Chapter One

My life was surrounded by sins.

Everyone was a sinner.

Not by my own branding, but by other people's branding.

Despite this, I've managed to live my life to the fullest.

Which is sad, considering I was twenty one and still living with my parents.

Well....

I was moving out.

"Miles, you're spacing out." I flinched as someone snapped in front of my face.

Well, that 'someone' was actually my best friend Carter, who I'd known for all my life.

"What? Was I?" I said slowly, "sorry."

He shrugged, smiling his cute little freckles smile. "I'll just repeat what I said then." His ocean eyes lit up in amusement. "So, apparently, the sins have all appeared in town."

"What?"

"Right?" He shouted, "the deadly sins! You think they're here for something?"

I shook my head, rolling my eyes, "it's probably them passing by. Anyways, are you staying over?"

"Obviously, your dad makes the greatest brownies."

"He does, doesn't he?"

Carter linked our arms and we started walking. A car would be great but I left it at home. Why? Because I only planned to run around the corner.

"So, you excited to graduate this year?"

I smiled sheepishly, "yeah. Adulting is terrifying though."

"You seem to be doing good so far," he praised. "I don't doubt you'll be fine."

"Thanks for that."

My home was a very modest looking building. My dad preferred it that way. Honestly, so did I. Basically just a modest two story with enough bedrooms and bathrooms for the family and a quaint little backyard with a white picket fence.

I knew the door was unlocked and walked inside, Carter in tow.

"I'm home! Brought Carter with me!"

I heard my father cooking in the kitchen and the pair of us followed our noses there.

My father and I had one thing in common, our eyes. We had the same golden eyes. Other than that, we were quite different. He was a tanner guy, with soft, coffee brown skin, jet black hair and a toned body. It was easy to see why people fell for him.

He smiled at Carter and I as we walked in, "welcome back boys. Eric and eye are finishing dinner, so we should be done soon."

Eric was my uncle, my moms brother. My mom and him were twins and I looked just like both of them, just slightly tanner.

I had almost platinum blonde hair and splayed freckles on my face. Eric was toned like my father, while I was a lean machine. His eyes were blue.

Carter actually looked more like my dad than I did, with green eyes instead of gold.

"Oh, welcome home boys!" We glanced towards Eric who had entered the room, Probably coming back from the bathroom.

"Hi uncle Eric!" The two of us greeted. He smiled warmly and went over to my dad, kissing his cheek. My dad smiled shyly at the affection.

"We'll go wash up, just call us down for dinner."

"We will!"

My room was the closest to the stairs and this, we both avoided my younger brother's.

Assholes.

Carter and I washed our hands in the bathroom before going to my bed and sitting on it, cross legged like nerds.

"Sooo," carter hummed, "When are Uncle Eric and your dad getting married?"

I snorted a laugh, "you keep asking that, they just got together two years ago."

"Well, both of them need someone, and they obviously love each other."

I nodded slowly, leaning back on my palms, "they're not going to rush things."

"Two years is rushing things?"

I jokingly shoved him and he shoved me back.

"It is for my dad, you know that," I reminded, causing us both to sag a bit.

"Has it really been six years?" He whispered.

I nodded slowly, leaning back again, "tomorrow marks the day. I still miss her."

"I think everyone does."

We tried to take our mind off the sadness by playing video games.

And we managed to make ourselves happier, then we were all called down for dinner.

A disaster was waiting to happen.

We rushed downstairs to the dinning room where Eric was setting the table. My dad was pouring drinks and my brother's were seated, glaring daggers at the table.

Carter and I exchanged glances as we sat down.

When food was served, carter decided to get a conversation going, "did you hear the seven sins are in town?"

"That so?" Eric hummed, "that's strange. They hate being together."

"Right? You think they're here for something?"

I chuckled, "like what? I told you, it's probably just a coincidence."

"I'm afraid I have to agree with Miles, it's unlikely they came here for a specific purpose." My father agreed with a hum.

Carter shrugged, "well, if they were here for something, what do you even think it would be?"

Eric shrugged himself, "honestly, anything. They're an illusion group."

"That being said, how are you two doing. Last year of college after all."

"It's all great! My professors tell me that they'd be willing to be my professional references when I apply to jobs."

"You are a lot smarter than me, so it doesn't surprise me that they're so willing to help you," carter teased.

I simply smiled and rolled my eyes.

"God, our family is a bunch of homos," my brother's mumbled under their breaths.

"Peter! Ethan! That's no way to talk!" My father scolded.

Carter jumped in, "besides, from what I'm aware, Miles is straight."

I didn't feel the need to say anything. If I did, the whole thing would escalate.

"So?" Ethan sneered.

They were a year younger than me, and looked exactly like my dad, with my mothers eyes, which I could tell they hated.

"So? Who taught you to be so rude to people?" Eric asked coldly.

"I don't know, why did you go after your sisters husband?"

"Can-"

"So you're saying that I shouldn't be in love?"

My father jumped in, "besides, it happened years after you-"

"We don't care you fucking fags." Peter spat.

"The only reason we came back is for mom."

"Will you two stop it!" Carter shouted.

"Or what you fucking homo?" They growled out.

I couldn't take it and pushed back, the noise turning everyone's attention to me.

I got up and pushed in my chair. I didn't say anything as I walked outside, away from them.

I knew they'd let me cool off, so I sat on the front porch step, sighing in frustration.

"I think we found the place," I heard a voice say. I glanced up, my eyes snagging on a guy dressed in a green button up and black jeans.

His hair was a dark green and his eyes matched all that. His smile was wicked and he was making his comment to a man dressed in black. Black hair, black clothing, and I was guessing dark brown eyes. His skin wasn't dark though, it was a honey brown.

"Great, then I'll call he others."

They flashed a glance my way, smirks on their faces.

Their eyes followed me as I got up, staring at them in horror.

It was Envy and Pride!

I fumbled with the door behind me and fell backwards as the door opened, quickly slamming the door shut and locked it.

"Miles?" I kept stumbling back, eventually falling on my ass right in front of my family, looking at the front door in fear.

"Miles!" My father rushed to my side, "Miles what's wrong?"

"The sins... they're coming."

"What?" The others questioned at once.

"Pride and Envy, they're outside. Dad, they're coming for me."

Before anyone could say anything, a harsh knock rattled on the doorway, causing the room to fall silent.

"Open up or we'll break down the door!" The voice of Envy growled.

My body started shaking as my uncle went to the door, unlocking it, but blocking it as he cracked it open.

It wasn't much use since two two since I mentioned walked in.

Both walked by me, "I think we scared him. Oh well," pride laughed.

They went to our living room and sat themselves down on the couch.

"What are you doing here?" My father shouted at them.

Pride lazily glanced over, "we're here for him."

And like I predicted, the finger pride extended, laid pointed at me.
