'day two' ♡
Olivia's snapchat story
-
Dylan's POV
It was 8:30am when I woke up. Light was shining through my open curtains. I must have forgotten to close them last night. The first person I thought of when I woke was Cassidy. This trip has been great but I wish I had gotten more alone time with Cass. I couldn't stop thinking about the kiss we shared on Friday. I longed to feel the warmth of her lips again...
"Dylan?" Willow's voice snapped me out of my daze. There was a soft knock at my door.
"Are you in there?"
"Yep! Hold on." I replied as I quickly chucked on a jacket. I opened the door and I was immediately greeted with warm air, coming from the direction of the fire place.
"Mrs Moore made pancakes!" Willow said excitedly as we both walked to the kitchen.
"Can you eat pancakes yet Willow?" Kaitlyn said. Everyone was already sitting down, helping themselves to breakfast.
"In a couple of days I'll be able to." Willow sighed.
"Right now, I'm not supposed to have any sugar because my stomach can't handle it yet." She shrugged.
"It looks so good." Willow groaned as she sat down at the table.
"Aren't you having any?" I whispered to Kaitlyn as I sat down next to her.
"No, I don't have carbs or sugar in the morning." She replied curtly.
"So, how about we leave at 2pm? That will still give us time to go skiing again." Cassidy said as she popped a piece of pancake into her mouth.
"Sounds good." I answered.
"Hello everyone." A deep male voice sounded from
behind me. I turned around and saw a tall figure. He had brown hair with streaks of grey and he looked so much like Cass.
"Hi dad." Cassidy smiled.
"Don't tell me you drove the Kombi Van down." Cassidy's dad said as he sat down beside me.
I felt a bit scared because he looked really disapproving. How would he react when he found out I was Cassidy's boyfriend?
"Okay, I won't." Cassidy laughed.
"I've told you before Cassidy, that van is not good for the snow. Who brings a kombi van to the snow?" Her dad's tone was harsh yet he still laughed afterwards. His laugh was deep and throaty. It was almost a bark rather than a laugh.
"You'll have to clear the driveway of snow before you leave." He added. His tone had gone back to serious.
—
It was later that day at 2pm and we were just about to leave. We spent most of the day skiing on the top of the mountain. I still was not very good at skiing even after Cassidy's countless attempts to show me how it's done.
We were now all in the van and Taylor was shovelling the last few piles of snow out of the driveway. I was in the seat up the front near the driver and everyone else was in the back. Taylor was driving for the first hour. Once he had finished with the snow, he quickly got into the drivers seat and put the keys in the ignition. The car came to life as Taylor put his foot on the accelerator.
I wish we could stay here longer.
—
We had been driving for an hour now and it was time to switch drivers. Taylor pulled over at the public toilets we had stopped off yesterday. This time, everyone needed to go to the toilet so one by one, we all got out of the van.
Public toilets were always pretty gross but these ones were horrible.
I was the first one that was done and when I got outside, I tried to open the van, but it was shut. Taylor must of locked it.
Everyone else came out quickly. Everyone but Taylor. He took his sweet time in the bathroom.
"Why did he lock the van? It's not like anyone is around." I huffed.
We were a while away from the mountain now, so there was no snow but it was still pretty cold just standing out in the open.
Finally Taylor walked out.
"Aw, that's sweet! You were all waiting for me!" He smiled sarcastically.
"Just open the car. It's cold." Kaitlyn said bitterly while she rubbed her arms in an attempt to stay warm.
"You do realise you could of opened it yourselves?" Taylor laughed as he strolled over to the van.
"No we can't. You've got the keys." Olivia stated.
"I left it open!" Taylor said as he pulled on the door handle of the van. When the door didn't budge, he turned around and looked at us guiltily.
"What did you do?" Cassidy asked accusingly. Her eyes looked like they were going to bulge out of her head.
"I may of – locked the keys in the car." Taylor said quietly.
"You've got to be kidding me." Cassidy groaned as she pulled out her phone.
"And I've got no signal. Great." She threw her arms up in annoyance.
"Everyone check if you've got reception." Willow said and we all followed her directions.
"I haven't." I shrugged.
"Me neither."
"No reception here."
"Nope."
"What are we going to do?!" Cassidy asked angrily.
"No ones got reception and we have no idea where we are!"
"We could always smash a window..." Sawyer mumbled.
Cassidy looked furious.
"No one is smashing any windows of my van." She fumed. I placed my hand gently on her shoulder.
"Don't worry Cass, we'll work something out." I whispered.
Her tense shoulders relaxed and she turned around and gave me a light smile.
"You're right. Sorry I lost my shit." She sighed.
"Sawyer! Why are you smoking?" Kaitlyn gasped.
I turned away from Cassidy to find Sawyer lighting a cigarette.
"You told me you quit!" Taylor said as he pushed Sawyer in the shoulder.
"I have! It's just a nervous habit." Sawyer muttered as he put the cigarette in between his lips.
"I can try to jam the door open?" Cameron offered.
"Okay but be careful." Cassidy said hesitantly.
"There was a door stopper in the bathroom you can use." Sawyer said. He was already surrounded by tobacco smoke.
"I can't believe you smoke. When we get back into that car, I'm making you quit for good." Willow huffed as she folded her arms.
Olivia went to fetch the wooden door stopper and she came back and handed it to Cameron.
"Here goes nothing." Cameron muttered under his breath as he pushed the door stopper into the crack of the van's door. He tapped it in multiple times until the door stopper was fully jammed in the crack. Cameron then tried to wedge the door open.
It made a horrible squeaking noise and I'm pretty sure I saw Cassidy visibly cringe. She definitely did not want anything to happen to her van.
"It's no use. The door isn't budging." Cameron sighed as he tried to tug the door stopper free.
"And we've got more bad news. Uh – the door stopper is stuck." He stated with a shaky laugh.
At least someone was not taking this situation so seriously.
Cameron slumped against the exterior of the van and slid down into a sitting position.
"We could always smash the window." Sawyer laughed and had another puff of his cigarette.
"How about we just wait and see if someone can come and help?" Kaitlyn suggested.
"Not even one car has come past in the last 10 minutes." Willow retorted as she sat beside Cameron.
"I could go look for some help?" I proposed.
"What would they be able to do though?" Taylor said curtly.
"They'd be better help than you." Kaitlyn spat.
"You're the one that locked the keys inside anyway." Cassidy said with a roll of her eyes.
"How was I supposed to know the car self locks?!" Taylor argued.
"Guys, calm down." I groaned.
"Now – who wants to come look for help with me?"
Cameron raised his hand.
"I'll help you Dylan." He offered generously.
"WAIT!" Cassidy squealed as she jumped up in excitement.
"What?" We all said at once.
"How about we try the sun roof?" She suggested with a smile. Clearly she was happy she had thought of such a thing.
"Won't that be locked too?" Taylor said.
"Do Kombi Vans even have sun roofs?" I wondered aloud.
"Who cares! We can try it." Willow laughed as she got up from her position. Everyone seemed to be excited by this new form of hope.
I hoisted Cassidy up so she could attempt to slide the sun roof open. She gripped onto the glass and shoved it sidewards. The sun roof slid open with ease. It had actually worked! I gave Cass an extra push so she ended up diving head first into the van.
Cassidy still didn't waste any time. She immediately scrambled into the front seat and unlocked the doors. The door stopper dropped to the ground.
"I'm going to take this – as a keepsake." Cameron smiled and shoved the old door stopper into his pocket.
