Changed Times

The sirens droned on as the many people tried to evacuate. A small family of four stayed together as the bombs were released. A small boy of the age 16 remained coiled to his mothers chest, the sight scared him. He couldn't speak nor could he hear . His mother, a stout woman with a loving face held up her hand and began to sign.

'It's okay, just stare at the lamp'

She signed to him as the thumping of her heart soothed him. Robin nodded and tried to ignore the harsh lights that were flashing. It was then that his sister ran into the room and warned that the soldiers were on their way to this house. This caused panic as their mother jumped up and pushed them into the cupboard before covering it and running out of the room.

Robin looked at his sister and she signed to him softly.

'we have to be quiet .. Mama said- sh!,

The two teens went quiet as they looked at the men walking into the room . They carried guns and rope with them, why would they need that? Where was mother? What had became of her? All was tense as he watched the men walk before the closet. Robin felt his heart wishing to explode but then just as fast as they came, they'd left. His foot hit against something and it contacted with a loud bang causing the two men to run back in and open the closet .

Both men spoke in German so the two children had no idea what they said but their worlds collapsed when they were dragged from each other's arms. His sister screamed and screamed as she was taken away and he was left feeling like his mind had blown up. Before his sister was gone, she signed one more thing.

'Never give up hope!'

With that, she was gone and Robin felt his stomach go numb with pain and with grief. As the man dragged him from his house, he saw his mother and his father. His father was defending his mother and then looked to Robin as he smiled one last time.

BANG

BANG

BANG

His father fell dead to the floor as did his mother. Robin screamed out in agony from the sight he'd had to behold and struggled as he ran over to his dead parents, their blood stained his body and the sight of it burned in his mind. A soldier hoisted him over his shoulder and laughed.

"Gotta learn, if you can't live smiling......don't live at all"

From the mans shoulder, he watched as his town got smaller and smaller until he couldn't see it . With a thud, he landed in a van full of others and looked for his sister desperately. But she wasn't there. It felt like hours had passed by as the image of a large house was spotted.

The Grind House.

Something about that name had filled him with the greatest dread of his life.

Little did he know, that he'd had every right to be scared.

---

Like cattle they'd been dragged into the room of the owner, he sat with hair white as the snow and a black eye patch on his left eye. He eyes everyone in the room and notions to the other guard, who brought in the second lot. Robin felt his heart explode . There was his big sister!

"The world you'd knew before....is gone. The only life that you have now, is with me."

Stated the man as he stood and paced about the boys and girls, eyeing them all up and down . Robin felt like wetting himself, this man made him feel so uneasy that it was not even realistic. Said man, stopped back at his desk.

"Inside this house, you will be cared for.. But do not think you will be safe. I tend myself in my property...which you are now. I will teach you to care for my friends....but do not think, that you can ask for help from them."

He said as he stared at everyone, the tears were rolling down half of the girls faces as the cruel man walks up to them and views their states. To Robin's horror, it was his sister that he pointed at . At this moment, the boy wished he'd been able to talk, able to yell STOP YOU BASTARD but he couldn't, all he could do was watch.

"It's okay...it's okay"

Slade said as he pulled the girl into his arms and hugged her shaking body, after a moment of stress, she calmed herself and looked up at him from his embrace. He looked down and smiled.

"You're safe here, trust in me."

He said as he turned her to face the others, she sighed in relief but then was stopped by the man snapping her neck and letting her fall to the ground dead. Her eyes stared up at Robin and he fell to his knees crying harshly at the loss of his sister and only friend that understood him. The man walked over and kicked her body out the way.

Robin stared up at him with tears echoing down his cheeks.

"In this house, their is no remorse...I didn't tell her, to move ."

He bent to the boy and smiled sinisterly

"All I ask for , is trust... And obedience."

After stating this, the man ordered them all to leave but since Robin was deaf, he couldn't hear . The other man was about to hurt him when the manager stopped him.

"No, leave him with me...I'd like to see to him, personally."
