Chapter Four

The only thing I could think of when it came to the sins was...

Clingy.

They stuck close to me. Or as close as they could manage to get.

It was awkward, their looks, their very not subtle touches.

"So, any girlfriend? Boyfriend?" Lust asked as I sat down, not much on my plate.

"No. Before you ask, no, I'm not gay." I did like men, but come on, this was ridiculous.

Lucio simply smirked at the obvious annoyance that played on my lips. I wasn't having their bullshit.

"Are you curious about our names?" Pride asked with a large shit eating grin on his face.

I shrugged, rolling my eyes, "more interested in dirt than learning your names if I'm being honest."

Lucio snorted a laugh, "that's harsh."

"You did pull me from the life I know to take me hostage for a year."

Collective understanding appeared in the other son's eyes. I had no reason to care about them. I didn't want to.

"So, what are you studying in college?" Lucio asked from besides me.

Took me a second to remember, "I've been studying business with a minor in psychology."

"Wouldn't have pegged you for a businessman," Gluttony commented in surprise.

"Most people don't," I said, not really caring much, "but I like it. My teachers tell me I'm really good at finance, marketing and planning,  so I'm sure I'll do fine when I graduate." I paused, "I am still allowed to go to college, right?"

Lucio clacked, "Yes," quite quickly.

"Good, That means I can hang with Carter."

"You do realize he's into you?" Lust prompted.

Rolling my eyes, I shot back, "as if you lot aren't pinning for me."

"Fair." Pride said with a intense gaze fixed on me.

It was going to be a long year.

I took charge of washing dishes when dinner was finished, simply because I was bored and didn't want to be around them.

They left me alone to do it, occasionally peeking in and saying hi, but I was lost to my own mind, a slave to concentration, humming as I  worked.

I didn't mind that I was alone. Whenever Carter wasn't at my place, I usually was alone. My brother's were assholes and my dad and Uncle were a couple. Couples spent time together, so I grew accustomed to it.

It wasn't that bad. I was really never truly alone anyways.

With the dishes finished, I washed my hands and headed back outside. The sins were sitting in the living room, a movie pulled up on the television, a large amount of space between them.

They didn't get along, did they?

I surveyed my options, and decided to sit between Lucio and Pride. considering my shuffling away from pride, it must've been clear I was already fine around Lucio.

Lucio lazily smiled at me leaning down to whisper in my ear, "they're already jealous of me."

I rolled my eyes, "what are we watching?"

"Oh, it's Derick's favorite movie at the moment." Greed informed.

"Oh? Who's Derick?"

"Pride."

I glanced over, seeing the handsome man look at me. His dark eyes were heated as they stared with intensity. My gaze flickered back to the screen.

"What's it about?"

"Just a normal action movie."

I smiled lopsidedly, "action movies are pretty fun."

"We rotate who picks the movie each time. So you'll be after me," Lucio informed.

"My taste in movies isn't most people's types," I admitted, "so I'm fine if we skip me."

"We have you for a year, might as well make you part of it all. Besides, Reyes hates most things besides romance." Lucio pointed out.

"Guessing that's Lust?"

"It is."

"I would've not assumed a name like that," I said with a chuckle. "It's normal, I thought you would all have weird names that made no sense."

Lucio rested an arm behind me, "what lies are the mortals spreading?"

"I could talk your ear off, but there's a movie to watch."

Turns out, I really liked action movies. I also learned that pr- Derek was just like me when I t came to movie viewing, making the worst jokes at the weirdest times.

It was sorta nice.

I never could joke with Carter. He would just shush me. I understood, but jokes were great.

Halfway through the movie, I felt Lucio and Derick nudge my hand with theirs from both sides of me.

I subtly moved my hands to my lap, trying to get the point across that I wasn't interested.

Even if Lucio has already worked his way under my skin. Not in a romantic sense, but I'm a... 'we could be great friends' sense.

When the movie was over, I decided to go to the kitchen and make my lunch for tomorrow.

Nothing was better than a homemade meal. Gluttony decided to see what I was doing. He didn't say anything, but watched me as I found fresh ingredients and carefully put together things that would stay fresh. Apple slices, a small salad with vinaigrette in a small separate container, a ham, cheese, tomato lettuce sandwich on whole grain bread. Just, a healthy meal.

"You cook a lot?" He asked.

I nodded, "I'm not a fan of eating out a lot, so I started making my own things back in... I think it was middle school. My mom used to help me."

"Could," he struggled, "could you teach me?"

I glanced at him, raised brows, "you want to learn how to prepare meals?"

"And cook. Healthier. Now that I'm settled down a bit, I could start creating a habit."

I smiled and finished my food, going to the cabinets. I pulled down some, "Well, let's start with how to make salad. I can teach you some easy meals when I get back tomorrow."

"Thank you."

"It's no problem....?"

"I'm Angelo."

He wasn't brash as he was before, Rome's down a bit more. Maybe it was because he was asking for help, either way, it was actually sort of cute. "Well, then why don't I help you make some salad?"

So far, living with the sins didn't seem all that bad.
