No one pov.
After Lilith entered the conduit 6 found himself staring off into space as they raced back to Alliance space. All he could think about is what would happen to Lilith. He said a silent pray as the Normandy flew through space to get to the alliance ship. Joker kept saying things trying to cheer him up but it did nothing. All he needed was a distraction. He pulled up his omni-tool connecting to the extranet. He browsed through as Lilith cut through geth and clone remnant krogan on the citadel.
"So whatcha ya looking for 6?" Joker asked as 6 pulled up a picture of an old fashion earth guitar.
"Just looking for distractions." He said as he got up and sighed in slight pain as he walked back through the ship making his way to Liliths room. As he stepped in he say his pip-pad with a note on it.
You forgot something last night.- XOXO
6 smiled and picked it up as he scrolled through his inventory. He stopped as he came upon the unopened letter. He pursed his lips as he thought about those nights he tried to open it but couldn't. The weight of guilt setting in as he shakily looked in his pockets for it. He pulled it out abs his usually steady hands trembled. He took a deep breathe before reading.
"Dear James,
If you're reading this then something unfortunate has happened to me and Evalynn. You're probably wondering where we went. I'm sorry but we left for California. The winters were getting to be too much and Evalynn was only 6 months old when it hit. So I decided while you were out deliverying that package, to pack up and leave. Marisa in town will be taking us. I'm sorry. You're an amazing brother and and Uncle but you can only do so much before it strains on you. I know mom wanted us to keep the house but it's falling apart and you're too stubborn to leave. I'll make sure Evalynn knows about you and all the good you did for us. If you ever make your way out to California look for us. Here I leave you my necklace as a reminder I love you baby brother.
With great regret and love from your Sister, Trish M. Ryan
6 pov.
As I read the face of the 2 laughing and smiling made me groan with pain. Many memories came back from my mind. Trish and I playing in a forest chasing one another when I was 5 and she was 7. Then another memory of me at 16 holding a trail carbine as I stalked through the snow. More memories appeared. I was 24 and sitting outside of a room as I heard screams from within. We were in town since the baby was coming. I was being comforted by a woman with Burnette hair. Marisa. I smiled as I heard the sound of a baby crying. I held my head as pain shot through it. A final memory popped into my head as I passed out on the floor.
I was on my knees in the snow as ash floated down on me. I was outside a burning cabin. It was my home. I had been gone for 2 weeks and all that was left in ruins. Blackened supports and wood laid discarded. Few things survived. A letter, my necklace, and a blanket that my mother had sewing before passing away. Tears ran down my face as they froze on my cheeks. I didn't know where Trish and Evalynn were. I never found out what happened.
I woke up to my pip-pad dinging. I groaned feeling my head as I looked at it. New radio signal acquired. Big MT distress signal. I instantly pressed it and was greeted by a voice I recognized.
"Hello? Can anyone hear me? My name is Arcade Gannon and I and my colleagues have been telephoned to some new world. We have been attacked by creatures I don't recognize. If anyone can hear me were in a jungle and a toaster is threatening to burn it down please help."
