Beyond the Line Part 2
In war, some have to choose between friends and family when fighting for the right to live.
Ross Howler knows this well from his experiences.
While there are records of his mother, Sarah Tomson, records of his father were mostly destroyed.
Though some believe he was connected to certain tales in the Wild West.
He was usually distant of his mother, choosing instead to live with his mysterious father, along with getting a step mother in the process.
It's unknown as to when Ross' father and step mother died, since the town they were buried at kept it a secret for Ross.
What is known is that Ross went back to his real mother later in her final years, at least giving her some happiness before passing away.
After that, Ross decided to move on from the west and look elsewhere.

Ross Howler's 1st diary Entry 1
I said my final farewells to my hometown, and probably the first real family I had.
I know I'm too hard on my mother, but she had her last chance with me.
She shouldn't have dumped and betrayed my dad for that rich man.
I know she claimed it was for me and my future, but that gave her no right to abandon her husband and my father.
Sarah wasn't what I considered my real mother anymore after we saw what kind of man my step father was.
I left with dad and a true mother when I got the chance, leaving Sarah behind with only riches to keep her company.
Sure it was a cold choice and the west is dangerous place to live constantly on the move in, but I couldn't stay with a woman who was a gold digger.
My true mom I lived with always put my needs before her own and always tried to cheer me up and protect me.
After many adventures, it was finally time to for dad and mom to ride into the sunset together.
I knew my dad wasn't a well loved hero, but he'll always be a legend in my heart.
I also have an equal spot in my heart for my step mom, despite still fighting against my feelings for my birth mother.
I said my last goodbyes to the bartender and the lady performer.
They were like an aunt and uncle to me when I grew up in my hometown.
With one last look, I rode fast beyond the horizon to find purpose beyond the desert.
--------------------------------------------
After leaving his old home, he left the west and traveled the world to find anything to give him reason.
Town after town and city after city, he couldn't find something to make a life out of.
It wasn't until he reached the habor town of Friarson that Ross found what he was after.

Ross Howler's 1st diary Entry 100
Today I finally found what I was looking for.
I had just finished a trip from a small community and traveled across into human territory.
My friends said it was the worst idea ever to go there.
I get that they're worried about me getting caught or killed, but we were at "peace" during this time.
My buddies were those who left the west with me when they found out I was leaving.
There wasn't much waiting for them in that sandbox either.
They planned to all settle down with families and move to Posseville, just ten miles from Mobotropolis.
But I didn't feel satisfied with that path.
Instead, I packed my things and left for human territory, at least planning on having some adventures.
I told my friends I'd call them sometime and tell them how I was doing.
I reached the shores a week later, not finding anything that would make me stay.
But as I was walking through the streets...
... I met her, my darling Daisy.
She was in a flower garden with the sun shining on her like a spotlight.
Her hair was long, but was braided in some places and had flowers decorating her.
She moved with the grace of an angel, but hid the courage of an alpha.
She was a Mobian dog, probably a golden retriever.
Before I could talk with her, I met my "obstacle" between her and me.
It was a young human boy, about 10 years old.
He was playing with her and having snacks with her.
I decided I'll ask questions later when I visited my friends again.
---------------------------------------------
Ross visited Daisy every week, trying to get to know her better.
His friends claimed that she was a pet or a slave to the human family.
But Ross questioned why she was happy though.
After learning Daisy was actually a hired guard dog, a servant and considered family by the human house, Ross was convinced Daisy was in good hands.
The next question to Ross was going to be a difficult one.
How was he going to be with Daisy?

Ross Howler's 1st diary Final Entry
I knew I wasn't going to get into the family easily.
After all, I'm a wolf, a species considered to be wild and savage.
But I got my big break one night, and I'm thankful for whoever gave it.
I was walking to my temporary apartment from the bar.
I was passing by the home Daisy lived in, when I felt something was wrong.
I went to check around the house, and I found Daisy.
She was tied up like a Christmas present.
I went to free her, but she quickly told me to help with something else.
A rat Mobian had tied her up and broke into the house.
He was Anti human and came to rob the house while killing the kids.
I immediately knew where he would go.
He was going to the baby!
I immediately forgot about Daisy and climbed up the side of the house.
For once, she wasn't on my mind.
I knew what it was like being separated from family...
...and I wasn't bout' to let it happen here!
I jumped through the window, filling the house with the sound of shattered glass.
I tackled the rat before he could poison the baby.
He clawed at me and got me off.
I then realized I was the one that was poisoned now.
But I didn't care, this rat had kicked in my father instincts the moment he came.
I punched at him around the room, but he was quicker than me too.
I made sure to keep him as far away from the crib as possible.
Bad news for me, the poison was making weaker each minute.
The rat got his chance and had me into a corner.
Just when I thought I was done, my rescue came from a loud noise.
BANG!!! BANG!!!
I haven't heard a gun shot ever since my dad last fired one, but I was grateful to hear it.
I saw the rat dead on the floor, with the human baby safe from him.
I fell asleep after that and woke up in a bed.
I saw the mother and father of the household, as well as Daisy next to my bedside.
Daisy looked overjoyed to see I was ok.
But something even better happened.
I was invited to stay as part of the family and household.
You can guess what my reaction to this was.

Normal POV
Robinson Family household 12:00 pm
Mr Robinson stares at Ross. "You sacrificed yourself to save my baby girl. How can repay you?"
Ross grunts and sits up some. "Seeing that baby smile and cuddle with your wife is all I need."
Mr Robinson points out the window. "You're the who's been moving from town to town, yes? I've seen you pass by sometimes."
Mrs Robinson nods. "I've seen her looking at Daisy and our son sometimes."
Daisy blushed when she heard that.
Ross checks his wound. "I'm just traveling to find the kind of life I want. I've got no luck so far."
Mr Robinson stood up. "Then Mr Howler, how would you like to stay here?"
Ross tilted his head. "Really? You can't be serious about this."
Mr Robinson smiled. "I am. You saved my family, and I have to repay that debt to you."
Ross put a hand up. "I can't take this gift, you barely know me."
Mr Robinson shook his head. "I insist, you need a place to live at. So do you accept?"
Mrs Robinson giggled. "You should, or else Daisy here might drag you home if say no."
Ross smiled. "Then I accept."
Daisy immediately hugged Ross as Mr Robinson chuckled. "Looks like we may have a wedding soon."
Ross hugs Daisy as she nuzzled him.
----------------------------------------------
After they married, Ross and Daisy had a son together.
They all grew together as a family, as well as with the Robinson household.
Mr Robinson named his daughter Rosie as a reminder of what Ross had done for her.
Ross had plenty of time to practice being a father with Samuel and Rosie.
The years past by as Ross' son grew in a young adult.
Ross watched as his son eventually married with a female wolf who was exiled from her family.
Unfortunately, the Great War broke out before Ross could hear about a grandchild.
Ross' son was too occupied trying to make a living for his family to enlist for human forces.
To make matters worse, Mr Robinson was now on his deathbed and in no condition to fight.
Despite both of their refusals, Ross insists on enlisting for both families.

Normal POV
Robinson household 6:00 pm
Ross' son, Jared, looked at him with a saddened expression. "You can't go dad. You're too old to fight."
Ross smirked. "Try telling that to your grandpa."
Jared groaned. "This is serious dad! War isn't something you've done in your life. If you go out there....I.....I won't get to see you again.....and neither will my kid."
Ross sighed. "I know, and I can't imagine being separated from you, but somebody's got to keep the family living. If I don't do it, who will?"
Jared holds his shoulders. "No one! This isn't your battle dad. You're going up against your friends if you do this! They were with you in thick and thin!"
Ross nods. "I know, but I got to fight."
He looked out the window. "Besides...what kind of friend goes around killing people, and still says they know me?"
He then looked deep into his son's eyes. "Please keep this promise to me. Remind your kid what me, your grandfather and you did for them, and keep it in their hearts."
Jared sighed before nodding his head. "I will...I just wish mother was still here."
Ross hugs him. "Me too. But at least be happy she left with a smile."
Jared watches as Ross walks down the streets with his bag, taking one last look at the place he called home.
Ross muttered. "I'll always love you and Daisy, son. Always."
--------------------------------------------
Ross left and joined the army.
After the hardest and most brutal training he went through, Ross was the first Mobian recruited in the army.
After completing a few missions with the 214th battalion, Ross was given a special opportunity.
Ross was trained further...
...and became a Green Beret two years later.
His heroic actions in battle made him excel further in the ranks.
