~Gals Being Pals~

Y/n

"Do you know how people sing songs on road trips?"

"Mhmm", I hum.

"We should play that game where someone sings a song and the other person guesses what it is," Camila giddily shifts in her seat as the moon illuminates her skin tone.

"Okay you start", I smile as I drive down the curving road with ease.

"Hmm okay. erm... ooh I know! Gimmee some lovin early in the morning, I just woke up with this appetite", she sings softly.

"I have no earthly idea what that song could possibly be," I chuckle after a moment of thought.

"Tell me you're joking," Camila stares at me in disbelief.

I seal my lips and loosen my grip of the steering wheel just enough to relax and maintain control of the vehicle.

"Okay, since you CLEARLY have no taste in music, I am going to help you out," she says as she connects her phone to the aux.

"Excuse you, ma'am! I will have you know I happen to have expert taste in music-"

"SHHHHHHH! It's starting," she whisper yells.

I sigh and shake my head as the song begins to fill the car.

~~~~
"Okay your turn," Camila turns from her back and onto her side to face me
"Gosh, I don't know if I have any stories left to tell."
"Okay, I know you have the mind of a senior citizen but you can't have the life of one too," Camila teases.
"You know, you talk a lot of shit for someone who puked during their first kiss," I playfully glare.
"Ah screw you that's still a sensitive topic," she hides her face in her hands, trying to fight off a smile which makes me laugh. About an hour into the drive we stopped in the town infamously know as Riverdale and decided to go to Pop's Choc lit shop just sit and talk. We have been here for hours, losing track of time, sipping on milkshakes and just telling the stories of our life.
"Well, years ago I used to live here. It's kinda in the middle of nowhere, so it's the kinda town where everybody knows everybody. One day this girl came to town, but she was all alone. Mind you, we were both like fifteen at the time-"
"Is this the story of your "Passionate ex"?
"No, a different ex. This ex was my very first love... Anyway, I gave her shelter. She explained she was running away from bad people. I couldn't leave her to die! So I hid her in my garage. We used to hang out together in every free moment I had..."
"Toni, there are a million and one mosquitos out here," I whisper yell.
"SHHH! Keep it down this is a top-secret mission!"
I pout and do my best to be as stealth as possible, hiding behind the tall grass alongside Toni.
"Are you sure we should be doing this? "
"100 dollars says yes. I am a very professional business woman... you don't have to help me Y/n/n... of course, you did promise to help me with anything after you ruined my serpent jacket," she smirks smugly.
"That was an Accident," I whine.
"I know. But you made the promise not me," she giggles.
"Fucking dork," I laugh softly.
"Whatever- THERE HE IS," she whisper yells and points to the brown haired boy who was currently kissing some girl who Toni had previously told me was not his girlfriend.
"He is kinda cute," I joke just to piss her off. She glares at me and hands me the bucket of syrup and bird feathers.
I smirk to myself before tiptoeing over to the clearly distracted people before dumping the syrup over them. I ignore them as the split apart and start yelling profanities while I pour the feathers over them. I then start running as fast as I can, past Toni who is laughing and taking the incriminating photos of the scene. I assume they started chasing after her and me because it's not very long before Toni catches up to me as we run for our lives to our bikes. We get on and start pedaling as quickly as we can all the way to her client's home, losing the cheating boy and his accomplice along the way.
After a while, Toni returns to me with a blue Benjamin in her hand and a smile on her face.
"A job well done my friend," she chuckles as she hugs me.
"You deserve it, T," I grin as we both get on our bikes once more, peddling towards my home.
"I can split this if you want," she offers.
Her words catch me off guard. The last thing I want is her money. Simply spending time with her has always been more than enough for me.
"What? T no! That money is yours. You know I can't take money from you," I smile over at her.
"You do some much for me. I really feel bad because you won't let me give you anything in return," she mumbles.
"Toni, you're friendship means more to me than money ever could," I say truthfully.
She smiles and avoids looking at me, most likely to hide the small blush rising on her cheeks. She fails because I still see it and smile to myself.
soon we get back home and once we are in the garage, I play one of her favorite animated movies on Netflix and we cuddle on the couch.
"You know... I finally have enough for that motorcycle I have been saving up for," she says as her head rests on my shoulder.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah... I was thinking maybe you and I could leave this town together... I know its a lot to ask but don't you think it would be fun?"
"Well, yeah but... why would you wanna go with me?"
"I don't know... I guess I just like you," she mumbles.
"Like me? Like- like me like me?"
she raises her eyebrows at me and stares up into my eyes with amusement. Within an instant, before I can react she leans forward and softly pecks my lips. It was innocent, soft, gentle, and sweet. And while it lasted for only a moment, my first kiss produced feelings in me that I knew I would never forget...
" -She was my first kiss. My first time, my first love, and even my first heartbreak. We never did run away together. Unfortunately, I had to be the one to leave. My family moved to my dad's job. We tried to make long distance work but I knew I was hurting her more than I could bear by not being with her. So, we ended it."
"Wow. Do you uh- do you keep in contact with her or?"
"No. I haven't heard from her in years actually," I smile sadly.
"I'm sorry," Camila sympathizes.
"Don't be, it happens."
After a moment of tense silence, I feel a soft hand being placed over mine.
Camila is smiling at me with those doe brown eyes and I feel my heart accelerating ever so slightly.
Suddenly it comes to my attention that the sun is very faintly beginning to rise.
"Shit, we need to get back to camp!"
"I can't believe we spent the whole night here," Camila gasps as we slip out of the booth. I leave a 20 on the red table and jog out to the car.
I start the engine and as I begin to pull out of the parking lot I hear so voices frantically yelling which causes me to stop the vehicle.
"STOP! STOP PLEASE STOP!"
My jaw drops as the two figures run up to the car. One face is instantly identified and it makes my chest tighten.
Camila rolls down her window and the pink haired girl leans down to talk to her.
"Hey uh... got a ride for two more," she timidly asks.
I can feel Camila look over at me while my vision is trained on the shop in front of me.
"We are going to a camp-"
"- Camp Naya Toshima right? Our girlfriends go there and we don't know how to get there," the boy says.
"Well, I don't mind but what do you think Y/n," Camila asks innocently.
"Yeah, what do you say Y/n/n?"
At the nickname, I finally turn to make eye contact with my very first love.
"Long time no see huh Toni?"
OH SHITTTTTTTTTTTTTT
