Epilogue
Epilogue
Four years have passed since the fight and me turning into a hybrid. Turning into a hybrid not only increased the power of my senses but it also made me realise that I had a family.
My family not only included people that had the same blood as me, but all the people that lived in the fort.
Everybody protected each other in the fortress; everybody would give up their lives to protect another person from the fort.
For the twenty-two years I had lived, I have made lots of enemies but I had also made long lasting friendships and have learned the true meaning of family.
Esme and I were still best friends even though we didn't see each other every single day. After the fight, both Esme and I realised that we had to carry on with our lives, but that didn't mean we still couldn't be friends.
It took us time to catch up on what we both had done for the past year. Esme now being the second guard of the werewolves meant she was always busy and traveled a lot.
A smile came onto my face looking at all the grinning and laughing faces in front of me. Everybody in the Fort felt safe again, thanks to my brothers and Ace.
All the pain I had to go through to become a hybrid made me realise that pain always comes before happiness. Finally, I did find happiness with Ace and my now one-year-old son, Tyson.
Four years ago I would have laughed at the idea of flying cars but now I had come to terms that everything was possible, no matter how unreal it sounds.
"Arielle?" I snapped out of my daydream and turned towards my husband's voice.
"Where is Tyson?" I asked with concern. Ace walked over to me and grabbed me by the waist, pulling me hard against his chest.
"Grayson took him to the hall so that everybody could see him." He played with the loose strands of my hair that was in a bun.
"Shouldn't we be with Tyson?" I asked worriedly.
For the past few weeks, I had been busy planning Tyson's one-year birthday party. It was a very stressful job when the most important of the supernatural people in the world were invited on the same day.
I didn't know how things are going to turn out. Ace had offered to hire birthday planners to plan the whole event out but I wanted to do this myself. I now wish I had complied with Ace. A few weeks ago all I wanted to do was to organise Tyson's birthday but now all I wanted to rest.
"We must go but we can go after a few minutes." This time Ace's voice came out husky and gave me unwanted shiver through my body, but it was in a good way.
"What do you have planned?" I stared at Ace's mischievous face, curious to find out what he was hiding.
"It is a surprise, come on. Don't worry about the party, I have it all sorted out." He added when he saw the worried look back onto my face.
Ace's surprise was a bunch of kisses and a picture frame of the size of the wall, with pictures of our whole relationship. I stared at pictures in wonder and I couldn't help but let out a smile.
I walked alongside the picture frame that started from one end of the room to the other. The picture frame is red and black, my two favourite colours.
From when Ace kidnapped me and took me to the middle of the forest to the day my son, Tyson was born.
"You took a picture of me while I was sleeping?" I asked in horror.
"Yes, at that time. The picture was the only thing of you I had when you were gone for the ten months, living with those witches." Ace's voice came out hard by the end of the sentence. I leaned forward and pecked his lips, telling him to calm down and forget about it, because I had.
"Thank you, this is beautiful." I gasped out as I touched the pictures gently, afraid I might break it with my fingers.
"I wanted to do a surprise. I knew how hard you worked for this birthday party. Come on we have guests to greet." With a tug on my hand, we left our room which now had the big pictured from in it.
As soon as we entered the hall we are greeted with the loud noise of chatter and laughter. Both Ace and I looked around for Tyson and when we finally saw him with Grayson we walked toward him hand in hand.
"There you two are! I thought you two had left me with this little guy." Tyson let out a loud giggle as if understanding what Grayson had said.
I laughed too, not because of the joke Grayson said but because of Tyson's face that was now filled with wonder as he stared at all the balloons that are sticking to the ceiling due to the helium.
Ace took Tyson from Grayson and grabbed me by the waist and leads us towards the stage. On our way, we had to stop many times because people greet both Ace and I and greeted Tyson happy birthday. When we were almost by the stage my brothers stopped us.
"There you two are! We have been looking everywhere for you. Hi there, little guy, happy birthday!" Zavion said, leaning towards Tyson.
I smiled at their small exchange. Since the fight, I had grown much closer to both my brothers, they had become my protectors of some sort. Romulus taught both Zavion and I a lot about hybrids, while Zavion showed me all the fun things to do in the castle.
As both my brothers hadn't found their mates yet they never left me alone, especially when I was pregnant. When Tyson was born they instantly fell in love with him just like Ace and I had.
"Did you like your gift?" Romulus asked.
"You knew?" I gasped out loud when I realised that Romulus knew about the surprise.
"Of course I knew. I made Ace tell me what it was." I chuckled and nodded my head at my brother's tactics.
"We should get going, everybody is here and waiting to see this little guy," Ace said, lifting Tyson slightly.
"Of course, we don't want to keep everybody waiting. Go ahead and enjoy this evening, I will see the both of you afterwards." Romulus said, taking a sip of his wine.
Once again we were on our journey to the stage, but this time we got there quicker as most of the people now realised that we are going to make an announcement. We climbed up the stairs and walked towards the middle of the stage. Slowly everybody started to quieten down when they saw us waiting for silence.
I stared at Tyson in happiness. Tyson had taken his father's face, especially his eyes. Tyson looked just like his father did when he was one year old. Tyson had my new hybrid hair- brown with slight red streaks.
When I found I was pregnant, I was the happiest women in the world. Many people are afraid of telling their husband, but I was delighted. I knew that nothing would make Ace happier than knowing he was going to be a father.
I shifted my gaze to Ace who was also staring at me with the same expression- love. I stared at my husband, my soulmate. There was no marriage needed in the supernatural tradition. When you met your soulmate, it was like a marriage for them, but because I was brought up in a human tradition, marriage had always been on my mind and Ace knew that.
Three years ago, on this day, he proposed to me by the waterfall where we were having dinner. Ace had kneeled down before me and described me as if I was the most important person in the world. He reminded me of all the memories we shared together.
He reminded me of how much he loved me and how he would protect me with his life. That evening was filled with laughter and crying on my part. That was my third best day of my life so far. My first was when Tyson was born.
My second was my wedding day to which the whole of the kingdom had been invited to. I remember walking down the aisle, my dress hugging me tightly. I remembered the nervous feeling I felt when I walked down the long aisle.
The best part of the day was when we both said I do. I could never forget that moment. Ace and I had our down moments like every couple in the world, but we don't like to think about those moments because they make you feel bad for something that has already been solved.
As Ace told everybody in the hall about Tyson and brings him up to show everybody how he looks like, I cannot help but think that this all wouldn't have happened if Ace hadn't kidnapped me.
If he hadn't taken me against my will I probably wouldn't be here with the strength and love I have got. I was thankful to whoever chooses mates. Ace is not only my mate but he was the love of my life and father of my child. He was my guard.
