Cassidy's snapchat story

Cassidy's POV

"Guys I'm so excited!" I said happily as all eight of us piled into my kombi van.

"This is going to be amazing." Kaitlyn squealed as she took the seat next to me. We already decided that Cameron would drive for the first hour, and I would be driving for the second hour since this was a two hour trip. It was now 6am and the sun was just rising over the horizon.

"Why did we have to get up so early?" Taylor groaned as he sat in the seat opposite me. I took a pillow from my seat and threw it in his face with a laugh. He immediately threw it straight back at me.

"Don't do that. It's too early." He smirked.

"Dibs on the aux cord first." Dylan said as he sat beside Taylor.

"Dibs? How old are you, five?" I scoffed and Dylan rolled his eyes. Olivia sat up the front with Cameron while Sawyer, Kaitlyn, Willow, Cassidy, Taylor and I sat at the back.

"Hey Liv, how long have we been driving for?" I shouted to the front seat, since there was so much noise coming from the back seat.

"Almost an hour." She replied. She had been so quiet this whole trip. I feel like maybe we had scared her a little bit because of how noisy we were.

"Guys shut up for a second." I said as I leaned further towards the front of the van. Willow and Kaitlyn obeyed me but the boys continued to talk.

"Cameron, take the next exit and I'll take over driving." I shouted as I leaned both my hands on either side of the van to keep myself balanced. My actions proved futile however because as Cameron turned the van, I jolted forwards and landed on Sawyer's lap.

"Whoa." He muttered and helped me return to my seat. Everyone laughed and I even saw Olivia smile. The van pulled over next to a public rest room and Cameron and I switched seats so I was sitting next to Olivia in the driving seat. I was actually happy because now I had a whole hour to get to know Olivia and to help her feel welcome. Hopefully, she wasn't too awkward.

After a quick toilet break we were back on the road.

"So Olivia, do we have any classes together? I've never seen you before." I said, attempting to start conversation.

"Yeah we have French, English and PE together." She answered quietly while looking out the window.

"Oh." I mumbled. That's weird that I've never noticed her before. I guess she was just really quiet while I was the complete opposite. It was silent for a few minutes while I paid attention to my driving. I felt too uncomfortable sitting in silence with Olivia while the backseat was filled with noise so I tried to start up another conversation.

"Do you have anything planned for the holidays?"

"Yeah." She responded concisely.

Is she going to tell me what her plans are?

I waited for a while and anticipated her to elaborate on details but she didn't say a word. This was super uncomfortable.

"Uh - What are your plans?" I said.

"I'm going away with my parents." She replied.

"Oh cool! Where are you going?" I asked, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible in an attempt to sound friendly.

"We're going skiing actually. At the very place we're going this weekend." Olivia said.

"Have you been there before?" I asked again. I was happy that the conversation was kicking off.

"Yeah! My parents have been taking me there ever since I was a kid." She smiled. Thankfully, the awkward tension was starting to clear.

"Same! Our family loves that place." I said.

For the rest of the car trip, Olivia and I didn't stop talking.

"We're here!" Willow announced.

I parked the car in the garage and hopped out. We all trudged through the snow to the front door.

Cameron slowly turned around and looked at his surroundings.

"This place is fantastic!" He exclaimed.

"It's pretty great, isn't it?" I laughed.

"Now –" I paused to face everyone.
"Who wants to go skiing?!"
Everyone cheered and happily agreed.

After a long day of skiing we all finally returned to the house. Willow came along but didn't ski because she was still a bit weak. I was a pretty experienced skier because I had been skiing for most of my life. The others were okay but Olivia was amazing! As soon as we got back home, I crashed onto the sofa and went through my social media. I knew there would be new updates from my friends.

Olivia's POV

I was so happy and I couldn't stop smiling. Today had been one of the best days of my life. For once, I actually had friends! And they were so much nicer than I though they would be. I still didn't really know Taylor and Sawyer that much but I had gotten to know everyone else so well. In the car, I wasn't really social and I was a bit awkward when I talked to Cassidy but as the day progressed I started to feel more and more comfortable around everyone.

Skiing was my absolute favourite thing to do and I had gotten good at it over the years.

When we came back to the cabin, it was 5:00pm. Cassidy came in and sat down on one of the couches and everyone else followed her lead. We all checked our phones and talked for a bit. I couldn't believe I was on Kaitlyn and Cameron's snapchat stories. It all felt unreal and I couldn't believe how my life had changed so dramatically in the past few days.

After a while, Cassidy jumped up onto her feet.

"I just had a cool idea. Follow me." She stated and started climbing the stairs. Cameron looked at me and shrugged before he got up and followed Cassidy. Soon enough, we were all climbing the stairs.

Cassidy didn't even say a word, she just lead us through different hallways until we reached a wooden ladder. She looked at us all and gave us a cheeky smile and then climbed her way up. I followed after her. Nothing could of prepared me for what waited up the top.

Cameron's pov

It was beautiful. Breathtaking. Magestic.
No words could describe the view from the roof.

We had all just climbed up the top of a ladder and now we were sitting on the roof. None of us had changed from our snow gear so it wasn't too cold. The sun had just begun to set and the sky was lit up with shades of pink, orange and purple.

The best thing was that we all just sat in silence and took in the view. Today had been great. I had so much fun. The people I was surrounded by right now had made it so enjoyable. They were all unique, interesting and fun in their own ways. Olivia was sitting next to me and we both looked at each other at the same time and smiled. I put my gloved hand in hers and gave her hand a squeeze.

"If you don't mind, I'm going to take a photo." Sawyer declared and positioned himself for the perfect photo.

"Here goes the photographer." Taylor laughed as he scooted out of the way to make room for Sawyer.

It was kind of weird, it felt like we stayed on that roof for half an hour, when in reality it had been two hours. By the time we got back into the house, it was dark outside. After that, we talked for a while longer before Cassidy showed us to our rooms.
