The 9 o' clock Buddy (Continued)

This emoji can practically explain it all.

"You got this for Number 4 right?"

"Yep. Tell me what you got for the next one."

"I got A. You got that too?"

"Yep."

Really, nothing interesting was going on. It was just him asking me questions, or vice versa. Then we both got up to a certain question that we both didn't know the answer to.

"I think the answer is 1." Alen says.

We were technically working with each other, us two with Moe and Mary Anne, and they all decided to circle that answer.

But I disagreed.

"Really, because I ruled off that answer on the bat."

"Oh you just got owned son!" (You can guess who that was.)

"Roasted!" yells out Mary Anne, and after that, she giggles. Of course, they already know that I despised Alen. It felt good to be in power over him.

"Well, because based on the ESRT, the lithosphere is less dense than the hydrosphere, since it has a density of 2.9 and the ocean, 3.2."

By this time, I regreted the words that came out of my mouth. We sat there, only ruling out answers, and we were getting no work done whatsoever. I felt awkward, and Alen was looking at me waiting impatiently for the answer did not help. So I seperated from the group to our teacher.

"Mrs. Jagger, I don't understand how to do this. Is the correct answer 2 or 4?"

"No, it isn't any of those."

"What! But why?!?"

"Because that isn't in increasing order."

I really love Mrs. Jagger and all, because she is the best teacher I have ever met. I grew attached to her and practically consider her like an aunt to me. She is hilarious and a great listener (especially during all those study halls when I had therapy sessions with her. She uppered my self esteem and I felt good for the rest of the day when something just didn't go right). She looks forward to talking to me every day, and today was no exception.

"Melissa, where did you get the idea that the lithosphere is less dense than the hydrosphere?"

"In the ESRT."

"Show me."

(After borrowing a friend's) "Here."

"What is the density of water?"

I responded " Uh... 1."

"Aren't these greater than one?" She pointed to my so called evidence in the ESRT.

"OHH! I was looking at continental and oceanic crust!"

"So the correct answer is choice 1."

But then it hit me. I have to go back to our group and admit I was wrong and Alen... was right.

Alen sees me coming back after talking to Mrs. Jagger. "Melissa, what's the answer?"

At this moment, I bet my faced flushed. Mrs. Jagger was watching it all, since she knows how I feel about Alen. I looked back at her, and she understood why I dreaded going back to my group. Alen kept on watching my every move.

"Melissa, don't you dare tell me-"

But I didn't need to say anything. He saw me erasing and he knew. He was right all along. I was wrong.

"You just got owned by Alen, Melissa! How do you feel?" Moe taunted.

"Oh shut up Moe."

Mary Anne says, "This is the best battle I have ever seen!" She continues to laugh.

I swear, I can feel him smirking, once again. Then Alen went back to his seat to get his calculator since we needed to use one for another question. We were all to lazy to do it. Once he left, I relaxed.

"Thank God he is gone." I breathed a sigh of relief and felt comfortable once again.

"What did you say?!?" Moe asked me in surprise.

"She just said 'Thank God he's gone'!" Mary Anne answered.

When Alen came back, they were excited to tell him. He looked playfully offended and the two ( Moe and Mary) continued to laugh.

"ROASTED!" they shouted in unison.

I smiled, a small smile. For some reason it felt good to have said that. I felt like I , once again, had the upper hand. That was good.
