Sheldon's POV:

I close my eyes as Penny read me the book. By the end, I was sound asleep. Then, my brain thrust me into another world. I found myself on a hill around the middle of the day. I heard screaming behind me and smelled smoke. When I turned around, I saw an old abandoned church in flames on top of the hill. A crowd of children and teachers stood around. One woman seemed to be frantically counting the children. 

When a car drove up with three boys, I gasped and started screaming. "NO! STOP! DONT GO IN! LEAVE THE CHILDREN BEHIND!" But no one could hear me. I tried to run and stop them, but it seemed my feet were planted on the ground. 

The scene played out as it had in The Outdiders. Johnny and Ponyboy went in first, and Dally followed. All three came out in horrible shape.

"What's wrong with you?" I cry. "That's what happens when you help people! You get hurt! And now Johnny and Dally are going to die!" 

I wake up in a cold sweat with one thought on my mind: "I have to stop this."
