I typically do not write historical fiction, but the idea for this story just felt like something I had to tell. I wanted a heroine who was tangled up in a lie that ran so deep, for so long that she struggles to figure out who she really is and cope with having to make adult decisions, while while being a teenager.

This story is set in the 1700's. Britain is still involved in the Seven Year War and the United States is still owned by three separate territories of Spain, France and Great Britain. Many big things are happening in Mercy's time period, but despite all these big things, she is having to deal with love, identity and the struggles of being a female.

This is the story of a bi-racial servant girl who was switched at birth with a still-born Lord's baby and all the consequences that followed this action.

This story is entirely fictional. Certain names and elements have been changed to fit the setting.
