The Frozen Heart

I made it to the northern continent. While I swam here, I got the remaining blackjaws needed for the shark teeth evolution. I also got more dust and materials from another wreck. I can also eat raw things must be because of my unique anatomy.

Y/n: Well I should have expected it to be butt fucking cold. Well, at least I have the cloak. The cold winds won't hurt, I suppose.

Screen: Evolution quest stay out in extreme cold for 24 hours. Rewards cold resistance mutation, 10000 exp.

Evolution quest stay in extreme heat for 24 hours. Rewards fire resistance mutation, 10000 exp.

Y/n: So my options are either freeze for 24 hours and never again or get clothing meant for extreme weather. I'll take the 24 hours. Hopefully, I don't have to be close to naked for this.

I continue to explore the continent, finding a snow-covered clearing. I decided to stop here for the moment. I scan my surroundings for a moment and see a glow in the distance. I decided to check it out since it's from my title. Once there, I clear the snow and reveal levers. I pulled the left one, and the ground ahead of me opened, revealing a bunch of Grimm.

Boarbatusk

Lvl 17

Ursa major

Lvl 39

It was a pit full of Grimm, just the two types. About 50 total Grimm crammed in there. My guess is there's 25 each.

Screen: Ursa majors count 5 times as normal. You also found a White Fang device used to attack Schnee dust company mining facilities. Some of these devices were never activated. Maybe if you kill the Grimm inside, you'll impress someone who finds using Grimm for their goals barbaric.

Y/n: Well, I'm nowhere strong enough to kill all of them by myself. So the left opens it, and the right must bring the platform up since the walls are metallic slick.

I hit the left lever again, closing the hatch and hitting the right lever and heard the platform rising soon, crushing the Grimm.

Screen: Earned 17632 exp, 100000 lien, 6 roulette spin, 124 Grimm bone fragments.

After I confirmed my selection, I started feeling intense pain as bones snapped and broke as I got taller, stronger, and more muscular. I activated my aura to try something despite the pain.

Screen: Due to the intensity of the pain you're feeling right now, you've earned a skill. Pain tolerance lvl 4/20

After what felt like an eternity, I opened my eyes to see another screen.

Screen: Aura healing lvl 7. Your quick thinking helped in the process and leveled up the corresponding skill. +1 int.

I got up off the snow as I examined myself taking the cloak off temporarily.

Y/n: Huh, I look like I grew a foot and look like I work out at a gym to stay in shape. At least I don't look like one of those big muscle heads that look like they live at the gym.

I put the cloak back on and test out my theory. I activate the evolution and flex, sending out multiple spikes. I sat there, pleased waiting for some skill but nothing. I deactivated it and continued to wander, hoping to find something.

Y/n: Let's hope I can find a... what was it white fang... base and see if they have a map of all the traps.

Timeskip

I just hit hour 11 of 24 hours of extreme cold. I finally see something in the distance besides snow and snow-covered trees. It looked like a campsite with multiple tents and a weird flag of a red wolf on a white background. I sneak up to the place using the cloak's ability and get next to a large outer tent.

???: Alright, we'll be attacking this mine and freeing the slaves there. After we get as many of them out, we release the Grimm traps that should get attracted to the panic at the mine.

Screen: New quest: Underground Railroad

Slavery appears to be in full swing still in Atlas. Why don't you try and fix that.

Get the map 0/1

Rewards: map of mines and Grimm traps, scroll (basically a phone)

Free at least 2 mines 0/2

Optional record the slavery

Optional free all five mines on the map 0/5

Rewards 1 roulette spin, 700 exp, 2 skill books (optional rewards), 5 roulette spins, morality menu, 500 exp, free skill purchase from the shop

???: Understood.

I turn the corner, still hidden in shadows, and see a large group of people wearing masks. There are also a lot of torches and lanterns.

Y/n: (thoughts) Snow is just frozen water. So if I...

I grab some snow and try and heat it up to get water. Which worked, and I got some water. I use the water manipulation skill and make it hover over my hand, and I send out just enough to put out the torch.

Screen: Water manipulation lvl 4/25

Water bomb lvl 1/5

A great way to put out fires. 20 Mana per bomb. Reduces Mana required by 4 per lvl.

Water bullet lvl 1/10 Mana per shot 10

Water infused with Mana that resembles a bullet won't do as much damage as an actual bullet. Lvl determines damage, and Mana requirements are reduced by 1 per level.

I continue to stealthily put out the torches around the tent and snuck in seeing a single guy. I silently get behind him and get him into a hold as I let my claws out in a threatening manner.

Y/n: Scream, and I slit your throat. Don't, and I'll just put you to sleep.

He clearly got the message and accepted it as I continued the choke hold and put him to sleep. I look around as I grab the map off the table, seeing crates of things, weapons, and some of their uniforms.

Y/n: It's probably best to just grab the map.

I sneak back out and get far enough away before I look at the map through the interface, seeing all the mines and the many traps laid throughout the frozen lands.

Y/n: So that... (Points at a mark that has an arrow pointing towards it) is the mine they plan to attack. So, to minimize the number of people dying, I should kill the Grimm in the surrounding traps. It would be nice to know what's in the traps.

I start making my way to the closest trap, taking a good half hour on foot.

Y/n: Hmmmm, check or kill. Kill.

I hit the lever, making the platform rise up crushing the Grimm inside.

(But give it the spikes from this armor)

Y/n: Nice. I wonder what the spikes would do to it.

The armor grows spikes all over its back like the Ursa majors, and smaller spikes grow on the shoulders and arms. I turn it off and put the cloak back on and make my way to the following trap.

I reached hour 13 as I neared the mine, seeing a decently sized group of people guarding the place. I used Observe on them.

Screen: Observe has been reworked now. Instead of leveling it up, you just need to be with a certain level range of the target or higher.

Schnee Dust Company guard
Lvl 25

About all of them average to around 25, which isn't too bad. They also had various stats, too. The mine entrance has two towers next to it and very little cover around the place.

Y/n: I should probably distribute my points.

Y/n: Alright, how should I approach this. Hmm, let's try something.

I try to manipulate the snow on top of the towers, trying to push it through the roof. After a few minutes of trying, both roofs of the towers collapse on top of the guards stationed there and got everyone's attention towards the sound. I quickly ran towards the fartherest guard and hit them as hard as I could on the head and knocked him out. I ran to the last two outside and hit their heads together, knocking them out.

Screen: Skill unlocked Ice manipulation lvl 1/25

I enter the mine as I pull out the scroll I got from collecting the map and found my way on it to the camera, and started recording. Once I was further in, I saw people in chains with animal ears or tails with pickaxes mining crystal in the wall.

Sdcg: Get back to work, you worthless animal. *crack*

I look over and see a guard with a whip. I decided screw stealth and activated my bone armor and knocked him out with a plated fist. Everyone turned and saw me, and I started feeling their fear.

Faunus: A Grimm.

Y/n: Well, yes and no.

I walk over and stab a sword, I pulled out of my inventory into the opening of the chain, breaking it.

Screen: Negative emotion detection lvl 2/20

Y/n: If you know where the keys are, go and get them, or I'll be here for a while.

He hurried off and returned with a set of keys.

Y/n: Go to the other end, and we'll meet in the middle.

Faunus: But the guards?

Y/n: They're out cold.

Mini timeskip

I led all of them out and was out in the middle of nowhere going to the outpost. I was basically guarding them from dangerous guards.

Y/n: Okay, past these trees is a white fang outpost they'll should take care of you.

Faunus: T-thanks wasn't e-expecting a friendly G-Grimm.

Y/n: Well, I got more traps and mines to free.

Timeskip past the remaining 4 mines with 4 Grimm traps each. Just think of assassin's creed origins camps.

Y/n: That passive is so helpful that I feel warm in this frozen clearing. Alright, let's go ahead and use 10 of my spins for an 11 spin Roulette.

A screen appeared in front of me and showed an image of a roulette wheel spinning with a total of 11 balls going around. Only four turned golden as they went around soon, finding a spot on the roulette.

(I spun this crap on a wheel. I don't understand the luck he got, but I can't question Lady Luck. I wish I had this luck in a gacha game or super snail.)

Screen: Mysterious egg, Cayde's throwing knives, 1000 lien, Dawnbreaker, Fusion, 4000 lien, True Fatalis sword, 2500 lien, Donner, Schlag, captain Jack sparrow's compass.

Mysterious egg: keep it warm, and it'll hatch. Note Observe will not work on it to see what will hatch.

Cayde's throwing knives: rarity legendary weapon. A special knife holster that holds what seems like an infinite amount of explosive knives.

Dawnbreaker: rarity unique rare a weapon that does fire damage and increased damage towards undead.

Fusion skill: Can combine weapons to make a stronger weapon. If the rarity is too great, the weapon will get weaker or stay the same in most regards.

True Fatalis sword: rarity epic. A blade made with the scales of a legendary dragon. Can have a chance to seal abilities.

Donner and schlag: rarity legendary six shot handcannons. Made by a great and strong man who knows the best about technology, best paired with lightning dust for the strongest shots that surpass anti tank rounds.

Captain Jack sparrow's compass: Rarity rare compass upgrade. Upgrades the compass to show the direction of objectives and what you want to find.

Y/n: Let's try fusion.

I grab Donner and schlag, wanting it as the base as I grab Dawnbreaker and True Fatalis sword and roll the dice with fusion. A bright light engulfs the weapons as only the two handcannons remain altered to where there were blades, add under the barrel.

Screen: Created True Firestorm Donner and Schlag. Legendary rarity. The perfect set of unique and epic weapons used to perfect these hand guns, making them viable for bladed combat with a bladed mode to lengthen the blades, lightning, and fire dust work to bring out the full potential of each shot but it no longer surpasses anti tank rounds. Each shot/hit has a chance to seal abilities temporarily, and the firepower is subpar compared to anti tank rounds.

I should probably distribute my points again.

Y/n: Alright store.

The screen appeared and filtered it towards skills as I looked through seeing skills that seemed useful, but nothing jumped out until I saw something useful now. Unseen lunge max level 10 move at high speeds to reach your enemy. After that, I used the two skill books I had receiving the skills from them.

Screen: Blacksmithing level 1/100

Use this skill to maintain your weapons and armor or make new ones. Certain ones require special materials to make.

Screen: Shadow tendrils level 1/25

Make the shadows your weapon in the form of tendrils that can tie up enemies or slash them. Requires casting focus or can be set as your semblance. 5 Mana per second.

Screen: Warning setting skills as a semblance will take Aura instead of magic. You can only have one semblance, so choose wisely.

Y/n: Eh, why not let's set it as my semblance.

I look out around the horizon, thinking of finding the capital here. I kept the egg in my inventory for now because of how cold it is. While I was thinking a translucent line and compass appeared in front of me, pointing in a direction.

Y/n: I guess that's the compass. I'm guess the orange dot on the compass is the direction Beacon is or at least how I'd join it.

I start following the course it gave me.

Timeskip

I come over a ridge to see two cities, one flying above the other.

Y/n: I feel like I need something to get inside either city. I guess some kind of identification. Let's see if the shop has anything.

I scroll through the shop's miscellaneous category, finding nothing that looks or even would work as an ID. I approach nonetheless, hoping I already have the required item.

Guard: Scroll, please.

Y/n: Oh, here.

I hand him the scroll as he scans it with a machine.

Guard: Oh, it appears you're expected in Atlas for a special performance, Mr. Rieper.

Screen: Quest: Light up the dance floor.

Due to plot relevance and the scroll that was given to you. You have a job that requires you in Atlas.

Arrive at the venue and put on a great show.

Rewards: Access to Atlas, Beacon Transcripts.

I buy an electronic mask and keep it in my inventory in case I'm asked to take my hood off.

Guard: A bullhead will be here to pick you up shortly.

Timeskip to the venue

While I was setting things up with the people at the venue, which was a bright yellow room that was filled with tables and chairs. While I was setting things up, I bumped into someone. I looked and saw a 17 year old dressed in a lot of white. I slightly bow since the place and her give off rich vibes.

White: Watch it.

Y/n: Oh, I'm sorry about that, miss.

Weiss: Weiss Schnee heiress to the Schnee dust company.

Y/n: Hmmm.

Weiss: What?

Y/n: You have this air about you. Like you like to sing but... you don't... want to be forced to sing.

Weiss: Like you know anything about me.

Y/n: Eh. I could be wrong. I still need to finish this. Have a good day, Ms. Schnee.

(I was trying to think of multiple songs, but none really worked with the current setting I just set up, so there will be a timeskip)

Y/n: So the event was for a Schnee Dust Company business partner. Well, I don't know what to really make of them, but I'm still in a singing mood, so while I explore Atlas, I'll just sing.

I look behind me, seeing nothing but having a feeling I was being followed for a moment.

(Boulevard of broken dreams, strong for somebody else, legends never die)

Screen: Weiss Schnee: Acquaintance > Interested.
