Chapter Three

My family had decided to put aside their differences to give me one last good day before I left.

They even let me talk to mom alone, which was great, but I simply just told her about what was going on and I didn't want her to worry for me.

Though, the good day eventually had to come to an end.

We all knew it was time when a knock sounded on the door. I merely looked at my family and Carter, hugging everyone goodbye, even my shitty younger brother's.

I grabbed my things and headed to the front door where Sloth was waiting for me. I couldn't bear to look back as I followed him out.

His car was a very simple looking one and he too my things from me to put them in the trunk.

"Sit up front, I'll be a minute." I nodded and got in the passenger seat, buckling myself in. He was right, it only took him a minute.

The place he took me was some sort of mansion with.... sixteen stories???? It was a palace! Granted, it seemed it was designed to be like a hotel, with two floors for each sin and a common area. I guess.

It was secluded, a mile away from the rest of the world, surrounded by trees, and overlooking a large lake, sitting on a cliffs edge.

We both grabbed my things and headed inside.

"You'll be staying on my floor since I have the most restraint out of the rest of them."

"Got it, I guess."

The main area was big. Though, judging from the interior, I assumed the whole place was a remodeled hotel. Still, the large sitting room with color coded couches and the huge dining area was all a bit crazy.

Sloth walked us over to an elevator, pulling out a key.

Guess they made it so each sin would need permission to go to another floor.

That's fair. There were a few elevators besides the one we were going in, probably in case they were all in a hurry.

The elevator felt like any other one, taking forever to get to a floor. Apparent Sloth is the top floor.

"Do you want to know my name Miles?" Sloth asked as they waited.

"Anything is better than using Sloth."

He chuckled softly at that, lazily leaning against the elevator wall, "Lucio."

"Lucio?"

He purred softly hearing his own name, "call me by it whenever you wish."

"Alright..."

Apparently the apartments were color coated too.

After all, as soon as the doors opened, all I saw was blue. It was a deep blue too, sort of relaxing to be in. Then I saw the view.

I drifted my way to the window and looked out, seeing gentle waves from the lake below, trees spread out as far as the eye could see.

It was gorgeous.

"Gorgeous view," I whispered.

Lucio shrugged casually, "you can thank old greed for that. He always wants the best of the best."

I glanced at Lucio, who was staring out the window himself, sunlight perfectly illuminating him. His lazy eyes were alive with an emotion I couldn't quite place.

Alright, maybe staying here wouldn't be all that bad.

"You are free to visit the other floors, I left a master card in your room, feel free to roam."

"So, let me get this straight," I started, "I'm basically just going to be pampered for a year as you all try to figure out something I have no idea about, all while my family and myself are taken care of?"

"Basically."

"Why?"

Lucio stalked forward, moving himself in front of me, "We shouldn't have been able to sense you. for your mother to even go as far as to shield you? Can't help that my brother's and I got curious about you."

I didn't have a reply to that, so I simply sidestepped away from him. He let me do it.

"Your room is upstairs. The one farthest from the stairs."

"Why is it the farthest from the stairs?"

"Best view. Thought you might like it."

Turns put, I did like it.

When i went up to check it out, I found it wasn't too big, but spacey enough for me to move around in a way that get comfortable, with a large window at the back wall overlooking the water as well.

Upon closer inspection, it had a glass door. My room had a fucking balcony.

It almost felt like they wanted to keep me forever.

It was sad how pleasant that thought was.

Lucio has retreated to his own room, letting. Me alone. My first thought was to take a video to send to my family.

I pressed record, "I think I'll have an okay time here. Look at my room! What is this?!?!" The entire video was him goofing around, but showing his family he was safe and they shouldn't worry."

When he sent the video though, it prompted a face time, which of course, I accepted.

"Guys, I'm fine," I insisted after seeing their worried looks.

"Are you sure?" Eric asks.

I nodded, "I'm sure. So far at least. Each sin only has a section of the house they have access to, so while I'm here, they can't get to me unless I let them."

They all visibly relaxed hearing that.

"That's good," Carter sighed in relief.

I smiled at them, before noticing them staring at something behind me, so I turn around to see Lucio, who was looking at me quizzically.

"The rest of the sins are eating dinner, so I thought I'd come grab you for that."

"Oh, Alright. Guess I'll talk to you guys later then."

"Be careful!" They all shouted, glaring Lucio's way before I disconnected..

"They really love you." He commented.

I smiled, "my younger brother's were pretty attached to me when my mom was alive, Guess with what's happened, they're willing to not be assholes for my sake. The others though, they have always been very kind to me."

"I'm guessing you've always attracted others to you?"

"Sorta. Mostly men. When my mom died, the amount of women in my life significantly dropped."

"So the world wants you gay?"

I laughed, shaking my head, "maybe. But I'm not."

"Shame," Lucio commented, his gaze flickering up and down my body.

I simply smiled at him, "so, dinner?"

"Ah," He said lazily, glancing at my eyes, "right. Dinner is on the main floor."

"Mmmmhm."
