CHRIS'S MOM: March 23rd, 2016, the day after Chris's ninth birthday--

We get a ripple effect which transitions to the past where we see Chris and his father playing football

CHRIS'S MOM: Both Chris and his father were super close they always played together and did things together, but during that night everything changed.

CHRIS'S MOM: Around 17:45pm, Chris's dad was called to some business meeting in some place called the Mobriossau Region.

LACY 2.0: Mobriossau Region? Where's that at?

Record Scratch an we immediately get sent back to the present

LACY 2.0: I looked through my data, and there's only 12 regions that I know of. Kanto, Sevii Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Battle Zone, Hisui, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and Paldea. The Mobriossau Region doesn't exist at all.

CHRIS'S MOM: It's a fictional region the writer of this fanfic thought of. He thought it would be a good idea to make up his own region instead of using one of the existing ones already.

LACY 2.0: Oh, makes sense. Sorry to interrupt, please continue.

CHRIS'S MOM: Thank you.

Flashback resumes

CHRIS'S MOM: As I was saying, Chris's dad was called to a Business meeting in the Mobriossau so he had to leave that night. He said he'd be back in two weeks, but that never happened. Apparently when he was in his Hotel over there somerhing terrible happened to him in the middle of the night over there.

AGHAMORA: What happened?

CHRIS'S MOM: At around 03:30am in the morning, he was brutally murdered by a Shoebill looking Pokemon.

EMMERANNE: What's a Shoebill?

Record Scratches again and we get sent back to the present.

CHRIS'S MOM: Lacy, will you pull up a picture of a Shoebill please?

LACY 2.0: Certainly.

A blue light shoots out of her eyes and it shows a picture of a Shoebill

CHRIS'S MOM: That's a Shoebill.

EMMERANNE: What the... that thing literally looks like a living dinosaur.

CHRIS'S MOM: Well, "rex" is in it's scientific name, so it is a living dinosaur.

EMMERANNE: Dear god.

The blue light disappears

CHRIS'S MOM: Yeah, this Pokemon brutally murdered Chris's dad, and after we heard the news, we were devistated. We traveled to Mobriossau to attend the funeral, luckily, there was no Shoebill Pokemon out when we went to the funeral

EMMERANNE: That's good to hear.

CHRIS'S MOM: Yeah, but ever since that day I've been doing everything by myself, and our family was never the same again. Oh well, things happen, and we can't turn the clock back. Now, I'm gonna go make those sandwiches. You guys can watch TV, it'll be awhile before these sandeichs are done.

Chris's Mom walks into the kitchen

CIARAN: I feel bad for her.

EMMARANNE: I do too, losing someone you love can't be easy.

LACY 2.0: Uh, I'm right here.

COVENTINA: Oh, right, sorry.

AGHAMORA: I hope she's doing okay.

CIARAN: She seems to be doing fine.

LACY 2.0: Yeah.

CIARAN: Let's just watch TV and wait for the sandwiches to be done.

EMMARANNE: Okay.

Aghamora grabs the TV Remote, turns the TV on, and changes the channel to Iontv

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Yes I decided to set this scene before the release of Sun and Moon and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. I know it's weird to do so, but doesn't it feel weird that the character, you play as, father is never with the mother in any of the games? So, I decided to give the backstory that the father died from a wild pokemon.
