Chapter Five

Going back to school the next day was... weird, to put it simply.

Waking up was weird.

I was comfortable in a way I'd never been before. I was up before everyone too, so I made breakfast for everyone, simple French toast and eggs and set it out before grabbing my things and leaving.

I thought they'd a bit more... restrictive on the things I did, but they weren't. They were allowing me to go wherever, as long as I always came back each night.

When I arrived on campus, Carter practically tackled me, "Miles!" He exclaimed as I jokingly swatted him away.

"Carter! Is this a name game?"

He laughed at that, slinging an arm around me, "I'm just glad you're still okay."

I smiled at his worry, "I'm fine, don't worry. I know I'll have to swat away their advances, but I'll be fine."

"So, how is it?" He asked curiously.

"Pronoun game."

"How's living with the Sins. You're the first."

"So far," I started, "it's been good. They had movie night and I learned a few of their names. I promised to help Gluttony learn to cook some things. They are weird flirts, but all around seem pretty normal."

"Hard to believe they've been around for so long."

I nodded in agreement as we started our walk. We weren't in the same majors, but we still made an effort to be as close to each other as possible outside of class.

It was hard to separate us. Though, a giant wedge was shoved between us because of the sin thing, i knew we'd work through it.

"Your family is worried about you, so you should go visit when you can," Carter informed, a warm smile curving his lips.

I returned it, "I will. I missed them like crazy last night. You too."

Carter flushed a bit, but did his best to remain calm as we walked into our building for class.

"See you for lunch."

There was a small pause for a hug, "see you for lunch."

We parted and I went to my first lecture where I was greeted with a surprise. A picture of the sins and the place I was currently staying in.

It was expected since I was taking a sort of current even class, where we discussed world issues.

It was going to be hard to hide how much I know. I took my usual spot near the front after saying hi to my professor, and dropped my bag on the space in front of me, pulling what I needed out.

Professor Kennings lectures were always interesting. Today would be no different it seemed. Especially considering he normally had a news clip or article or something to go along with his lectures.

So I bid my time, writing up a report for one of my other lectures that I had later.

It didn't take long for people to flood in. I just tried not to freak out when the picture started.

"So, as we all know, there exist seven entities on our planet known as the sins," Professor Kennings started, get a murmur of acknowledgement, "they are known for their distaste of each other, but they've recently moved into our modest city and got a secluded house where all of them are staying. So, there comes the question, why?"

I had to avoid making eye contact because I knew the answer of why.

"Why now of all times, all the sudden? It's simply just absurd. Does anyone have any hypothesis's on why these creatures would come here?" He asked.

Head down

Head down

Head down

"Maybe they finally got along?"

"I doubt that, considering from what local reports show, they have giant spaces from each other."

"Maybe they came here for something?"

"Or someone!"

They were too close for comfort.

Professor Kennings was about to entertain the ideas when a notification popped up and he jumped to it, turning on the live action news.

Hush fell over the lecture hall, eyes glued to the screen.

"I'm rose with Jim News and we're interviewing the seven sins in their home. They allowed it for some reason, but we don't hesitate to jump on an opportunity."

It showed them standing outside the house. They rang the doorbell and lo and behold, a tired looking Lucio answered, bags under his eyes.

"Sorry, we were just eating, come on in." The politeness caught Rose off guard and they walked in, seeing the sins eating the breakfast I laid out for them.

"Thank you for letting us interview you,"Rose quickly greeted, "I'm Rose."

"Well, you can probably gauge who we are."

"Right."

She turned to the sins and started strong, "this may be forward, but what brings you here? You seven are known to despise each other, so to come here and willingly stay together?"

Angelo got this doe-eyed look that definitely didn't go unnoticed. "We came here in search for someone. And my of my, if I could only catch straight guys."

Reyes smirks, "if he wasn't straight I'd try to get him into my bed. Quite the catch."

"You came here, for a man?" She paused.

Lucio nodded, "a couple years ago, we had a strong energy source pop on our radars, all of us could sense him. He wasn't a child anymore at that point, which was odd. Turns out his mother was somehow shielding him. We plan to figure out what causes this."

"So, there's a mortal living among you?"

"He made us breakfast," Greed informed, gesturing to his food, "despite us hitting on him and making him generally uncomfortable."

"He's teaching me how to cook later."

"Wha- no fair, I want to join!" Reyes complained.

Angelo glared, "do you even want to learn or would you just stare at him?"

"Jesus, can you two pipe it down? Not like either of you have a chance with a straight guy," Envy snorted.

"If  guessing correctly," rose intervened, "You're all attracted to him?"

"Of course," the group said together, causing me to blush.

Lucio smirked, "He's interesting."

"I don't know who would make a deal with you. I thought he'd be scared shitless of you," Derek chuckled.

"Deal?"

"We planned to take him as our own, figure out why we were so attracted to him, but he point blank said he'd put up with us for a year." Lucio left a short pause. "He's sinless."

"What?"

"He has never sinned. It just makes him all the more intriguing."

"Is he drop dead gorgeous?" Rose joked.

"Yes."

That's a confidence booster.

"He could top me," Reyes said with a misty look in his eyes.

"Coming from Lust, it isn't surprising." Envy snorted.

Rose looked more intrigued by me with every passing second, "so, does this mystery man have a name?"

"Yes, that we won't tell you," Derick smirked, "can't keep him to ourselves if everyone knew him."

"Considering the looks in his family, I can see where he got it." Wrath chuckled.

"Right, his dad is quite the DILF."

I cringed at Reyes words.

Rose cringed too, but hid it well, "well, should we expect to see you with him?"

"Maybe. After you leave, he'll be the only mortal to come and go from this place, so unless we join him somewhere, it's unlikely," wrath informed.

Correct.

The Rose girl nodded, not really sure how to deal with the unfit she was given. "Thank you all so much for your time."

"Eh, it was fun to actually talk to people for once." Lucio chuckled. She smiled awkwardly and excused herself.

My professor turned off the news and sorta just looked at us, with a very unamused face. Obviously, the sins coming here for a guy was interesting, but it wasn't comfortable to think about how they wanted to fuck him.

By him I meant me.

But no one besides me needed to know.

"I... oh boy."

"Something wrong professor?" I prompted.

He shook his head, "just not quite what I expected from supposedly terrible beings."

"They seemed kinda gay."

They had no idea.

"I'm just wondering what guy is just that fuckable that even the sins want a piece," some girl commented, "I would gladly take a slice of them."

"Maybe it's someone as attractive as Miles," someone joked.

A few girls giggled, "Yeah, Miles is definitely someone I'd sleep with. So Miles, you secretly hanging with the sins?"

I rolled my eyes, acting like I wasn't at all screaming inside, "Yes, because I would be interesting enough for them to nab."

"But you're cute enough," some people joked.

As if god hated me, my phone went off.

I scrambled to grab it, "I'm sorry, I must've forgot to silence it!" I rushed.

"You know the rules," professor Kennings reminded, "speakers on."

I sighed and accepted the call, worried about who was on the other side. "Hello?"

"Yo Miles, it's Derick."

Oh god no, "what's up?"

"Look, I know you're not into me, but you're the only one who actually likes action movies, would you like to catch one with me later this week?"

"This sounds like a date."

"It's not! Bring Carter along if you must!"

I rolled my eyes, "I'll think about it. I'm in class, so goodb-"

"One last thing!"

"What?" I grumbled our in annoyance.

There was a pause, and I felt like I could hear his smirk, "hypothetically, would you fuck me?@

"No!" I hung up and tossed my phone into my bag.

"That was quite the convo," a girl teased.

"Too many guys are hitting on me... why can't I get a cute girl or something?" I complained.

"Good luck."
