The Training Begins
The ceiling of his room was the first thing that Y/N saw upon opening his eyes. He let out a yawn and rubbed his face with his hands once he felt how they watered up when he yawned. He will never understand why his eyes were watering up whenever he yawned. He pulled his duvet off of him and threw it to his right, causing it to collide with the wall next to him. He sat straight up on his bed and stretched, letting out another yawn.
"Look who decided to return to the land of living." A deep male voice with which Y/N was already familiar at this point sounded on his right. He titled his head in the direction of it and saw Grimoire Guthrum lifting himself up in the air from his chair, beginning to float, "How was your nap, lad, if I can even call it a nap. Feeling comfy?"
"Definitely comfy, Guthrum." Y/N nodded his head as he once again rubbed his face, "A few hours of good unbothered sleep on my bed was exactly what I needed after the last few days. I don't remember the last time when I felt so good after waking up from my sleep."
"I'm gladdened to see you well rested, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said, "Because as you remember, or at least I hope you do, today we're going to start your training in the arts of magic of my spells and I don't want my new user to be exhausted, before he will do anything during it."
"Yes. I remember about it, Guthrum. Don't worry." Y/N reassured the floating book as he rubbed his back with his right hand, "I doubt anyone would forget what happened in the last few days if they found themselves in the same situation as I did."
"Good." Grimoire Guthrum moved up and down and Y/N understood it as nodding, like he did yesterday, "I wasn't worried about you forgetting about your training starting today. I was simply making sure if there was a need of reminding it to you."
"Whatever you say, Guthrum." Y/N shrugged his shoulders to Guthrum's response, before getting up from his bed.
"When are we going to leave your house?" Grimoire Guthrum questioned, "I recommend that we should leave as soon as possible, because we have to a few things to take care of, before we'll begin your training."
Y/N placed his hand on his chin in thought. He and Guthrum could have leave his house after his was done with his morning routine, but there were a few things he had to do around the house, "Give me an hour or two and I'll be ready to move out. A day out in the town doesn't actually sound like a bad idea. I like to do it when I am after a tough day, and the last few days clearly classify as one."
"It's good that you are in the mood to leave the house, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said, pleased by it. At least he won't have to start this day off with a lecture about Y/N wanting to stay at home instead of going out and starting his training like they decided yesterday, "When are we going to leave your house? I advise you to do it as soon as possible, because we will have to visit a few places, before we will start your training."
Y/N put his hand on his chin in thought, trying to figure out how much time it would take him to get ready to head out. He and Guthrum could have leave his house after he'd be done with eating breakfast, but there were still a few things he had to take care of around the house, like the laundry, which mostly consisted of his school uniform.
He looked up at Guthrum as he made his choice, "Give me an hour, maybe two. It depends of how much time it will take me to take care of a few things around the house."
"Very well." Grimoire Guthrum responded, "But I would have preferred if you took care of our business around your household in an hour, instead of two, because as I have already mentioned, we have to take care of a few things in the city, like finding a suitable place for your training, before we will properly begin it."
"I'll keep your words in mind. I'll try to be as fast as I can at the moment." Y/N nodded his head, "At least today is Saturday and I don't have to worry about going to school. I don't have to worry about studying for the exams either, because, thankfully, I'm already done with them."
"Studying?" Grimoire Guthrum asked, a bit of curiosity in his voice, "Are you a scholar, lad?"
"It depends on how you see it." Y/N replied, "I always make sure to keep my grades good enough to not have any problems from school whenever I skip a day of school when I don't feel like going to it and have my parents something to praise me for whenever they visit the house which doesn't happen very often. I always make sure to come in the first 50 students of the school during the exams too."
"At least this counts as something." Grimoire Guthrum stated after hearing Y/N's explanation, "The last thing I need after such a long slumber is for my new user to be a lazy person who does nothing for most of the time."
"At least this counts as something?" Y/N repeated what Guthrum just said to him, not really sure how he should take it a compliment or something completely opposite, "Should I take that as a compliment?"
"You can see it however you wish." Grimoire Guthrum responded. A compliment from him was a rather rare happening, because it was something a person had to earn. He made sure to let his new user know about it, "Don't except to hear many of those from me, because compliments from me is something a person, no matter if it's my user, or someone else has to earn. Also, remember that this is based by what I just heard from you. I can change my opinion anytime I desire."
"I'll make sure you remember about it." Y/N reassured Guthrum, showing him that he understood what he just said to him. At least he will know if Guthrum's compliments were genuine. He turned away from Guthrum and was about to start walking towards the exit from his room, "I'm going to head out now to take a shower." He sniffed himself and cringed a bit at the smell, "Because I'm clearly in a need of one right now."
"Wait a second, lad. There's one more matter we need to take care of, before you will leave your room to shower yourself." Grimoire Guthrum's words made Y/N stop dead in his tracks. He was asleep for a long time and had no idea what people were doing in their free time nowadays, "What am I supposed to do when you'll be busy doing chores around your household?"
"I don't know. There's a TV in the living room." Y/N shrugged, as he couldn't believe that he was actually suggesting a talking magical book to watch some television in his house, "You can watch some television or watch something on the streaming services when I'll be busy if you want to."
"What is television or streaming services?" Grimoire Guthrum's tone showed confusion. The one Y/N didn't heard from the floating book until now, "I have never heard such terms before. What do they mean? Is this an item?"
Y/N looked at Guthrum in suprise. The floating book must have been asleep for long if he didn't knew what either of those things were, "I don't really know how to explain it you without showing it. I'll explain everything to you once I'll be done with the shower, Guthrum."
"Very well." Grimoire Guthrum said as he turned away from Y/N, now floating towards the exit from the boys room, "I'll be waiting for you in the living room of your household. Make sure to make it quick. We have many important matters to take care of today."
Y/N nodded his head as Guthrum floated out of his room, heading towards the living room. He went to the wardrobe and slid it open. He was immediately greeted by the view of all his clothes. He didn't pay much attention to what kind of clothes he pulled out of his wardrobe. He pulled out a simple green shirt with Loki's signature words "Burdened With Glorious Purpose" written on it, blue jeans and grey socks and swung them over his shoulder. He closed his wardrobe and turned around to look at his desk. He quickly saw his phone laying on top of it.
He hadn't checked his phone in time which felt like an eternity for him. He left it at his home on the day of the exams, not really seeing the need of taking him to school this day, because he wouldn't really have the need to use it that day. He tried to find it among the ruins of his house when he visited them, but he couldn't find it anywhere among the rubble. He now regretted not taking it with him, because it would give him the opportunity to him conctact someone after he got lost from his classmates, but on the other side, taking his phone wouldn't really change anything with him, because he doubted that he would had any signal.
He picked up his phone from his desk and unlocked it. He began browsing through the natifications which were waiting for him to check them for quite sometime now. It wasn't anything extraordinary. For example, his sister send him meme she came across when she was browsing the internet and found it funny, thinking that he might find it funny as well. There was one message to which he paid for attention than just a few seconds, though.
David Miller: I saw the channel you told me to check out a few days ago. The videos, especially the one showing Spy's perspective were quite unsettling and when Spy tried to run away from the player in the video before this was freeky af and caught me off guard. I definitely am interesting in seeing more :)
Y/N smiled and nodded his head to himself, knowing that David would enjoy the internet ARG that he recently stumbled upon when he was browsing Youtube out of boredom. David really enjoyed internet ARG's. His interest in this way of storytelling begun when he was twelve and watched Marble Hornets for the first time.
Y/N L/N: I knew you would like the content on this channel. I know you like series like this one on the internet.
It was the last natification which Y/N had to check, but he didn't put his phone in the pocket of his black shorts right away. He stared at the screen of his phone for one more moment as he could imagine David or Claire asking him what took him this long to answer to their messages. Y/N shook his head, not wanting to deal with it, now because right now he wanted to focus on starting his morning routine. He'll think of a believable excuse later.
He put his phone in the pocket of his black shorts and glanced at his right shoulder, mostly at the clothes he choose to wear, before glancing down at the drawers of his desk. He pulled the first one open and saw the thing he was looking for at this moment. His wallet. He will surely have to use it today, right? After all, Guthrum mentioned that they will have to visit a few places today.
He reached down for it and pulled it out of the drawer. He checked his wallet and let out a sigh of relief. All of his money was still in it. Even his card of regular customer of the local maid cafe was still in it. This place really had the best cake in the city, or at least they had the best cake in the city in his opinion. It was a matter of taste. This cake was the main reason why he was coming to spend his free time at this place so often which suprised many people for some reason whenever they found out about it.
He put his wallet in the other pocket of his black shorts and closed the drawer. He turned away from his desk and walked out of his room, leaving the door open as he didn't saw the reason in closing it. He made his way to the bathroom and entered it after opening the door, making sure to lock the door behind him, not wanting Guthrum to float into the bathroom when he'll be having a shower. It would definitely result in a very embarrassing situation for him.
He took the clothes he prepared for yesterday off his shoulder and put them on top of the washing machine. He glanced down and saw his wet school uniform inside it. He will have to take it out the washing machine and hang it on the laundry line in the garden after his shower. He looked away from the washing machine and turned around to look at the mirror, wanting to know if he looked better than yesterday.
He eyed his reflection in the mirror, nodding his head head to himself. He looked a bit better than he did yesterday. The darkened corners under his eyes which he noticed yesterday shorty before going to bed were gone. His good sleep certainly did it's job at getting rid of them. Now, he just had to take a nice warm shower and he will look exactly like he did on the day of the bombings. Him looking far more rested than he did yesterday didn't change the fact that he needed to take a shower, his greasy hair being the main prove of it.
He didn't mind have the need to wash himself, though, because he enjoyed warm showers. He didn't plan to stay in the shower for long, though, because of him planning to head into the city with Guthrum in an hour, maybe two. He didn't want to make Guthrum wait longer, because he didn't want to listen to talking book complain about him not keeping to his word to him. He doubted it would be as amusing as when Guthrum complained about him not referring to him by his full name, like he desired to.
After taking a shower which lasted about ten minutes, Y/N walked out of the bathroom, all clean up and refreshed. He smiled to himself when he looked at the mirror and saw his reflection before walking out of the bathroom, because he now looked as if he didn't spend the last few days making his way through ruined city. At least he won't earn weirded out looks from the people in the city like he did yesterday when he was making his way to his house with Guthrum trapped in his grasp.
He cringed a bit at the feeling on his wet school uniform which he had taken out of the washing machine before walking out of the bathroom hanging on his right shoulder, feeling how this area of the shirt he usually wore around his house was getting wetter with each passing second. He walked down the stairs and from there made his way into the living room where Grimoire Guthrum was waiting for him.
After turning the TV in the living room on and giving Guthrum a simple explanation of what television and streaming services were, he set the clothes which he was going to put on himself later on the couch and made his way to the entrance to the garden. He slid it open and entered the garden. His garden wasn't anything extraordinary. He didn't took care of it too much, because he didn't spend that much of his free time in it.
He took the first part of his school uniform off his shoulder and hung it up on the laundry line, making sure to do the same with the other parts of his uniform, hoping they will be dry once he will return to his house with Guthrum after they will do whatever the floating book had planned for today for both of them. With that being done, he turned away from the laundry line and walked back into his house, closing the door behind him right after entering it.
He made his way into the kitchen, passing by Guthrum who was still watching the TV, completely interested in it, like a child that just discovered something new to them. He made a mental note to show him some of his favourite movies and TV shows in the future. Perharps the floating book would end up liking them as well. He smiled in amusement as he entered the kitchen, thinking how Guthrum would react to other things which were completely unknown to him such as the internet or video games.
He opened the fridge and and took all the ingredients he needed to make himself his favourite breakfast which was omlette. He normally used two eggs when he was making himself an omlette, but this time he used two more, considering how starved he was after eating nothing but scraps since the bombings. He wasn't planning to make just the omlette, though. He also had plans to make himself two toasts.
He pulled out two pieces of bread from the breadbox and placed it next to the eggs he had prepared for his omlette. He began preparing his breakfast shorty after. It took him a bit longer than it normally did, because this time he was making himself more food than he usually did. He took out a plate from the drawer after he was done preparing his breakfast and placed his food on it, ready to dig into it the moment he set it down on it.
He walked out of the kitchen and walked into the living room. He sat down on the couch and immediately dig into his breakfast. He smiled to himself, enjoying the taste. He didn't consider himself to be a five star chef, but at least it was eatible and didn't made him gag. He never had many problems with preparing basic foods for himself, because he's been doing this ever since his sister taught him how to prepare them. He missed her cooking, though. It was better than this, mostly because she was doing it for longer than he did.
He swallowed his piece of toast and looked up at Guthrum, "You seem to like television, Guthrum."
"I do find it interesting." Grimoire Guthrum admitted, not taking his eyes off the TV in front of him and his user, "There was no such thing in the world before I was put to sleep. People have really come a long way."
"You can say that. People have come up a lot of things since you were put asleep..." Y/N paused for a moment as he didn't know how to say, because Guthrum didn't told him for how he was asleep, "For how long you were asleep to be exact?"
Grimoire Guthrum stayed silent as he was asked this question again. He tried to remember the things which he had trouble remembering after Y/N discovered him in his school when his new user was asleep, but nothing was coming to his mind. His mind remained filled with blanks.
He decided to avoid answering to it again, by asking, "Tell me, lad. Are there more things which people have invented in the recent years that I may find interesting?"
Y/N placed his free hand on his chin in thought, "There a few things that I think you may find interesting I can think of at the moment. I can show you them later."
"Good." Grimoire Guthrum said, "You will show me them after we will return to your household after your training."
Y/N nodded his head and went back to eating his breakfast. He continued to eat it for about ten minutes while watching the TV programme that Guthrum was watching at the moment, even though he wasn't as invested in it as the floating book, occassionaly exchanging a word with him. After eating his breakfast and emptying his plate, Y/N got up from the sofa and walked into the kitchen, placing it on the counter next to the fridge. He walked back into the living room right after and informed Guthrum that he was almost ready to go. He just had to put his clothes on himself.
It was exactly like he did right after. He took off the clothes he usually wore around his house and made sure to put the clothes he took out of the wardrobe in his room on himself. After putting his clothes on himself, here was one more thing he had to take from his room. He told Guthrum to wait for him by the door and started making his way towards it, assuring him that it shouldn't take him long.
He reached his room a moment later and entered it. He walked over to his backpack which was laying on the floor next to his desk and picked it up. He unzipped it and turned it around, emptying it of all of it's things that were inside it, spilling them all over his bed. He zipped it and slouched it over his back, before walking out of his room. He was taking his backpack with him, because he remembered Guthrum telling him about a few matters that they will have to take care of, before they will begin his training and perharps one of those matters will include buying something.
"There you are, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said the moment Y/N stepped into his view, "Did you took care of everything you wanted?"
"Yes." Y/N nodded in response, "I checked if I took everything I wanted when I was walking to the exit. I didn't forget anything."
"Are we good to go now?" Grimoire Guthrum asked another question.
"Yes." Y/N nodded his head for the second time. There was still one thing that he had to ask Guthrum about, though. Guthrum already told him about it yesterday, but better safe than sorry right?, "Are you sure you won't be visible to normal people, because i doubt if i can find a way how to explain floating book to them as normal thing."
"Yes. I am certain about it." Grimoire Guthrum confirmed it, sounding pretty annoyed to be asked about it. Didn't he already explain it to his new user?, "I thought I made myself pretty clear about it in the argument we had after we arrived at your house."
"Okay." Y/N said as he raised his hands in the defensive manner, only to lower them a second later, "I just wanted to make sure. Better safe than sorry, right?"
"It doesn't change the fact that there was no need of asking me about this again. Even if it was just to make sure." Grimoire Guthrum replied, "I already explained it to you yesterday and I, Grimoire Guthrum are never wrong."
"If you say so, Guthrum." Y/N said, stopping in front of the exit from his house. Guthrum really had to work on his ego. Him getting annoyed whenever he didn't refer to him by his full name was pretty amusing, but the annoying sides of Guthrum's large ego will definitely start to show up soon.
Y/N put his shoes on and grabbed the door handle. He walked out of his house, making sure to lock the door with this key, before tossing it into the same pocket where he kept his wallet in. He made his way to the small gate in front of him and pushed it open, before walking through it and exiting the area of his house. He locked the gate behind him and took one last glance at his house. He started to walk through his neighbourhood, passing by the houses of his neighbours. Guthrum followed him through the neighbourhood, floating above him.
He wasn't the only one person walking through the neighbourhood at the moment, though. It wasn't long, a few seconds to be exact, before he noticed two people walk out of one of the houses in front of him. Those two people were Honoka Takamiya, his neighbour and a classmate, and Ayaka Kagari, his classmate and apparently a neighbour as well, because he spotted her walking out from Honoka's house along with him for a few days now. It would explain why they started spend so much time with each other in the past several days, but it wasn't Y/N's business.
Honoka made sure to shut the gate after he and Ayaka walked through it and began walking through the neighbourhood with Ayaka, walking in the same direction as Y/N did. Y/N shrugged his shoulders to himself once they appeared in his view, not really bothered by it, because he didn't think they would notice Guthrum floating above his head. If only he knew how wrong he was. He continued to walk forward himself, walking a few meters behind his neighbours who seemed to be having a conversation with each other for the next moment until something happened.
"Hey!" A dark blond haired girl shouted as she appeared out of thin air in front of Ayaka and Honoka. Y/N stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes widening, because at least from his pesperctive, this girl appeared out of nowhere. Guthrum who was right behind him stopped floating forward as well, "Fire Witch!"
Her name was Tanpopo Kuraishi, or at least he thought it was her name. Y/N wasn't exactly sure. He didn't interact with her or her friends ever since they transfered into his class, even though the one with an eyepatch sat in front of him in his classes. Speaking of her friends, all four of them joined her side just a second later. There was one thing he noticed about all of them. All five of them were wearing white robes which appeared to be the ones that a witch would wear.
He looked up at Guthrum, whispering to him as he wanted to be sure, "Are they?"
"Yes." Grimoire Guthrum quietly replied as he lowered himself down a bit, hiding himself behind Y/N, because he didn't want to be spotted by them, even though he was certain that he would swap them away like flies, if they would try to attack him, "The girls that just appeared in front of your neighbours are witches. All five of them. Tower Witches to be exact."
"How do you know they are Tower Witches?" Y/N wanted to know why Guthrum immediately labelled Tanpopo and her friends as Tower Witches.
"Their robes are white." Grimoire Guthrum responded, "Tower Witches wear white clothing while Workshop Witches wear black clothing."
Y/N nodded his head, processing the information that he just received from Guthrum as he didn't recall the talking book telling him this the day before. So Tanpopo and her friends were all witches. Tower Witches to be exact. At least it would make sense why all of them transferred into their class at the same time. Now was left with one thing to wonder about them. Why would left all transfer into his class at the same time? There could have been no reason for that, but it didn't seem to be the right answer to him.
He thought he came up the an answer to this question when he looked at Ayaka, recalling Tanpopo calling her a fire witch a few seconds ago, making sure to take a mental note of this fact. Now that the thought about it, it would actually make sense for her to be a witch, considering that she was Kazane's daughter and Kazane's office was the place where he found Grimoire Guthrum and accepted to become his new user.
He may have found possible answer to why Tanpopo and her friends transferred into his class, but another question popped into his mind when he looked at Honoka. Was his neighbour a magic user too? It rather most likely. It's not lke he would notice anything strange about Honoka. He and Honoka may have been living in the same neighbourhood for quite a while now, and they were on the friendly terms with each other, but he never really interacted that much with him, or with his younger sister or with their mother. Though, It would explain why he started spending so much time with Ayaka at school in the past two weeks, much to the dismay of Ayaka's fans who wouldn't leave the poor guy for days after Ayaka started spending her time with him during breaks .
He shifted his gaze away from what was happening in front of him when he heard someone, or rather something walk past him. He titled his head to his right and his eyes widened in suprise upon spotting another thing which was completely new to him. Two large rabbits appeared in his view. The two rabbits stepped towards Ayaka and Honoka, making stepping sounds as if they were mechical whenever their pawns or feet, Y/N didn't know how to call it in this case collided with the ground. The two rabbits completely ignored his presence and walked past him. They stopped behind Ayaka and Honoka, looking to be ready for the fight that was about to happen.
He shifted his gaze from the rabbits back towards what was happening in front of him when he heard one of the girls cry out a name which was unknown to him. This name was Medusa. Who was this Medusa? Y/N had no idea. He heard about mythological Medusa before, but he doubted that the girl that just cried out her name was referring to the mythological version of her. It was probably just someone, probably a witch, who was named after her. He will probably find out who this Medusa was in the future.
He heard how Tanpopo cried out one final thing to Ayaka before taking a fighting stance, followed by all her friends. It was when the fire witches charged at Ayaka, roaring as they did so, with Tanpopo running in the front of the group of five. Ayaka remained where she stood, still looking at them with the same blank expression she wore on her face for the entire time, as if she didn't care about five witches charging at her and saw them as nothing but an annoying nuisances in her and Honoka's way.
Y/N leaned forward, looking forward to see this fight, intending to make some mental notes out of it for the future as Grimoire Guthrum floated up a bit and looked over Y/N's shoulder, making sure to stay as well hidden as he could, wanting to witness his first fight between the witches in... he didn't know in how long.
Their hopes to see a great fight between the magic users were quickly slashed, because the fight ended as soon as it started. Ayaka grabbed Tanpopo and the one with an eyepatch by their heads the moment they reached her and Honoka and lifted them up in the air, holding them above the ground. She tightened her grip around their heads and put more pressure on them, which clearly put the two witches trapped in her grasp in pain.
Tanpopo and the eyepatch's comrades didn't do anything to help them and to free them from Ayaka's grasp. They all sat down on the road for some reason instead of trying to fight back and trying to free their comrades, looking up at Ayaka in pure horror and fear. One of them, even started whimpering to herself, raising her right hand up to her eyes after they watered up. The two rabbits weren't doing to do anything to help them either. They just stood, watching everything from their spot.
Tanpopo was drooling from her mouth as she said something to Ayaka in a questioning tone, but Y/N couldn't understand what it was. The eyepatch lifted her right hand up to the hand which was holding her in the air and patted it. Y/N understood it as a form on surrending, even without understanding what the eyepatch said to Ayaka when she patted her hand.
His theory was quickly confirmed. The eyepatch freed herself from Ayaka's grasp and turned away from her opponent. She quickly started fleeing from the fight and the other three quickly followed her, quickly running out from everyone's sight, leaving Tanpopo who was still trapped in Ayaka's grasp all by herself. The two rabbits continued to watch everything from where they stood, not doing anything about what was hapening in front of them.
"What an unimpressive display." Grimoire Guthrum voiced his thoughts about the fight, disappointment evident in his voice the moment Tanpopo's friend disppeared from his and Y/N view, "How incompetent these witches must be if a person that defeated them didn't have to use magic?"
"Wow, Guthrum." Y/N whispered to Guthrum, looking over his shoulder at the floating book, not wanting the witches in front of him to notice Guthrum, "Talk about being harsh."
"I'm merely saying what is on my mind here." Grimoire Guthrum explained, "I would be lying if I said that those five witches don't have a lot work ahead of them if they want to be considered more than an annoying nuisance by their opponents."
It was when Tanpopo freed herself from Ayaka's grasp, or rather Ayaka got bored of holding her and let go off her. Y/N watched how the dark blonde turned away from Ayaka and fleed from the fight, but unlike her friends, he could see an angered scowl on her face as she fleed out of her opponents sight. It wasn't long before the two rabbits turned away from Ayaka and Honoka and began walking away from the scene, looking to be in some sort of conversation with each other.
Y/N had his gaze set on the two rabbits, making sure to held his breath, and not to make anything that would earn their attention. The two rabbits walked walked past him and Guthrum, too busy with their conversation to notice him as they passed him. He waited for the rabbits to distance themselves from him and Guthrum, not wanting them to shift their attention towards him and Guthrum.
He let out a deep breath, stopping holding his breath once they distanced themselves from him and Guthrum. He looked over his shoulder at Guthrum and asked him, "What do we do now? Honoka and Ayaka will be able to spot you and I don't think we will be able to pass them without you getting spotted."
He knew they could have just walk behind them for the rest of the road, but there was risk of them turning around, which would result in them spotting Guthrum behind him. He knew the possibility of it happening was a small one, but it could have still end up happening. He knew he didn't have to hide the fact of him being in possession of Grimoire Guthrum, but he preferred for it to remain a secret, at least for now. Guthrum could have stay hidden behind his back, out of their sight, until they will end up going separate ways, but he doubted that the talking book would agree for this.
"We better come up with something fast." Grimoire Guthrum said, "Because I won't be spending the unknown amount of time hidden behind your back."
Y/N nodded his head to himself, as his thoughts about the idea of Grimoire Guthrum staying hidden behind his back were just confirmed by the floating book. He remained silent for the next few seconds before an idea popped into his mind.
"I could pack you in my backpack." He suggested the idea that just popped into his mind to Guthrum, pointing backwards at his backpack, "I doubt they will ask me if they can take a peek into it."
"Absolutely not." Grimoire Guthrum immediately disagreed with Y/N's idea, "Nothing will force me to hide in your bag. Yesterday, you held me in a way which would definitely choke me to death if I needed to breath until we reached your household and I'm not going through anything like this again!"
"Do you have any better ideas?" Y/N questioned, "Because we're clearly in a need of a better one, now. if you disagree with the one I came up with."
"I do in fact have came up with a better idea than me hiding in your backpack." Grimoire Guthrum replied, "I'll float my way to the place out of your neighbours sight, without getting spotted by either of them. I'll be waiting for you around the next corner."
Y/N thought about Guthrum's idea for a second and nodded his head, deciding to go along with it, "Alright."
"Make sure to be fast, lad." Grimoire Guthrum added to his plan, "I think you will know what to except if they will pass the corner faster than you will, if this is the direction they're heading to."
Y/N offered Guthrum another nod of his head as the talking book turned away from him and began floating his way to the place where he and Y/N were going to met up a moment later. Turning away from the place Guthrum just went to, Y/N pushed himself into a walk forward himself, increasing his pace a bit as he wanted to make his way to the next corner before Honoka and Ayaka will get close to it.
"Hey, L/N-kun." He heard how Honoka greeted him as he was about to walk past him and Ayaka. Y/N turned around to look at Honoka and Ayaka, mostly to Honoka, because he was the one who greeted him.
"Good day to you, Honoka." He turned to look at the tall girl next to Honoka, "Good day to you too, Princess." He shifted his gaze back towards Honoka, because his neighbour forgot about something. He couldn't blame him for forgetting about that, though, It's not like they interacted much after that, "Please, drop the suffix, Honoka, and call me by my first name. I don't like when the people call me by first last name."
"Right." Honoka said, a bit sheepishly as he recalled Y/N telling him that the one time when he walked him and Kasumi to his school after they transfered there. He rubbed the back of his head, with a sheepish smile, "Sorry. It just flew out of my mind."
"It's alright." Y/N waved it off. He had gotten used to the people forgetting about it. Honoka would be suprised how many times it happened, "I understand if you forgot about it. It's not like we talk everyday."
Honoka offered Y/N a kind smile, "We may not talk with each other very often, but I'll still make sure to remember about it for the next time we'll speak."
Y/N nodded his head at his neighbour, offering him a small smile in return, "Okay. I'll make sure to remember that you promised to remember it for the next time we'll talk. I still won't be angry if you will forget about it, though."
Honoka nodded his head back at his neighbour, making sure to remember to refer to him only by his first name the next time he'll speak with him. It will probably not happen soon, considering that his neighbour liked to spend his time by himself. The only time when they interacted for longer than just a few words was when he asked Y/N if he could walk him and Kasumi to his school after they trasferred there and show them around to which Y/N complied.
He noticed a backpack on Y/N's back shorty after and decided to ask him about it, "Why are you wearing your backpack, Y/N?"
"I'm planning to spend some of my free time out of the city. A day out in the city would be the best way to celebrate the end of the exams which I hopefully didn't mess up. I especially have one place in my mind if I want to relax after the last few days." Y/N explained to Honoka why he was heading out right now, of course cutting the part about Grimoire Guthrum from his explanation, "Perharps I will even end up buying something. The reason why I am wearing my backpack now."
"Me and Kagari-san won't bother you anymore, then." Honoka offered his neighbour another smile, "Hope you will have fun today in whatever you have planned for yourself."
Y/N nodded his head at Honoka's words and smiled back, deciding to wish them something in return, "Thanks. Hope you two will have fun in whatever you are planning to do today as well."
Y/N turned away from Honoka and Ayaka and pushed himself into walk agian. Honoka watched his neighbour walk away from him and Ayaka until the foreginer disappeared from his view on the next corner. He turned away from the road ahead of him and looked at Ayaka. He saw her looking at him with the same blank expression on her face, but she looked as if she was going to ask him about something.
He quickly realized what it was and explained it to her, "Y/N asked me and Kasumi-chan to call him by his first name when he walked us to school after we transferred there and I figured it would the best to return the favor and tell him to call me by my first name."
Ayaka nodded her head in understanding, recalling seeing the foreign boy from her class walk with Honoka and Kasumi on the day when she spotted Honoka on the schoolyard.
"Let's go, Takamiya-kun. We can't be late." She said after a moment. Her mom called her earlier this morning and informed her about an important emergency meeting which was going to take place in her office in school, "My mom said that this emergency meeting is of utter importance and all the witches protecting this town have to be present."
Honoka nodded his head, him and Ayaka pushing themselves into walk again as Y/N set his gaze up on the floating book after passing the corner, meeting up with him just the way they planned to.
"There you are, lad." The floating book said to him the moment he spotted him, "It took you longer than I excepted."
"I know." Y/N said as he walked forward himself, with Guthrum floating above him, "Honoka greeted me when I was about to pass him and Ayaka. I stopped and greeted him in return. We exchanged a few words afterwards."
"Exchanged a few words?" Grimoire Guthrum wanted to be sure if he didn't misheard it to which Y/N nodded in confirmation, "You didn't tell him or the witch that was with him anything about me, right?"
"No." Y/N shook his head, "I just told him that I'm planning to spend my free time out in the city. I didn't mention anything about someone going with me to him."
"Good. I had to make sure if you ended up mentioning something to them about me." Grimoire Guthrum explained his reason for why he asked Y/N this question, "You could have gotten a bit too comfortable while talking with them and it could have resulted in you mentioning something to them about me or something else that normal citizens, such as you before encountering me, have no knowledge of."
Y/N just nodded his head to Guthrum's words, understanding why Guthrum wanted to make sure, before asking him, "You mentioned we will have to do a few things before we will start my training. What is the first thing we need to take care of?"
"The first thing we have to do today is buying you a robe." Grimoire Guthrum replied, "I hope you weren't thinking that I will train you in the clothes you have on yourself right now."
"No. I wasn't." Y/N shook his head. Or at least he wasn't thinking that he will be trained in the clothes he had on himself right now until the few moments ago when he saw Tanpopo and her friends. Good thing he took his wallet with him. He will definitely have to spend some money today.
"Good. Do you know a place where we can purchase you one?" Grimoire Guthrum questioned his user, "I don't really know your city very well and I don't know a place where we could purchase you one."
Y/N nodded his head, recalling the one place which he had visited with his sister a few times. It was the place where he bought his knight costume for the yearly medieval event he participated in with her, "Yes. I think I know good place for it."
----
Honoka Takamiya had a few theories in mind on why he and Ayaka had to come to their school on Saturday. He asked Ayaka about it when they were on their way to school, but Ayaka told him that she'll explain it to him after she'll be done with the emergency meeting with her mom and the other four witches which were protecting the town. The theory which seemed to be most likely about this meeting was that it was related to what happened with Weekend during the past few days.
This is how he found himself to be standing in front of Kazane's office, leaning against the wall next to it, waiting for the meeting between the witches in the chairwoman's office to end. He and Ayaka were the last ones to arrive at the school, because Rinon, Touko, Natsume and Atori were already waiting for Ayaka to arrive in the chairwoman's office along with Ayaka's mom who was sitting on her seat, when they had arrived at the school. The meeting started as soon as Ayaka entered the office.
He pressed the back of his head against the wall he was leaning against, hearing how the meeting in the chairwoman's office continued as each person inside it was saying something, but he couldn't really make out anything they were saying to each other. He will have to wait for it to end and ask Ayaka about what it was about after it will end, of course if she will have the permission to talk about it from the chairwoman.
The meeting concluded several minutes later. He titled his head to the side as the door to the chairwoman's office was open. Ayaka walked out of the chairwoman's office and was followed by Rinon, Touko, Natsume and Atori. The chairwoman stayed in her seat as the door was closed by Atori. He exchanged a few words with the witches, or with a doll in Atori's case as she still used it to communicate with the others, and all of them went in their own separate ways.
"Kagari-san." He called out for Ayaka a few moments after leaving the school with her, earning the taller girls attention, "Why did the chairwoman called you and the others for this meeting? Was it related to everything that happened in the last few days?"
"No." Ayaka responded, "This topic was brieftly mentioned during it, but it wasn't the main reason why mom called everyone for this meeting." Honoka looked at her with curiosity. If Weekend bombing the entire city and everything that happened during it wasn't the main topic of this meeting, then what it was? Ayaka made sure to explain it to him, "Grimoire Guthrum has been stolen from her office. We believe that someone associated with the Tower Witches may be responsible for it. She wanted us to keep our eyes open for things that may led us to who currently is in possession of him."
Honoka looked at her in confusion because he has never heard her mention this Grimoire Guthrum before, "Grimoire Guthrum?"
"An old powerful magical book. It is considered to be a few hundreds years old." Ayaka explained as she understood why Honoka was confused by this term, "Mom had him in her possession for years and was trying to find a way how to wake up him for all this time, but without success."
"Wake him up?" Honoka wanted to be sure if he didn't misheard it. Why would the chairwoman try to wake this Grimoire Guthrum up? Weren't Grimoire's supposed to be books, like the one book which was carried around by one of those tower witches that attacked him and Ayaka earlier this day?
"Grimoire Guthrum is a book, but he is not like any other book." Ayaka pointed out, replying to Honoka's question which she knew he was going to ask her, thanks to the confusion in his voice, "He can talk and interact with the people around him like a normal human being."
Honoka nodded his head in understanding before asking Ayaka another question related to Grimoire Guthrum, "What do you mean the chairwoman was trying to find a way how to wake him up from his sleep for a few years now?"
"A powerful spell was put on Grimoire Guthrum around the time of his disappearence which put him to sleep." Ayaka answered, "He was considered to be destroyed for a very long time. Mom thought he was destroyed as well, before she discovered him a few years ago and took him with her, intending to wake him up from his sleep. She tried to do it for a few years now, but without success."
"For how long he was considered to be destroyed?" Honoka asked another question out of curiosity as he wanted to learn more about this Grimoire Guthrum. Of course if Ayaka was allowed to share this information with him by her mom.
"Over 140 years." Ayaka replied.
Honoka's eyes widened in suprise as he wasn't excepting to hear this from Ayaka. Grimoire Guthrum was asleep for over 140 years? This was actually far longer than he had excepted. At least he could understand why he was considered to be destroyed for so long. He would probably consider this Grimoire Guthrum to be destroyed as well if he heard about him earlier.
"Kagari-san." He called out for Ayaka, another question regarding Grimoire Guthrum appearing in his mind, "Why was Grimoire Guthrum put to sleep for this long?"
"It is uncertain." Ayaka began as Honoka looked at her in confusion. She made sure to explain it to him right after, "Many facts in relation to his disappearance are uncertain. What happened to his previous user, who was a mage associated with the Workshop Witches, after his disappearance is uncertain as well. Many witches thought he had gone into hiding but this theory was proven to be wrong after the remains of his body along with the body of a witch were discovered over 60 years after his and Grimoire Guthrum's disappearence. The witches that found his body were barely able to identify it."
Honoka felt how his eyes widened for another time at another bit of information he received from Ayaka. The former user of Grimoire Guthrum was really lost for this long and all that was found him was his body? It was when another thing came into his mind. Ayaka mentioned that another body was found along with the body of the former user of Grimoire Guthrum.
"What about the witch that was found with Grimoire Guthrum's former user?" He asked as soon as this thought flew through his mind, "Is her identify known?"
"The identify of the witch that was found with him was never discovered, but many think she was someone who wanted to use the power of Grimoire Guthrum for herself." Ayaka explained as Honoka made sure to listen to everything she had to say to him relating this topic, "Perharps she was the reason why the former user of Grimoire Guthrum made a decision about putting him to sleep. Many think he did this out of fear of someone powerful and dangerous becoming Grimoire Guthrum's user. Grimoire Guthrum can make anyone, even someone who have never used magic before in their life, before becoming their user, a powerful magic user."
"If she wanted to take the power of Grimoire Guthrum, then she could have been a Tower Witch." Honoka theorised, "After all, Grimoire Guthrum is associated with the Workshop Witches, right?"
"No." Ayaka responded, "He's not."
"Huh?" Honoka looked confused by her answer.
"Grimoire Guthrum is neutral. He isn't associated with neither of the witch factions. He doesn't pay much attention to the differences between Tower Witches and Workshop Witches." Ayaka explained why Guthrum wasn't associated with either of the witch factions, "If someone associated with the Workshop Witches is his user, then he does what they do, but if someone associated with the Tower Witches is his user, then he does what they do."
Honoka once again nodded his head and didn't ask Ayaka another question, because he didn't have more of them for now, now understanding why the chairowoman called Ayaka, Rinon, Atori, Touko and Natsume today for the emergency meeting and understanding why she wanted all of them were ordered to keep their eyes open on the things that could have take them to whoever has stolen Grimoire Guthrum from the chairwoman's office.
Ayaka turned her gaze away from Honoka once she realized he won't be asking her more question about Grimoire Guthrum and turned it towards the path ahead of them. Her mind wandered off to the topic of the emergency meeting she was called for to participate in by her mom as she and Honoka continued to walk next to each other in a comfortable silence.
She at first suspected someone from Weekend's team being responsible for stealing Grimoire Guthrum and voiced this theory to her mom shorty after the emergency meeting started, but her theory was quickly disproved by her mom. Her mom asked Weekend who was in her custody since yesterday but the genuine suprise on Weekend's face when she asked her about Grimoire Guthrum was the only answer she needed to get from her to understand that she had no idea about her mom being in possession of Grimoire Guthrum, or at least she had no idea about it before her mom herself told her about it.
The possibility of either Medusa and Chronoire being responsible for Grimoire Guthrum's disappearing from her mom's office was brought up during the meeting, but the two Tower Witches were quickly scratched off the list. Her mom had seen Chronoire shorty after Honoka restored the town and the short witch didn't appear to be in possession of the old magical book. Medusa was scratched off the list as well after Rinon mention that Kasumi saw how Medusa took off with most of her underlings.
With the main three suspects scratched off the list, they were left with no real suspects at the moment and had to keep their eyes open for any potential leads. They had to find who was in possession of Grimoire Guthrum and if this person was dangerous or not as soon as possible. If this person was dangerous and powerful, then Grimoire Guthrum had to be taken away from them, no matter if he was still sleeping or not, because it meant a great danger to the normal citizens.
----
Grimoire Guthrum let out a frustated sigh, looking down at at his new user. He and Y/N were in the store which his new user had advised them to visit when he asked him about a place in the city where they could buy him a robe. His new user was dressed in the clothes he had choosen to be his robes the moment he set his eyes on them and needless to say, the floating book disliked his choice of clothing.
If Grimoire Guthrum was honest with himself, him and Y/N buying his new user his robe was taking them longer than he thought, because he and Y/N had different opinions about what kind of robe his new user should buy for himself.
"Don't even think about choosing such a idiotic costume as your robe, lad." He said, losing the count of how many times he said those words at this point.
"Why are you against this idea, Guthrum?" Y/N questioned Guthrum, though his voice was a bit muffled because of the mask covering his entire face. Not long after entering the store, a costumeof Plague Doctor appeared in his view and he instantly wanted to try it out, mostly because he wanted to own one for a while now. Why? SCP 049 being his favourite SCP was one of the main reasons why.
"Do you really need to ask, lad?" Grimoire Guthrum asked in return, sounding as if he was just asked the most obvious question in his life, "Why would you even want to own a ridiculous costume like this one?"
"I wanted to own a costume like this one for quite a while now, but I never got the opportunity to buy one until now." Y/N glanced down to eye the costume he had on himself right now, "Not to mention that the one I have on me right now is very well made." He lifted up the cane he was holding in his right hand a bit, only to place it back on the floor a second later, "Even a cane comes with it."
"I may be fine with the cane that comes with it." Grimoire Guthrum admitted that he did like the cane which Y/N was now holding in his right hand, "Because you will need to use something like this to point in the direction in which you will want the spells such as Dark Blast to head to, but even I can't find the right words to describe how terrible of a choice it is."
"Isn't this suppose to be my robe, not yours?" Y/N pointed out, "I think I should choose the one that I will like and will want to wear."
"You may be the one wearing it, but nothing my will convince me to have my user wearing something like this!" Grimoire Guthrum argued, "You are my user and you will have the robe that is worthy of me! Not some costume of whatever this is!"
Y/N placed his hand on his masked forehead and rubbed it as he already lost the count of how many times Guthrum had told him how awful his choice of robe was. He let out a sigh, deciding to give Guthrum a chance at choosing his robe. Who knows. Perharps he will end up liking this one too.
"...Fine." He said after a moment of staying silent, taking his hand off his forehead, "I'll give your choice of my robe a chance. Maybe I will end up liking it as well. Which robe do you think is worthy of your user?"
"Good to see you came to your senses and asked me, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said, his tone calming down as he was clearly pleased by Y/N agreeing to give his choice a chance. He floated over to one of the shelves and stopped in front of it, his gaze not leaving his current user, "I took a brief look around the costumes in this store and I was able to find a robe which I think will be worthy of someone I am calling my user."
Y/N rolled his eyes behind the mask covering his face and walked over to the shelve in front of which Grimoire Guthrum was floating. The floating book poked one of the costumes on the shelv and Y/N grabbed it a second later. He bit his lip behind his mask when he looked at the picture presenting how this costume looked like. He didn't like it very much to say the least, but he still went into the changing room to try it out. Perharps his opinion on this costume will change once he will see it on hmself.
He walked out of the changing room a moment later, now wearing the costume Grimoire Guthrum had picked for him, giving the floating book a good look at how he looked like it in. HE heard how Guthrum let out a pleased sigh as he looked down and eyed the robe Guthrum has choosen for him.
He let out a sigh, not liking the way he looked like in it, mostly because he looked like a monk in it, "I look ridiculous."
"At least this time we are agreeing on something, lad." Grimoire Guthrum agreed. His new user did look ridiculous in those robes. At least it was better than the one his new user choose for himself a moment after they entered this store, "It is still far better than the robe you choose for yourself when we first entered this store."
"I wouldn't say that. I prefer the last one." Y/N shook his head at Guthrum's words, disagreeing with what the floating book just said to him. He placed his hand on his forehead, "We have to think of something, because we clearly have different tastes when it comes to choosin costume for my robe." An idea popped into his mind a few seconds later, "How about we will just look through the costumes together until we will find one which both of us will like?"
"This seems like the best idea." Grimoire Guthrum agreed with Y/N's idea, "We already spend much more time in this place than I thought we will and I don't want to waste more of it, because there is still one more thing we have to take care after we will take care of this."
It was exactly what they did because neither of them wanted to stay in this store for any longer, because they had more things to take care of in the city. They started to look through every shelve in the room that had costumes on, occasionaly exchanging an opinion whenever either Y/N or Guthrum stumbled upon a costume they liked which always ended up with the other side voicing their disagreement with the choice, showing how different tasted they have from each other a few more times.
It took them several more minutes, but ultimately they managed to stumble upon a costume which both of them ended up liking. Y/N took it from the shelve and walked into the changing room. He walked out of it a moment later and looked up at Guthrum, wearing the robe which they had picked together for him. He nodded his head at him, his opinion about it not changing. He really liked the dark and red elements of it. Guthrum moved up and down which Y/N has come to understand as Guthrum's form of nodding.
He walked back into the changing room and walked out of it shorty after, now wearing his normal clothes only. He started to make his way to the cash register shorty after, carrying two costumes in his hands as Guthrum floated closely behind him. He stopped in front of the cash register and placed both of the costumes on it. He wasn't planning to buy just the costume he'll be using his robe from now on. He was also buying the Plague Doctor costume. He finally got the opportunity to buy it after so long and he was not going to let it pass by him.
"Thanks for buying here." The girl behind the counter smiled sweetly after Y/N paid for both of the costumes, "Please, come again."
Y/N nodded his head at the girl behind the counter and took the costumes he had just purchased, intending to put them in his backpack once he will walk out of this store. He turned away from the girl standing behind the counter and walked out of the store along with Guthrum. He closed the door to the store behind him and took off his backpack. He placed it on the sidewalk and unzipped it.
"I still can't believe you decided to purchase this idiotic costume, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said, referring the Plague Doctor costume, watching his new user put the two costumes, one which he will use as his robe, and one which he will use for, Guthrum didn't know why his new user purchased this costume if he was not going to use it as his robe, in his backpack.
Y/N zipped the backpack and put it back on himself, "I may not have it as my robe, but it doesn't change the fact I wanted to own a costume like this one for a while now. Not to mention, many people would disagree your opinion about it being idiotic."
"Many people would disagree with my opinion about the costume you brought just because you wanted to have one? People really have no taste nowadays." Grimoire Guthrum stated as he and Y/N started walking away from the store, "How did you know about this store in the first place?"
"My older sister likes to do cosplay in her free time and she brought me to this store a few times when she wanted me to do one with her." Y/N replied, "It was one of the things we were doing as a way of bonding when she was still living with me. She was always more it into than me, though, but I still enjoyed it."
"Cosplay?" Grimoire Guthrum questioned, "What is this activity? I have never heard of it before."
Y/N nodded his head, understanding why didn't Guthrum knew what it was, considering he didn't knew what television was earlier this day, "It's when people dress themselves up as fictional characters from the franchises they like."
"Why would people want to dress as fictional characters?" Grimoire Guthrum asked his new user another question.
Y/N shrugged his shoulders, "Because it's what they like to do in their free time."
He looked out of the corner of his eye and saw a few TV standing on the display in the store he was about to pass by with Guthrum. His eyes slightly widened when something strange on the TV's caught his attention. He focused his entire attention towards them and took a few steps towards the glass to take a better look at them, with Grimoire Guthrum following his example. He noticed a news report which was informing people about a large penguin moving across the city.
He placed his hand on his chin, realizing he has seen something familiar not that long ago. It wasn't a large penguin, like in this case, but it was something related to this animal. He recalled seeing a lot of penguins on the walls of the buildings when the town was restored back to the way it looked like before the building. Perharps it was connected somehow to it. He was aware of the possibility of it being just a coincidence, but this time, he doubted it was one.
"Witch activity?" He questioned Guthrum as he looked up at him, wanting to know if the theory that just formed in his mind was correct.
"Yes." Grimoire Guthrum's answer was short and quick, immediately recognizing the large penguin as something done by a magic user.
-------
After purchasing Y/N's robe, Grimoire Guthrum and Y/N were left with only one more thing to take care of, before the latter will properly begin his training, with the former being his tutor. They had to find a place where they could do their training without having worry about someone bothering them. It took Y/N a few minutes to come up with a good place for it, but ultimately he came up with a place which seemed to be perfect for him. An abandoned warehouse.
He was now standing in the middle of the said warehouse, looking around himself. Grimoire Guthrum was not with him at the moment, because the floating book had one more matter to take care of. He needed to make one small change in Y/N's robe. Y/N gave his robe to Guthrum, asking him what he wanted to do with it and Guthrum told him that he'll tell him after the fact, which only peaked Y/N's curiosity.
While waiting for Guthrum to come back to him with his robe, Y/N looked around himself for another time, losing the count of how many he did at this point. The warehouse looked exactly like the last time when he visited it. A good portion of it was empty, but some old wooden crates and some old equipment which was normally used at the warehouses were still splattered around it, with dust covering them. This warehouse just looked like any other place which wasn't used by anyone in a long time.
He titled his head to the side when he heard something move towards him and saw Grimoire Guthrum floating towards him, holding his improved robe in his red magic. Y/N lowered his gaze towards his robe, red aura surrounding it as it was floating above the floor, below the floating book. He stared Guthrum's magic in awe in his eyes, because it was the very first time when he saw Guthrum use his magic on something. It was the first time when he had seen magic, though. His first time was yesterday when the city was reseted, but he was too confused to realize what it truly was, before Guthrum explained it to him after he encountered him.
"Are you sure we won't be bothered in this place, lad?" The floating book asked Y/N, floating his way towards him. The normal citizens may not be able to spot them in this place when they'll be spending time in this place, because of him being who he is and because of Y/N owning a robe now, but he still preferred to remain unbothered when he'll be training his new user, "A lot of people are passing by this place. One of them may end up entering this building at some point."
"I am." Y/N nodded in confirmation, looking around the warehouse he had taken Grimoire Guthrum to, "This warehouse was abandoned for a long time. Not a lot of people step into it these days."
"How do you know about this?" Grimoire Guthrum wanted to be sure as he was nearing his new user.
"I have lived in this city for the last few years, Guthrum." Y/N explained as Grimoire Guthrum stopped in front of him, "I had enough time to notice it."
"Very well." Y/N's answer was enough for Grimoire Guthrum. He looked down at the robe he was holding in his magic, as if he was gesturing towards it, "Take your robe, lad. I did everything I intended to do to it."
Y/N nodded his head and took his robe from Grimoire Guthrum and eyed it, trying to spot any changes in it, but he couldn't find any, "Why did you want me to give it to you after we entered this place? You didn't change anything it." He pointed out as he once again eyed the robe he was holding right now in his right hand, "It looks exactly the same as it did when we bought it."
"I had to do some improvements on it." Grimoire Guthrum explained, "You won't be visible to normal citizens when you'll be wearing it, now."
Y/N was about to respond to Guthrum's words, but his words died in his throat when another questioned popped into his mind, "If we both of us won't be visible to normal citizens now, then, why did you want me to take you to a place where we won't be bothered by anyone?"
"Because I still prefer to train you in a place where we'll be unbothered by people, no matter if it will be a magic user, or someone who has no knowledge of it when I'll be training you." Grimoire Guthrum explained.
"Point taken." Y/N nodded in understanding, before pointing at his robe with his left hand, "Should I put it on myself?"
"Yes." Grimoire Guthrum answered, "We will begin your training as soon as you will have it on yourself."
Y/N nodded his head and began to put his robe on himself shorty after. He ended up putting it on himself a moments later. He put his hood on and looked down at himself, eyeing himself in his robes. He looked up at Guthrum a second later, telling him that he was ready without saying any words to him.
"Make sure to keep your eyes open now, lad." Grimoire Guthrum announced right after Y/N confirmed to him that he was ready, now wearing his robe. He started floating away from his new user, distancing himself from him, "I'll be presenting you all the spells I am capable of doing. Make sure to observe them carefully, since you will be learning them from me in the near future."
Y/N nodded in understanding, "Got it."
Grimoire Guthrum stopped a few meters away from Y/N, in the distance in which he was sure that his new user will not be in the range of his spells. He opened himself and began flipping through his pages as Y/N observed carefully each spell that was shown to him, making a mental notes of how they looked like in person, instead of just explanation of how they looked and worked like from Guthrum.
The first spell that was shown to him was Dark Blast. A red projectile which looked like a ball bursted out from opened Guthrum and began flying forward itself. Y/N observed how the magic projectile continued to fly forward itself, until it disappeared the moment it collided with the wall in front of it, leaving nothing of itself but a red mark on the wall, which faded away from the wall a few seconds later.
The second spell which was shown to him by Grimoire Guthrum was Dark Lance. One red lance formed behind Grimoire Guthrum, which was followed by the second lance forming next to the first one, and another one, and another one. Guthrum stopped forming lances until eight of them were floating behind him, which if Y/N remembered correctly was the maximum amount of lances a person or a book in this case, capable of doing was able to create after mastering this spell. The eight lances floated behind Guthrum for a few seconds before the floating book send them flying forward. The lances flied forward themselves, one by one, destroying some large old crate which happened to be standing in their way. The lances, all eight of them, disappeared from Y/N's view the moment they collided with the crate.
The third spell which was presented to the new user of Grimoire Guthrum was Dark Whirlwind. A blade formed around Grimoire Guthrum and began spinning itself around the floating book shorty after it was formed. Grimoire Guthrum floated a few inches forward as the blade continued to spin around him, as if it was protecting him from invisible opponents. The blade disappered shorty after which ended the presentation of this spell to Y/N.
Another spell which was shown to Y/N was Dark Phantasm. Grimoire Guthrum made his way to the area of the warehouse which had a few old crates standing close to each other. Y/N watched how a giant ring formed around Grimoire Guthrum and the crates, spreading further and further around the area the floating book was in. It wasn't long before the dark copies of Grimoire Guthrum popped into the existance and hit the crates surroundings him, ending the presentation of this spell.
The fifth spell which Grimoire Guthrum showed to his new user was Dark Execution. He distanced himself from Y/N, making sure his new user won't be harmed by this spell. He looked down at the floor once he was in a safe distance from Y/N and a line of magical spears shot up from the floor ahead of the floating book shorty after. It wasn't long before another line of spears shot up from the floor, this time on Guthrum's right. Normally the process of forming more lines would be faster than it was right now, but Guthrum made it slower, allowing his user to pay a better attention to it. It was just a matter of seconds before the entire area surrounding Guthrum was filled with dozens magical spears, all of them sticking out from the floor.
The sixth spell which Y/N got the change to witness was Dark Wall. A red shield formed in front of Grimoire Guthrum who made his way towards Y/N as soon as it formed in front of him. He asked his new user to swung his fist at the shield and Y/N complied. He swung his fist at the red shield in front of the floating book. He clenched his teeth as his fist was stopped by the shield. At least he now knew the shield wasn't capable of stopping magic only. It was capable of stopping any form of the attacks.
The last spell which was presented to him by Grimoire Guthrum was Dark Hand. A large black hand slowly formed behind Guthrum, which was followed by another one appeared. It was just a matter of time, before five hands were floating behind Grimoire Guthrum. All of five of them clenched into a fist, ready to be used on the opponent of the person that just created them. The floating book wasted no time and continued his presentation of this spell by swinging the hands forward at the invisible opponent, one by one.
The only spell that Grimoire Guthrum couldn't really show to his new user was Dark Gluttony, because he didn't have everything he needed to present this spell to his new user. The only one thing he lack to present it being magic that wasn't his. He needed the magic of someone else send his way if he wanted to show this spell to Y/N.
"That was the last one I could show, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said right after he finished his presentation, turning around to look at Y/N, noticing his awe filled expression, "I wish I could show you Dark Gluttony, like I did with the other spells, but I don't have the resources I require to show it properly to you."
Y/N continued to stare at Grimoire Guthrum in awe, because of what he has just witnessed, thanks to him, "What do you need to show me this spell?"
"Magic of someone else." Grimoire Guthrum replied, "I can't repel my own magic."
"Alright." Y/N nodded in understanding, "If you can't show it to me now, then I'll wait for the opportunity to see this spell do it's work."
"What do you think about my presentation, lad?" Grimoire Guthrum questioned as he was glad to hear his new user understanding why he wasn't able to show each spell to him, clearly proud of the presentation of his other spells that he just made for his new user, "From your expression I can see you that you clearly enjoyed the display."
"Can you blame me?" Y/N asked as if it was the most obvious question in history, "Yesterday I thought magic was nothing but fiction, and now I got the chance to witness it with my own eyes, without being too confused about everything happening around me to admire it."
"Did you paid attention to everything I like asked you to or were you too busy admiring my magic?" Grimoire Guthrum wanted to know if his new user paid attention to all the spells which he has just showed him. When Y/N nodded his head in confirmation, he said, "Very well. With this being done, we can at last start your training."
"Okay. Which spell are we going to start from? Dark Blast?" Y/N asked Guthrum from which spells they were going to start his training from, "I remember you mentioning it will be the best to start one to start from your spells back in my house yesterday."
"No. We won't be starting with it." Grimoire Guthrum replied, "We won't be starting any of my spells today."
"What?" Y/N asked him another question, sounding to be rather suprised to hear it.
"We won't be starting any of my spells today. At first we have to take care of some basics, things every magic user has to know how to do." Grimoire Guthrum explained, "What kind of a teacher would I be if I immediately started with my spells, without teaching you the basics? I would probably start teaching them you right away if you were a magic user before encountering me."
"Make sense. I need to start from the basics if I want to learn your spells." Y/N admitted that Guthrum was right about it, before a curious expression formed on his facial features, "What about your former users? Were they someone who used magic before they became your users, or were they someone like me, who had to start from the basics?"
Grimoire Guthrum let out a sigh as his missing memory once again showed itself. He couldn't hide it forever. He had to share the truth about his missing memory with his user, "...To be honest, lad, I don't really know."
"You don't know?" Y/N asked, confusion evident in his voice.
"My memory is filled with blanks." Grimoire Guthrum explained, "I can't seem to remember a good portion of my life. I can't remember most of things that happened to me in my past life to be exact. No matter how much I'll try to remember them. I tried to remember them last night when you were asleep and nothing came to my mind."
"How much do you remember about your past life?" Y/N asked, "Other than your spells or everything you told me about yesterday?"
"Not much." Grimoire Guthrum replied, "I can't even remember how old I really am or I came to existance or for how long I was asleep before I was awakened yesterday."
Y/N looked at Guthrum with pity in his eyes. He couldn't imagine how hard it must have been for the people who were struggling to remember parts of their own life. He placed his hand on his chin, trying to figure out why Guthrum couldn't remember a lot of his life, "...Maybe this is just a side effect of you waking up from your sleep? Perharps your memory will return to you in the near future."
"I hope you're right, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said, "The feeling of not knowing anything your past, except for the few things such a spells you're capable of doing is not a pleasant one."
"Yeah." Y/N nodded his head to that, "I can only imagine how unpleasant of a feeling this must be."
"Let's stop talking about this topic for now, lad." Grimoire Guthrum said as he didn't want to talk about it right now. He had something else to take care of at the moment, "This is not the time to discuss it. We have something else to take care of right now."
"Alright." Y/N nodded his head, "Don't be nervous to speak about it to me, though. Maybe together we'll find a way to recover your memory."
Grimoire Guthrum moved up and down, feeling a pleasant feeling going through him when the boy he was about to start teaching magic told him that he was willing to help him regain his memories, but decided not to show it in his voice, "I'll make sure to remember it, lad, but let's don't talk about it now and focus on your training. We already spend a lot of time taking care of the other things today."
Y/N nodded his head at Guthrum's words, "What do you want me to do?"
"Try to jump." Grimoire Guthrum simply said.
"What?" Y/N asked as he wasn't excepting to hear such a simple command from him.
"Try to jump." The floating book repeated himself, "You'll see why I wanted you to do it once you'll do it." Y/N nodded his head and jumped a few inches into the air, but nothing happened. He remained where he stood, "Not like that, lad. Jump like you're going to fly through the ceiling."
Y/N nodded his head in understanding and took a few steps backwards. He crouched down, taking the stance of someone who was about to participate in a race. He pushed himself into run and leaped himself into the air a second later, closing his eyes as he did so. He opened his eyes a second later and felt how they widened in pure shock. He found himself a few meters above the floor. He actually jumped so high that his head almost hit the ceiling. He glanced down and started falling down the moment he set his eyes on the floor. He readied himself for the landing, wanting to make it as painless as possible.
He landed on the floor a few seconds later, feeling a tiny bit of pain going through his body the moment his feet collided with the floor. He clenched his teeth and began jogging in place, waiting for this tiny bit of pain to go away.
He looked up at Guthrum once he felt how tiny bit of pain he felt left his body after landing on the floor, wanting to know how he was capable of doing such a thing, "What happened, Guthrum? How am I capable of jumping so high?"
"Your robe makes you lighter. It makes you as light as a feather of a bird." Grimoire Guthrum explained, "You'd even be able to carry someone else wearing a robe without any problem if you'd try to carry someone in your arms. Don't worry about the pain. You will stop feeling it after a few attempts."
"Good to know." Y/N nodded his head to that. At least he won't have to deal with the pain everytime when he will land on the ground, "What now? Are we going to repeat what I just did or are we going to move towards something else?"
"We will move towards something else." Grimoire Guthrum responded, "Jumping high into the air was the easiest part of the basics. Now we will move onto something harder. Try to summon your broom."
"My broom?" Y/N wanted to be sure if he didn't misheard it.
"It is stored within your robe." Grimoire Guthrum replied, causing Y/N to look down at his robe, "Hold out your right hand and snap your writs. It should appear in your hand right after you will snap it."
"Okay." Y/N nodded as he held his right hand out. He set eyes on it and turned his wrist around, excepting to see a broom appear in his right hand, but nothing appeared in it. He tried to do it a few more times, but without success. Not a single broom appeared anywhere in his sight.
"It's hard to get the hang of it at first." Grimoire Guthrum explained once he saw how his user tried to summon his broom a few times, without success, "Hardly anyone manages to summon their broom on the first try. Try again."
Y/N nodded his head in understanding as he had his gaze set on his right hand. He turned his wrist around for another time, knowing that it was just a start of his magic training.
----
Here we go with another chapter! At least this time I wasn't suprised with the lenght of this chapter as I was excepting it to be quite a long one.
Y/N has officialy begun his journey to become a warlock with Grimoire Guthrum being his tutor and Kazane has begun searching for the person who is currently in possession of an old magical book, assigning the five witches who watch over the city to keep their eyes open for any clues.
Imagine that Y/N's robe looks like the clothes Dettlaff Van Der Eretein from the Witcher's 3 Blood and Wine Expansion wears. There's one small change, though. Y/N's version has a hood. I'm sorry that you learn it from A/N. I tried to describe it, but I couldn't think of a nice description of it. I tried to write it a few times and I always ended up erasing it.
We even got a brief appearence from the canon characters such as Ayaka, Honoka and Tanpopo and her crew, with the former two even getting their own section. The next chapter will take place a few days later and except some interaction between Y/N and canon characters in it!
