Chapter One: Split up
"Mama! Papa! Look out!" I screamed as I tried to hoist up my twin brother Roy, who was holding both our 9 year old brother Richard and our 5 year old baby brother Daniel tightly to his chest. But it was too late for our parents. They landed with a sickening splat on the ground far below us.
"Jake-Jake help! I'm loosing my grip on Roy!" I screamed as I about toppled over the edge of the traipse platform.
"Hold on I got you!" My 16 year old half brother, Jacob yelled over the chaos of the crowd far below us. After we were all safe, Jacob carried us down to the ground below.
A few hours later, much to my objection, our 12 year old sister Jasmine, along with Daniel, were shipped to an orphanage somewhere in Illinois. Jacob was shipped back to Forks were we were born, to live with his biological papa. Roy, Richard and I sat in the courtyard of Gotham City's courthouse.
That's when I saw him walk across the courtyard towards us. Roy, who had always been my partner in crime when it came to protecting our younger siblings, hid behind me along with Richard. I held both Richard and Roy's hands trying to help them feel a little more safe.
I glared at the man approaching us and screamed, "Who are you?! You better not be here to take my brothers from me or I'll beat you up!"
The man stopped about a yard or two from us and chuckled. I rolled my eyes not seeing what he found so funny about my threat. It was then another man came running out into the courtyard.
"Master Bruce! They've approved your offer!" The second man shouted to the first.
"Thank you Alfred. I just found the kids hiding out here. I think I scared the boys a bit because their sister is threatening to beat me," the first man, who I assumed was Bruce, said with another chuckle. Bruce approached my brothers and I yet again, earning him a kick in the shin with my high heel shoes that I only wore for special occasions.
"Ouch! Oof you weren't kidding around when you told me to stay back huh?" Bruce said with yet another chuckle.
"Him and his stupid chuckling," I thought to myself. It was really starting to tick me off. I glared at him to make sure he understood that it was ticking me off. Though as my luck would have it, my glare only made his chuckle turn into gut busting laughter.
Ticked off even more thanks to his laughter, I started chasing after Bruce with a large stick I found. After a while of me chasing after Bruce and falling from doing so, Alfred cleared his throat to catch my attention. With a soft smile, Alfred began explaining why Bruce was at the courthouse and how it involved us.
Once Alfred finished explaining I noticed Richard was cautiously crawling closer to Bruce. Bruce noticed him too and smiled. Richard, being his shy shelf, lunged into my lap making me giggle. I hummed and ran my finger through his short raven colored hair trying to help him relax.
Looking up at Bruce with a weak smile I said, "Sorry. Dick is rather shy. Roy and I are always trying to help him with that but we know we can't force him to change."
With a gentle smile and nod Bruce replied, "that's understandable. I just hope you all will find me to be a good friend. Maybe even a good father too one day."
I nodded. Knowing the fact we were adopted by business billionaire Bruce Wayne was a tad bit intimidating. Even to me and my, "I'll kick your ass to the moon, back and straight into next week if you hurt my siblings" attitude. I prayed that one day Jacob, Roy, Jazz, Dick, Danny and I could all be reunited again one day. Even if it was only for a couple hours or a day, just knowing that we were all doing well would let me sleep in peace.
