Chapter 1: Me? Leader?

A/N: Here's an idea for a book I cooked up after getting back from Florida a few hours ago! I'm back! Please enjoy this new story!

My leader... My father.

He's dead, I honestly kind of expected this.

Ever since we've begun that war with the Enemy Nation. Their forces proved superior to ours, but once the wheel began really turning it was hard to stop. It's been met with success, but after those last few blood-filled months... We've been pushed back from a few kilometres away from their capital city back behind the Feldwig River which had bordered the barrier between ours and the enemy nations.

I still remember the storm my father had screamed up when he heard that one of our bridges had been taken by the enemy, and the enemy now held a solid bridgehead into our heartland. He'd shot dead one of our Generals that night, the one in charge of holding the Feldwig River.

He finished by silently walking past us, entering that bunker room of his. I missed our mansion greatly the fond memory of such an amazing house replaced with the grim feeling of the bunker that sat beneath the public library, That was only yesterday, I remember hearing the shot from another room, they had covered his body while they brought him out, another one of our soldiers had brought with him a canister of gasoline, hell I'll be dammed wherever he got that thing during the current embargo imposed on us.

Now I sit here in my room, shocked at all the current events. I can hear artillery fire in the distance, not ours... theirs. When just then General Smith opens the door to my bunker room.

Smith: Y/N, sonny boy, we've found this in your father's workplace.

I take the piece of paper, it's my father's handwriting. Detailing what he wants after his death?... His will! It detailed many things he had wanted after his death, all various meaningless things to me. It was then I saw it, the last line of text sent shivers down my spine.

'

And gift no one else with my position as Supreme Chancellor of the State other than my firstborn and only son, Y/N L/N, should he be still alive.'

Me: Me!? The Supreme Chancellor!? What?

General Smith nodded, he took the will back from me.

Smith: Yes, it is your father's request. We have to adhere.

Me: The fuck? This was written years ago!

I shot back, seeing the date of the will.

Smith: But it's technically valid now, since it is his final wishes and everything's transpired as smoothly as possible according to the will.

Well, things just went down the shitter. Giving control of the State to some teenage boy.

Me: Right, I understand. Thank you.

I say, General Smith salutes me. I woefully salute back.

Smith: The men are waiting for you outside.

I exit my bunker room, Many uniformed soldiers and generals stood before me, clapping at my promotion. Please no, this isn't gonna work... I'm not the saviour of the State... not at a time like this!

Me: T-thank you.

One General stood up, walking towards me.

General: What are your first orders Supreme Chancellor?

He asked, I began to sweat. I wasn't much of a leader, and I wasn't that much of a brave person. But I still didn't want to ruin their hopes, they all began to depend on me no, they DO depend on me now. My father never did tell me much on the files of his office, even if I was to surpass him when he died. I just decided to say whatever I've heard from him. Beginning with Red Street.

Me: Um, Activate Operation Red Street... the complete fortification of the capital city and the destruction of all important documents vital to The State. It must be completed before the enemy arrives.

They all complied quickly, rushing to the radio stations, others exiting the bunker to inform units within the city... I hope I'm doing the right thing.
