eyes appeared, grinning with his small demonic fangs, his hand placed on his black-handled sword.
"Long time no see, mother!" He smiled at Lily, then bowed to Lucy and winked at Johanne: "I've appeared, as I promised."
"Aww, such a nice boy you are!" Lily chuckled. She leapt up, grabbed a broom nearby and hit him hard, "This is for your disobedience!"
"Ah!" Incubus exclaimed in pain and rubbed his head, "Ugh, mother, not again! I thought you were over with those broom hits!"
He remembered his first encounter with his reincarnated mother fifteen years ago when she was still a young child and got dead scared upon first beholding the demon of nightmares. That time seemed so far away now, and yet, this woman hadn't changed at all.
"When you will be over with sneaking around, you will receive no more of them! Why did you sneak into Johanne's dream yesterday? It was not yet the time! Do you want me to tell your father about this?"
Lily's eyes shimmered with strictness, making Incubus gulp in fear.
"No! I... I can explain!"
Johanne watched the demon boy and her aunt in a stupor:
They say Incubus is the strongest demon of all, and yet, he's afraid of my aunt when she holds nothing but a broom. Auntie Lily is really awesome...
She indeed had one hell of a family.
