Memories Pt. 2
~Flash back~
The time period was the 1600's, as the humans called them. A young girl born in a French colony with a German mother and an English father was sitting in her garden, even though it was more like a tiny farm than a garden. Emilia Rosch, that was her name. Ashriel had been observing the human race as usual when she walked into Emilia's garden, invisible to all humans as usual when she saw what Emilia was doing, Emilia was tending to an injured bird's leg, it was a task so pure. Emilia had absolutely nothing to gain from doing that, but she did anyway. From that moment onward Ashriel visited Emilia regularly, though Emilia never saw her. In that sense you could have said Ashriel became Emilia's guardian angel. Ashriel watched Emilia for three years, which had felt like no time at all to the immortal angel. Emilia had just turned 16 the final year that Ashriel watched her. Through those three years Ashriel watched her Emilia continued to prove how she was some of the best humanity could offer, her soul blazed brightly and purely. However, that light was snuffed out later that year. At the mere age of 16 Emilia was accused of being a witch and was burned at the stake without trial. Ashriel watched as she burned, the best of humanity being destroyed. Ashriel had wanted to save Emilia but it was the girl's time, so, Ashriel instead sent away the reaper that was supposed to send Emilia's soul on it's way and instead did it herself. That would've only proved how disgusting the human race was, that they ended the life of someone so innocent, but the very next day in the garden, in place of Emilia was her little sister, Marie, still too young to feel sad about death, she was tending to the plants. She was just like her older sister. It was then Ashriel realized that no matter how much it tried, the poison inside the human race would never be able to fully snuff out the good within.
~End of Flash Back~
Lily frowned, staring at the trees and surrounding land scape wiz past her vision. She really didn't like thinking about her older memories, mostly because it reminded her of how old she actually was. And as for remembering Emilia? That was just too painful. Remembering the way she screamed out in pain and begged for the townspeople to reconsider as she was being burned alive. The way the townspeople looked at her in disgust and cheered as she burned as if she was the root of all evil. Emilia's mother being a sobbing mess begging them to stop only to be held back by Emilia's father. The entire time Ashriel just stood there and watched with no more than a frown, it made Lily want to throw up. But... Lily also remembered how after it was all said and done and she stood there alone holding Emilia's very soul in the palm of her hand even then, after everything, it still shone so brilliantly and pure. In that sense Lily supposed the conclusion she reached those some four hundred years ago was still true, the good of humanity could never truly be snuffed out. Besides those memories most of the other memories from her angel life were fuzzy and unclear.
"Hey Lily, you alright?" It was the sound of Azure's familiar voice that brought Lily back to reality.
"H-hu? Oh, y-yeah I'm fine."
"You sure? 'Cause you look like you've been trying to solve some really hard cross word puzzle for the past four hours." Azure giggled. Azure could probably guess what Lily was thinking about, so Azure thought the best she could do would be to try to lighten Lily's mood. Azure would never know and could never match what Lily's been through, but what she could do was help Lily deal with it. Azure kinda felt like it was her duty to do at least that for Lily.
