What is up with MELEN?!?
"OMG. 'Late Girl' actually got on the bus on time!"
"I know right! This is a shocker!"
And to that, I laugh. Kathy P gave me a smile.
When I get on the bus every day except on Mondays and Thursdays, I sit with Kathy. It is a thing we got used to. We observe everything around us and keep up to date about the latest gossip. We would sit down, and then impatiently wait for the bus to leave. It would get so crowded on our bus. Then next thing you know, Late Girl is the last to board the bus. My brother informed me that her name was Elizabeth. But it didn't matter. She is always late, annoying, and always causes trouble on the bus by trying to find a seat when all of us are already packed like sardines.
But on that Friday before spring break, she was already sitting there in the seat in front of us.
Kathy gave me a glance that read stop laughing. I understood because Late Girl was looking back at us with a glare on her face. I immediately stopped. The only reason Elizabeth is important to the story is because she was sitting next to someone who I hated.
And no it wasn't Alen. (Ha! :P)
She sat next to Clark (who I think is her cousin) and worst of all, Richards.
I hate Richards. He is so annoying during SS and is friends with Alen. That was all I needed to judge him.
So on this bus ride, he was being a butthole as usual. He was being loud and rough housing with Clark. I felt bad for the bus driver for having to deal with him everyday. At that moment, he was talking to Clark about being in "dumb science" (which is regular science). I listened to his conversation since I heard him say "Mrs. Jagger" multiple times. I wanted to know if there was anything useful about this conversation to, you know, report back to her. But it was getting close to my stop. I was then minding my own business until I heard him say something else.
"Since I have Mrs. Jagger, I feel smart," he told Clark. "Isn't that right Melissa?"
My heart stopped. He knew I was listening all along. But I'm pretty sure he knows I'm in Earth Science. I just responded with a "Yeah, that's right."
He proceeded to talk (to Clark) and I saw that my stop was a couple houses away. Thank God I can leave. The bus was slowing down now, and I got up. I would just walk out and it would be nothing interesting. But Richards decided to tell everyone something before I got off. Of course, it had to involve me.
He looked at me and said, very loudly: " Hey everyone! Why don't Melissa Graley and Alen Newman sit next to each other?!
What disturbed me the most was that he said it in a flirty tone. My whole being stops, shocked, but at the same time, suspicious. He sees my bewilderment and takes this as a sign to repeat himself, but even louder than before. He does and both Mallark and Alen look at me. Mallark has a smirk, and is chuckling. Then I hear more people start doing so as well. I feel the heat rise to my face. Then I looked at Alen, expecting to see his face, but he glanced away. I cringed at what he said. I felt it inside me and I knew; I was angry. It wasn't going to take long for some sh*t to go down.
So I retorted to Richards, "Why don't you move your fat a** so I can get out of the bus!"
Behind me, I hear a roar of laughter. I pushed my way past Richards and continued on my way. As I was walking, I pass Mallark and Alen. Like an annoying... I don't know,... fanboy?... he starts yelling my name.
"Bye Melissa! Bye Melissa! Bye Melissa!"
"Bye Mallark." I say annoyed and thankfully, he stopped.
But I mainly wanted to see Alen. I wanted to see his reaction to what Richards said. When I reached up next to where he was sitting (with Mallark) I say his name. I know he heard. He looks up at me and his face, surprisingly, flushes as I look into his eyes. I felt the urge to leave at that moment. I practically sprint out of the bus.
When I get off, I greet my siblings and went upstairs. I greet my mom in the living room, then proceed up more stairs to my room. I was mainly tired, and confused. Because all during that week, I faced a lot of Alen's friends saying something about "us" out loud. Some others, who weren't any of our friends, did as well. This lead me to the conclusion that many are supporting a new school ship: Melen. And I had a lot of evidence as well that I have to explain.
But of course, that is for another story. Another very long story.
