Chapter 30 - Epilogue
"Hello? Is this the hospital? My wife is bleeding very badly and we're on our way now.... In about 5 minutes." Baekhyun was driving whilst making a phone call.
In the middle of the night Taeyeon has complained of very bad cramps and then when she had got up to use the bathroom when a sudden gush of blood frightened the two of them.
Luckily they had prepared the bag of necessities in lieu of their child's arrival and wasted no time in getting into their car.
"We'll reach soon, just a few turns." Baekhyun kissed her hand as a gesture to comfort and assure her that she'll be fine.
But who was he kidding, his wife is in so much pain and losing blood slowly as the bleeding had relatively stopped, he was so afraid that things would go wrong.
He shook his head to clear those negative thoughts. Making a sharp turn into the car park, he was able to find a parking spot directly in front of the basement entrance of the hospital.
Nurses were waiting for them with a wheelchair. Baekhyun carried Taeyeon bridal style and carefully sat her down. They wheeled her into one of the wards and got her to lie on the bed.
The staff got busy as they hooked all sorts of things onto Taeyeon who weakly opened her eyes. Her stomach was cramping with contractions and it was killing her.
"We'll see how far she's dilated, then we can proceed with natural birth after some time; but if she isn't dilated enough after a few hours, we'll have to go for C-section." The female doctor in charge informed them.
She then proceed to remove Taeyeon's pants to check, and just what she had expected, Taeyeon was not yet dilated enough.
She then got the ultrasound machine to check the position of the foetus- there's nothing wrong. However, the placenta had separated, thus causing the bleeding.
"We'll come back and check after a few hours. If things don't turn out to well, we'll have to go with C-section."
A few hours later...
Taeyeon had kept yawning, and it was a sign of anemia. Within the few hours she had started to bleed even more.
She was transported to the surgery room after discussions. Her body was not ready for the natural option.
Baekhyun could only wait outside nervously. He had read up about births and was especially concerned about C-sections.
It'll take a much longer recovery period for Taeyeon to fully heal than the natural one. He couldn't bear to see her in pain.
In the midst of his worries, a baby's cries sounded in his ears. He shed a few tears of joy before wiping them away.
He was ready to meet his Princess.
5 months back....
"Hyun! Does this dress fit? Does it look nice? The bump..." Taeyeon whined as she looked at herself through the mirror.
"You look stunning in all the dresses her, Tae. You need to stop worrying." Baekhyun smiled warmly.
"The bump is bothering me. I told you I wanted the wedding earlier before I started to show." Taeyeon pouted as she rubbed her belly.
"I was busy with work you know. And isn't nice to be with our little one on our special day? We can reveal to everyone too." Baekhyun stood up from the couch to hug Taeyeon, who nodded in his chest.
"So, which one did you like the most?" He looked down at her.
"The first one." She smiled shyly.
"The first one it is then." Baekhyun signalled to the worker who had helped Taeyeon with her fitting.
"Since we have taken her measurements, we'll alter the dress as soon as possible to meet the deadline. Do fill in the form at the reception counter and make your payment." The staff bowed before taking her leave.
"I can't wait!!" Taeyeon was squirming around as she smiled widely in delight. She felt a small kick and winced a little, alarming Baekhyun a little.
"Do you think it's a boy or girl?" Baekhyun asked, as they were making the payment at the counter.
"I hope it's a boy." Taeyeon answered.
"I think it's a girl." Baekhyun retorted.
Their argument began heating up to the point where they asked the staff at the counter which was better, catching the lady off guard.
"I'm telling you it's a girl."
"No. I'm the one carrying the child. I know this. It's called mother instincts." Baekhyun didn't have anything to retort back so he kept silent, but that did not mean defeat.
On their wedding day...
"Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Byun. You may now kiss." The pastor had a warm smile on his face as he acknowledged the two as a married couple.
The newlywed couple now shared a shy kiss, earning cheers and claps from the guests.
Baekhyun then took the mic and addressed the guests.
"Waiters, mind if you serve the guests." Baekhyun motioned to the head waiter.
The lights dimmed as the waiters served the guests each a round cake, the icing on the outside a pretty shade of purple.
"Now I want everyone to take a bite." The guests followed as instructed. When they saw what was inside, they cheered happily.
"Now, on the count of three, I need all of you to shout the colour you see on the inside. 1, 2, 3!"
"PINK!!" The guests shouted with enthusiasm.
Some were puzzled as to why they were served the cake and why it was purple.
"IT'S A GIRL!" Someone shouted from the back of the ballroom.
"Bingo! We're expecting a beautiful girl." Baekhyun looked to his beautiful wife.
"And she'll be as beautiful as my wife." Baekhyun leaned his forehead against Taeyeon's, their noses touching.
"I love you, my beautiful Queen."
"I love you too, my handsome King."
