|Letter|

I discovered that what caught my attention was an envelope. It seemed rather old and was yellowing at the sides. Strange, there is no name or address written on it. I wonder how it got here.

My sole attention was on the envelope and I was curious to find out what it contained when a cat leaped into my lap. I shrieked. A frightened Mrs. Jennings ran from her room to the library. The cat got down from my lap and stood near her feet."Oh God Tommy! You scared poor Miss Wilkins! Don't you ever do it again? I am so sorry Melissa dear, Tommy is not usually like this, I will take him away. You better rest now it's almost midnight."

Thank God! Mrs. Jennings saved me from that cat. I mean I don't hate animals but it was so sudden. I breathed in relief. I guess she was right. I yawned and my eyes were fighting to stay open. I picked up the envelope, kept the book on the shelf and headed to my room for a much-needed sleep.

The next day I woke up early to read the letter. To my surprise, it was written by my grandma to me. I never thought that she had left anything other than the house. This letter would always be close to my heart and it would be a reminder of the woman I admired and looked up to. Slowly I opened the letter and began to read.

Dear Melissa,

The apple of my eye and my best friend. I am grieved to leave this world. Leaving behind my family and especially you. I know, that by the time you receive this letter, I would be long gone, I won't be present with you anymore.

I have always wanted you to be happy. That summer, fourteen years ago, in Somerset, that was the first time I had seen you radiate happiness. I confess, that I had been involved in the plan concocted by your parents. It was a sly trick on my part, but when I saw you, with that handsome young man and your eyes reflected love, I instantly knew that my granddaughter had found the one.

The love that you two shared reminded me of the love between your grandfather and I. We met in Monte Carlo after many years. It was love at first sight. I liked him when we were young but lost connection with him when he went to study in London. He was an ambitious man, always talking about big business plans. Even after we were married, it was hard for me to digest the fact that he actually loved me a lot. I want you to experience that kind of love.

I know you have many questions to ask. This time, you have to find your answers alone because I feel, that love is worth the risk. The waves are calling out to me. Waves crashing and merging on the shores of Monte Carlo. My only solace is that I will be reunited with your grandfather again.

I hope you find the man you love, and cherish it forever.

Goodbye, my little princess.

Your loving, grandma.

The line " You have got to find your own answer" kept repeating in my mind like a song on replay in my iPod.
I just couldn't understand why I had to find the answer to my questions.

Some questions are better left unanswered and some, need answers. I mean mother kind of hinted the same thing. This is so confusing. What are they trying to tell me?

The only thing which is running through my mind right now is the content of the letter. I feel as if they are hiding a secret from me.

Dear readers, I hope you enjoyed. To show your support comment, vote and share.
