Chapter 25 - Distant

A few days later....

At school...

"Taeyeo- OH MY GOD. What happened to you? Did you get thinner? You've been MIA for who knows how long and you come back, like this? Were you sick? You never replied our messages in the group." Tiffany was horrified at how bad her best friend's complexion was.

She could see something was up but didn't dare ask any further.

"Yea... I was kinda sick, lost my appetite..." Taeyeon didn't want to talk anymore so she kept quiet.

"That explains the drastic weight loss. Come on let's get to class. The rest misses you." Tiffany held onto Taeyeon's arm as the walked to their classroom. Taeyeon could only return a small smile.

As they walked back to class, they didn't notice Baekhyun was watching them from far.

Baekhyun's head was filled with worry.

How can she be so thin? Is she not eating right? She looks too lifeless it's killing me.

Baekhyun thought and anger started boiling within him. The more he thought about his father, the more he felt the need to punch someone or something.

Just then, he received a text.

It was Taeyeon's number.

'Let's break up.' The text read.

Baekhyun felt his world crashing down on him. He looked back at where he last saw Taeyeon.

He threw his phone on the floor and stepped on it continuously, making sure it broke into tiny pieces of glass.

"Please stop... What did I ever do to you?" A boy cowered in fear as he was continuously tortured by Baekhyun's fists and kicks.

"Nothing. I just needed to vent my anger and you came into my sight. I thought *huff* you'd be perfect." He threw more punches.

"STOP! What do you think you're doing?" Baekhyun paused for a moment at the sound of the voice he recognised so well.

He turned around to face the person he longed for. He scoffed at what she said. Looking behind her, he saw bodyguards.

"Trying to be the good person here? Oops seems like I was in the wrong." He mocked with both his hands up, still angry and upset at the text she had sent to him.

"If you need to vent your anger, there's always a punching bag in the gym. The guy isn't. He didn't even do anything wrong to you." Taeyeon gave a disgusted glare as she helped the bruised boy up.

"Yah Kim Tae Yeon. Watch yourself. Don't offend me further. I might even hurt you." Baekhyun warned as he stepped closer to her.

"Try it then. Hurt me." Taeyeon challenged. Baekhyun raised his arm ready to give her a slap across the face but stopped midway.

He couldn't do it.

No matter how much he was hurting inside, he could not hurt her - because he knows, that she's hurting inside as much as he was.

"Don't you ever act like a jerk because it makes you disgusting, just like back then." Taeyeon turned around to walk away.

"I'm sorry but this is the only way to protect you." Taeyeon whispered to herself as a tear fell. She hastily wiped it away before letting the bodyguards bring her away.

"So? Anything to report?" Taeyeon's mother looked at the bodyguard in question.

"Not much, ma'am. Taeyeon only met him briefly at school but her tone when speaking to him was a very cold one." The bodyguard reported.

"Until the wedding, keep her under check. We can't let her meet him." Taeyeon's mother crossed her arms as she laid back into the chair.

Just then the door flung open, revealing Taeyeon. Her mother sat back up and excused the bodyguard who bowed before leaving.

Taeyeon walked towards her mother. Her mother looked at her.

"Remove me from the family registry."
