036. We'll Always Have That Summer
✧
"I have an idea."
A sentence like this is usually the first sign of a storm about to impact, but Mia's absolutely certain this will result in the greatest outcome. Others might disagree, but for the first time, she's definite nothing wrong will emerge from this.
"Mia, it's six in the morning," Bella rubs her eyes in an attempt to awaken herself, but her exhaustion is threatening to win this round.
"Congratulations. You know how to tell time," she nonchalantly says while climbing through her window. Two bats are swung behind her shoulder while on her other arm, her bag is hanging loosely, which definitely catches Bella's attention.
"Aren't you grounded? I mean, your mom is going to freak out," Bella shuts the window in an instant, unable to peel her eyes away from the worn down bats. Whatever idea she has, she knows it can't be anything good.
"I snuck out," Mia says as if it's the most normal thing. It's not like sneaking out will affect her much considering she's done worse, but that's the last thing on her mind now. "Get ready so we can go somewhere special."
She narrows her eyes at her suspiciously, "I'm going to need more information, like, if what we're doing is illegal."
Mia laughs as if she had said the funniest thing. "Are you forgetting your dad is a cop and that he's dating my mother? We're technically bulletproof, so don't worry about getting in trouble with your old man."
Bella's still unsure about this, but she can tell this is something her friend needs – a distraction. After last week's outburst, it's obvious she's hurting and her outlet has been through anger. If going through with whatever idea she has up her sleeve is the way to keep her out of trouble, then she's following her through anything.
"Give me ten minutes," she simply says, causing Mia to smile and hold her in tight embrace.
"Yes! This is why I love you," Mia heads back to the window and begins climbing out, taking Bella off guard.
"What are you doing?"
She stares at her with a deadpan look, "I'm waiting for you in your truck. What does it look like I'm doing?"
Bella furrows her brows, unsure how she's getting in when her keys are downstairs. "But it's locked. You can't get inside."
"Are you forgetting I have magic? Unlocking doors is the easiest spell in the book," Mia grips onto her bag tighter and Bella could swear there's a bottle inside it based on its shape. "Now hurry up, Bells."
She climbs out the window and lands swiftly in the parched grass. She glances up to make sure Bella isn't looking and pulls out a bottle of liquor that she stole from her mother's cabinet. It's halfway empty, but it doesn't stop her from swallowing the bitter contents in a giant gulp. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, allowing the acidic beverage to become a part of her and let its effect run its course.
Quickly, Mia returns the bottle into the safety of her bag. Her extension charm is definitely coming in handy now that she can place the bats inside it. She heads over to Bella's rundown truck and mutters, "Alohomora."
The door opens with ease and she enters in a hasty move. She props her feet up on the dashboard and waits for Bella to come down, and like she said, she walks out in ten minutes.
"So, where are we going?" Bella turns on the engine and begins reversing down her driveway. She expects to hear La Push since that's the only place she guesses Mia would want to go, but she didn't expect the next few words.
"We're going to the Cullen residence."
Bella gapes at her in disbelief, unsure why she would want to head to the once home of the person who broke her heart. "I'm not trying to sound judgy, but why in the world would you want to go there?"
"Why do you think I brought two bats?"
Bella brakes too harshly, which makes the both of them nearly bump their heads into the front window. "Please tell me we're not doing what I'm thinking."
Mia confirms her suspicions through a foreboding smile. "It's an empty house and it's not like they're coming back to complain. If anything, they can use their millions to fix it if they ever decide to plague us with their visit."
Bella concludes that the way Edward must have ended things must have been terrible based on the resentment Mia's now holding. She always defended them against anyone and would be willing to fight to the death for them. If she's now considering breaking into their home to destroy it, that only signifies how much pain the family, he, have caused.
"Come on, Bells," Mia nudges her shoulder, hoping to encourage her. "It'll be fun. Destroying whatever is in sight with no repercussions sounds like the best thing in the world."
Still unsure about this, Bella simply decides on agreeing if it means her friend won't be alone. "Okay, fine. I'll try to enjoy myself."
Victoriously, Mia prides her through a smile before turning on the radio. However, her enjoyment is short-lived when recognizing the song. It's the same one she and Edward had danced to at prom. It used to be her favorite, but now it's cursed. It's a reminder of what she used to have, but had now lost. A part of her wants to forget, but the pain is the reminder that he had been real. That all of them were.
She feels like such a fool for wanting to hold on to the memories. Edward must have probably found someone worthy and good already. Something she will never be. He must have moved on and she's still right where he left her.
God, she hates him. She hates him so much. She hates the Cullens for leaving and for having no trouble abandoning her as if she meant nothing to them. What happened to Alice's claim that family sticks together through everything?
Clearly, she had been nothing but an outsider all this time. They lied to her face and laughed at her naivety. They couldn't care less about her while she had viewed them as everything.
It's her fault for falling for their charms, for falling for him. All of this could have been avoided if she had followed through with her instincts. If she had never opened her heart, she wouldn't be wishing to fade into the wind, but it's too late. There's nothing she can do other than accept this deception destroying her more through every day that passes.
She just has to move forward and if destroying the start of everything is the way to go, then so be it. She would burn their entire world down if she has to.
When Bella parks in their driveway, Mia wastes no time in getting out. She looks up at the house and is infuriated that the residence is still as lavish as ever. Even in its emptiness, it still stands like a modernized castle. It's a fortress beholding mountains of secrets, but an even greater bearer of deception.
"It's bigger than I last remember," Bella sighs heavily, remembering the last time she was here was after prom. "It's umm- it's pretty."
"It's horrid," Mia places her bag down and reaches for their bats. She hands one to her and strides up the staircase to the entrance.
The door is obviously locked, but instead of using her magic to open it, she slams her boot against the handle, causing it to slam in a harsh collision against the wall. A hole is left in the once perfect structure and she smiles at the damage to such opulence.
Faint light reflects from the window, cascading into the desolate interior full of echoes and meaningless promises. The light brown floors are stained with their footsteps, each serving as a reminder of their existence and their now departure. Images of the past cover the pristine walls, haunting the premises and forming cobwebs in its inner crevices.
While a part of her is destroyed at being here, the greater part is becoming more angry at how much she used to value this deceiving home. She holds the base of her bat much tighter and swallows her emotions away, choosing to focus on only her sizzling rage.
It sure doesn't help when noticing the decor is still intact, almost as if they were planning on returning or perhaps couldn't care less due to all the wealth they're drowning in. Surely, replacing these won't cause a dent in their wallet.
Their furniture is covered by a plain white sheet, resembling ghosts enduring an eternity of damnation. This entire home is a haunted house and the corners are consumed by darkness while the light has remained adamant on keeping out.
"Where do we start?" Bella shakily asks, unsure if moving forward is still the right thing.
A crystal vase becoming smashed is the only response offered. Its glass spills onto the floor like snow falling from the sky. The rest of the ornaments become destroyed and combine with the mess, creating different arrays of colors and patterns. Various paintings are removed from the walls and tossed across the room. All of them land near the staircase, its wooden corners becoming logged into their canvas and obliterating their techniques.
Mia finds herself laughing with every shatter and every swing. Witnessing the place that lied to her about making her feel accepted, worthy, and loved, felt relieving.
They deserve their home to be destroyed seeing as they had no issue destroying her. Material is nothing compared to emotions, but it brings her enjoyment that the things they cherished were now gone.
From the corner of her eye, she sees the canvas made up with their graduation caps. A private joke, he once said. Seems betrayal is another one of theirs. She strides past the destroyed furniture and begins removing each cap from the canvas. All of them tumble to the ground like autumn leaves, splattering their farcical puns into wind.
Having learned wandless magic certainly has its perks. Now she can inflame anything with just one thought, which is exactly what she does with the remaining canvas. The lingering caps begin burning, its darkened smoke rising to the air and filling the room with its toxicity.
Bella clumsily hurries into the kitchen to search for a fire extinguisher, but just when she finds it and heads to the burning area, the fire has been extinguished with magic. "You have to warn me when you're going to do that."
Taking the fire extinguisher from her hand, Mia grips it tightly and aims it straight at the window. A large hole now resides in the center, causing the rain to splatter as if the water was being directed inside.
"How about some liquid courage?" Mia waltzes down the stairs and returns with a bottle of liquor. She waves it in the air enthusiastically, but is unable to notice the bewilderment in her friend's gaze.
"Where did you get this?" Bella reaches for the drink, now even more concerned that her suspicions have been confirmed. It's a large bottle that is almost empty, which means she's been drinking it this entire time.
"Who cares? Just drink it," Mia brushes past her friend's concern as she feels a tinge of regret for having asked her to accompany her. If she knew getting scolded would have been a key factor for this, she would have simply stayed home with her overbearing mother.
Bella refuses, "I'm not going to and you shouldn't either."
"More for me then," Mia chugs the rest of the contents, causing a few droplets to drizzle down her chin that she wipes in an instant before letting the bottle crash to the ground.
"I really think we should go now," Bella tries taking her downstairs, but she harshly shoves her hand off and starts heading to the second floor. "Mia, come on."
"Why are you being such a buzzkill? Have fun for once. Learn to live a little," she shatters a few more vases, swinging her bat all around.
Bella knows better than to take it personal. It's obvious she's hurting and this is her way of coping with her loss, but it doesn't mean she's about to allow her friend to become lost in her pain.
"I'm not being a buzzkill. I just think we destroyed enough and should head out now," Bella approaches her calmly as if not to anger her more. "Why don't we go to La Push? Maybe surf some waves-"
She laughs at such a thought, "You want to surf? You can barely walk without falling. Let's not mention how you're incapable of doing anything without someone holding your hand."
Again, Bella knows better than to let her words get to her. "Okay, I'm letting it slide just because you're hurt-"
She scoffs, "I'm not hurt. I'm more than fine, so if you want to leave, then go. I don't need you here."
"Then why did you ask me to come?"
She nonchalantly shrugs, "I thought it'd be fun, but it seems I was wrong. You're just as deficient as everyone else in this town."
Bella swallows hard, "Maybe I am, but this deficient friend is worried about you. I'm not leaving until you come with me."
"Who are you? My mother?" Mia complains and runs her hands through her hair. "I don't need you here, so just leave!"
Glancing away, Mia tries ignoring this guilt gathering in her chest. She knows she shouldn't have gone off on Bella, but she's just so angry that she can't contain it any longer. All the time, she's resentful and nothing she does helps alleviate it. Maybe destroying this home was a mistake, but it's helping her get rid of this emotion, which she seriously wishes Bella could understand.
She pauses at the top of the stairs and tries ignoring her mind asking her to just leave and listen to her friend, but her stubbornness is much stronger. It doesn't allow her rational side to take over, so instead, she continues walking down the hall while destroying everything in her path.
More windows, chandeliers, vases, and other decor are shattered. The once beautiful home has now transformed into a full haunted house, making it the epitome of nightmares and unpleasantness. Their shadows might still be present, but at least they're burdened in the fire they founded.
Mia strides down the hallway, but comes to an abrupt stop when noticing a familiar door. It's closed, almost as if opening it would unleash her demons. She doesn't want to continue, but her hand is already turning the knob as if it had developed a mind of its own.
His room is just like she last remembers. All of his books, photographs, drawings, his music notebook, and the notes she wrote him are staring at her like a cruel joke. It wasn't enough to break her heart, but he just had to add more salt to the wound by abandoning everything that served as a reminder of her. He left them as if they meant nothing, as if all their time together had been meaningless and only she had cherished it.
Hesitation in stepping inside aches her, but the potency of her memories are the chains hauling her in. His room still smells like him. A mixture of a fresh ocean wave and a tinge of amber and cedarwood. The very same scent that had become imprinted into her soul ever since they had dinner at Seattle that autumn day.
How harrowing that a once cherished memory has now become the cause for pain. It's maddening how fast the night changes that all she can do is flow along with the waves.
With every step and every wandering gaze, the reminder of their time maims her deeper than anything ever has. Everything they experienced in this room will forever remain and not even in her hardest attempts can she forget that she became his and he became hers.
Her heart, body, and soul were handed on a silver platter, wilting like a white lily and completing her as if a missing puzzle piece had become connected. Now, she's left parched like a fish longing for water. Their once connection and promise to eternally be linked had been a broken oath, simply a way to sway her into giving in to her deepest desires.
She gave him everything and now he has become the bane of her existence.
Months Earlier
"So, when do I get to hear this song you've been composing?" Mia's been pestering him nonstop ever since stumbling upon his music notes. From what Alice has told her, the song has been ready for quite a while, but for some reason, he hasn't played it for her like he promised.
"Tonight," he assures her and she narrows her eyes at him with suspicion, unsure of whether or not to believe him. "I promise and it helps that we have the whole house to ourselves, so there won't be the worry of anyone interrupting."
Alone with him. Such revelation makes her nervous. They've never had the entire house to themselves before. Let alone for the entire weekend due to the rest of the Cullens having gone hunting. While she's eternally grateful in not having to share her boyfriend, she's also nervous about what could happen.
Not because of him, but because of her. She's not as strong as she believes, and her dreams have been the evidence of it.
"Looks like you're trapped then, because I'm not leaving until hearing that song," she caresses his cheek and rubs circles on them. If she didn't know any better, she could swear he's blushing. "I love being your muse."
Edward leans down, unable to hide the smile spreading across his lips. "My muse? Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night."
"Come on. Admit it, ghosty," Mia comes closer, shortening the distance between them even more as he rests his hands on her waist. "I have become your overbearing muse."
"Overbearing, yes," he teases, loving the slight frown appearing on her gorgeous face. "Muse? Hmm, debatable."
Pretending to be annoyed, Mia removes herself from his hold and starts heading to the edge of the meadow. He shakes his head with a smile and takes her by surprise by wrapping his arms around her stomach and landing kisses all around her neck.
Sometimes she hates the effect he has on her, but also can't prevent loving it at the same time.
Mia turns to face him and places her arms around his neck. He holds her with such delicacy as he brings her closer, allowing their lips to crash unceremoniously with no desire of ever separating.
If granted the chance, she would hold them under this moment for an eternity. She's afraid that this can ever end, but such a thought suddenly vanishes when knowing they will always be with each other no matter what. With everything they've gone through, she can't imagine their golden string fracturing.
The summer rain suddenly starts pouring out of nowhere. Reluctantly, they rush away from the storm and take cover under the nearest tree. She hops onto his back and before she can even close her eyes, the warm wind is slapping her cheeks with its force. The descent back to his house is much quicker than going up, which she's fairly grateful for.
Once they arrive at the Cullen house, Edward guides her upstairs and hands her a towel, soon proceeding to help dry her hair. His soft hands run through her brown locks, gently running his fingers through them in a comforting stroke. She smiles up at him, finding herself becoming more absorbed by this love coursing through her crimson blood.
He leans down and steals a kiss, causing her face to display a rosy shade. She returns the gesture and before she knows it, both of them begin running around the house while laughing at their childish antics. Somewhere along the way, she finds the music room and freezes when seeing the grand piano resting comfortably in the center of its vacancy.
Edward's nerves return, his mind now running a mile a minute. He's perfect at playing the instrument and never once has doubted his skill, but as he's about to play the song he's worked on for her, he's worried his capability would fail him now.
Mia takes a step further toward the piano. Her fingers slide against the edges, caressing the soft and sleek texture as she circles the instrument with ease. She glances up to him and nods her head in her direction. "No excuses now. It's time, ghosty."
Edward sighs shakily and sits himself down. His hands hover above the keys for a minute, praying to whatever holy divine exists that he doesn't mess up. It's truly the first time he's ever been this nervous, almost as if he's about to audition for a school of arts or as if he's about to take a final examination. He's petrified of ruining the song and disappointing her, when all he's ever wanted was to make her proud.
As he begins playing, Mia sits herself next to him. His fingers dance over the keys, filling her entire being with the most beautiful melody to have ever been created. She can't believe he went through all this trouble in composing something for her. No one has ever done this before. No one has loved her like he does.
He's the only person who has made her feel worthy of existing, like she's able to experience all the great things this world has to offer, and like she can breathe without being suffocated anymore.
Her greatest fear has always been that someone can love her for who she is. Meeting him locked her fears into a vault and the key has been thrown at bay. For the first time, she feels deserving of being loved and he's the reason.
God, she truly irrevocably loves him with her entire body, heart, and soul.
As the last key comes to an end, Mia's left so entranced in her blessings that she's frozen for a moment. It isn't until the feeling of his arm around her awakens her from her state, gracing her with the sight of her beloved and reason for everything.
"It's beautiful," Mia holds him with such gentility, as if he's a treasured relique meant to be held with delicacy. Her touch is magnetic and electrifying, making his beatless heart start beating again. She cups his face and lands a kiss on his lips, both of them melting into their graze and diving deeper into it.
Edward smiles through their kiss and guides her back to his room. The rain is still pouring mercilessly and due to the vast amount of windows, it allows the beautiful forest to become their incredible view.
She notices a bed sitting right in the center and automatically, she can't prevent from worrying that he wasted his money on her. He shouldn't have gone through the trouble when she would have been perfectly comfortable sleeping on his cozy rug.
"You shouldn't have," Mia caresses the soft fabric, its velvety texture grazing her fingertips in an angelic stroke. "I can sleep anywhere as long as there's a blanket."
"Is it too much?" Edward asks, worried he might have made her uncomfortable.
She shakes her head and lays down on the soft covers, "It's perfect."
He takes the spot next to her, their arms brushing against the other while listening to the pouring rain clattering against the window. She turns to look at him and is relieved when finding he's already doing the same.
Edward slowly traces the outline of her jaw, his cool touch replenishing her like the last sip of water on a desert. She nuzzles deeper into his touch and closes her eyes, "That feels nice."
"It's because you're cold hearted," he teases and she smiles.
"Good thing yours is frozen," Mia teases him back. "That means you're also cold hearted."
"For everyone else, yes," he admits and his soft, alluring voice makes her heart skip a beat. "Never for you."
Mia stares at Edward with a profound love. She can't believe this is her reality and that she's been granted the fortune of finding her person in the most unlikely of places. She's never been a believer of faith, mainly since her destiny has always been meant for the dark, but for the first time, she chooses to believe her destiny has always been to meet him and become his.
Simultaneously, they move forward at the same time. A soft yet passionate kiss is created, expressing what words aren't able to. Their movements are synchronized and become linked, both of them correlating to the other with ease like a wave taking them to the shore.
She melts under his touch, unable to comprehend how she's able to maintain her composure. Everything he does makes her crazed and ignites a flame to course through her system. He makes her lightheaded and has made her blossom into the woman she never expected to become. With him, she's free to be her authentic self and never in a million years could she have imagined finding such eternal bliss.
Edward hungrily kisses her, pleasure arising at feeling her heat radiating onto his body. He still can't believe she's here with him and that she's managed to love him. Regardless of his questionable insecurities, he chooses to brush past them as today, he's focusing on this dream. He's focusing on her and ensuring she knows his feelings for her.
Mia wants to be his. She wants all of him. Every touch, every movement, every breath. Everything. She has always loved him from the start and while she didn't know it yet, her heart kept calling his name.
She pulls him closer through the collar of his shirt. Her palm rests against his chest while her arm wraps itself around his neck to shorten their distance even more. He gasps with pleasure at her warm touch and traces his hand down her back, an action that takes her breath away and burns deeper than a phoenix's flames.
His lips fit perfectly with hers and resemble the final puzzle piece that completes them. They have spent years wandering in perdition and have finally acquired a taste of heaven. She's as sweet as wine, but also fierce like a neat whiskey. He's complex like a savory rum, yet intense like the vigorous taste of brandy, truly and completely intoxicating and fulfilling.
The ferocity of his desire for her becomes stronger and he worries of possibly hurting her through this fervency. "We should stop-"
"No, it's okay," Mia practically pleads as she can't fathom her dreams ending this soon. "Don't stop."
Edward breathes heavily, his desire for her burning deeper than anything. He longs to continue, but he's afraid she might believe this is all he wants. "I just don't want you to think I brought you here just for this."
Her eyes widen at his consideration.
"We don't have to continue."
"I want to," her words are barely more than a breath.
She desires this more than anything, more than the air needed to breathe, but that voice in her head makes her grow small, making her believe that he doesn't burn for her the same way she does for him.
"Unless you don't feel the same," she nervously says and averts her gaze to anything but him.
Edward stares at her in disbelief and moves his hand forward, gently placing it under her chin to then slowly raise it. "Believe me, I do. I really do," he whispers, his face just mere inches from hers.
She softly smiles, one so small that it would go unnoticed, but he sees it clearly. He notices every little thing about her no matter how insignificant it might seem. He's able to read into her footnotes and while an intense vulnerability comes with it, she can't prevent from loving it at the same time.
Slowly yet also hastily, Mia leans toward him and dives deeper into the kiss. He cups her face and moves his hands to the softness of her arms down to her waist. His palms inch their way underneath her shirt, allowing soft gasps to emit from her tasteful lips. She slides closer to him and melts under his touch, his hands hugging the base of her thighs and hauling her toward him with urgency.
Edward holds her reverently, no longer resisting his primitive desire of becoming hers. He ardently wants her and it isn't until now that he's unsure of how he had been able to resist all this time.
She's the most heavenly being to have graced this earth. Paradise lies within her and her lips are heaven's gates. Resisting her would be like resisting his instinct and he'd be damned if he chooses to take the stairway to hell.
He brushes his hand along her chin, a tender guidance that brings her gaze up to his. She reaches for the end of his shirt and lifts it over his shoulders, the maroon shirt falling to the ground in a soft thud.
His bare chest presses into hers, their different temperatures combining and creating their own personal one. Her heart races uncontrollably, its beats banging against her ribcage and making her blood inflame with devotion. She's radiating with desire and with a profound sense of belonging as for the first time, she feels completely embraced by the hands of acceptance and love.
"Wait," he mutters against her lips, their foreheads now resting against the other. "Are you still sure about this? Is this still okay?"
She nods and never once glances away from him, "I'm still sure. I want it to be with you."
Edward kisses her in tender touch as he removes her blouse and places it aside. He notices she's wearing the gift he gave her for her birthday – a silver necklace that has a pendant in the shape of a sun. He has a moon engraved in his ring to match, both of them a representation of the light and darkness.
He places his hands on her arms, slowly tracing them to her shoulders and caressing her chestnut locks that appear as if daylight was trapped in them. She comes closer and places her arms around his neck, him intensifying the kiss and running his hands on her bare back. She gasps with pleasure as such liberation courses through her veins.
Without looking away from him, she reaches to the back of her bra and unclasps it. He strokes her bare shoulder and pushes her hair back, unable to believe how lucky he is to have been blessed with someone as good and bewitching as her.
Gently, he brings her down to the bed to where he's now on top. Her breath hitches as he comes down and connects his lips with hers. His hair trickles down like dominoes, causing goosebumps to run down her spine and linger like a tattoo kiss. He kisses her softly yet also intensely, like she's become his lifeline and sole reason for existing.
Their souls and body become one, forever linking to the other and marking the start of everything. They have become each other's anchor, each holding the other upright and steady through all the hardships. They're each other's wish upon a shooting star and the gravity that holds the planets together.
They are one.
Until forever ends, which came sooner than expected.
Present Day
Mia gave herself to him that summer day. She gave her entire heart and soul thinking they would be together. She dreamed of experiencing everything with him, but her hopes were nothing but a figment of her fantasy. They're nothing but broken promises meant to be buried as the seasons change.
She had trusted him with everything and he left her as if they meant nothing. How could he have been so cruel? How could he have taken everything with him knowing it was bound to destroy her?
She hates him with her entire being, but what she hates most is the fact that she doesn't hate him. Not even close. Her shattered heart is still calling his name and not even with all the pleas to the universe would she forget.
God, why can't she hate him?
Mia urges herself to destroy everything in his room, but she can't bring herself to. Destroying everything will make it real and she's not certain if she will be able to handle everything she's been holding in ever since he left.
Her grip on the bat slowly loosens itself, its wooden material crashing to the ground in a grating collision. Her entire body trembles as tears begin pricking at her eyes. She wants to stop this, to not allow him to affect her, but she can't.
Holding the picture they took in New York, Mia can't contain the tears any longer. Her lip quivers as sobs rake her body, making it harder to breathe and resist this pressure any longer. She tries shielding her cries, but her efforts are only hurting her more. This pain is suffocating her and consuming her through every waking moment, preventing any resistance and fight from emerging.
Her knees come crashing to the ground as her cries become less controllable. Searing agony rummages through her body, resembling a caged spirit begging to be released from hell. Her hands dig into the rug, almost as if serving as another way to release everything.
The photograph keeps staring at her as if mocking her and letting her know that everything had been a lie. Nothing was real and she had been a fool for believing otherwise.
Someone like her isn't meant for great things. Let alone love. She had been an idiot to have shown her darkest parts to him as it only meant ruining the greatest thing she ever had.
The thing is, it was great to her, but never to him.
Why couldn't she see it before?
"Mia!" Bella rushes into the room and holds her in a tight embrace. "It's okay. You're okay. I'm here," she reassures her, holding her tightly against her and letting her release everything she's kept repressed.
Mia tries releasing herself from her hold as she refuses to receive any comfort when she isn't worthy of receiving it. She's not made for it. She's not made for anything good. She fights against her embrace, but Bella is able to push through.
"It's okay. I'm here for you."
Edward Cullen is everywhere. He's in the trees, in the rain, in the moonlight, in the breeze, and the forest's ground. He's haunting her every corner and it breaks her never being able to reach him.
She can't contain this any longer and while a part of her wishes to return to her old self, she knows that part of her will never return. He took it with him and she resents him for not thinking of the effects his abandonment would bring.
Everything affects everything.
Gasping loudly and with tears streaming down her cheeks mercilessly, she fails to control the power emanating from her. The glass from the windows shatters and the trees begin crumbling as if an ax had cut them. The once subsiding rain has now transformed into a full blown storm and begins splashing into the room, creating a mountain of chaos to submerge them with its weight.
Breathing slowly, Mia's gaze wanders to the destruction she caused. Her heart aches as the place she once cherished has now become dismantled.
Everything she touches becomes destroyed and this is just an example of it.
Author's Note
Hey, y'all! Hope you're doing good!
For a better picture, I imagine the song Edward plays for Mia to resemble "Nica's Theme" by Andrea Farri, but you can imagine it as anything else.
Don't be a ghost reader!
