Tragedy

May 2022

A stretcher was being rolled down a long hallway. A Lombax was on it. Ratchet was being rushed to the Emergency Room and into surgery. He had a minor head injury, a fractured shoulder, and his left leg is broken.

Ratchet was at the go-karting track with his friends from work. He didn't see the first turn on the second lap and he spun out, causing his Go-Kart to flip twice.

Thank god he wore a helmet.

He got into the room, the doctors lifted him off of the stretcher and into a bed.

Rivet got the call. She picked up the phone. It was one of his friends.

"Rivet. You need to get to Los Angeles Community Hospital—It's Ratchet, we were Go-Karting, and he flipped!"

his co-worker, Terry said in a panic, racing down LA to get to the hospital,with four of his other friends in the car with him.

Rivet said nothing, but dropped her notepad and pen and raced out the door and into her car.

His friends got to Los Angeles Community Hospital now they were waiting for him to get out of surgery. Then the automatic doors opened as Rivet rushed in. The female Lmbax looked at his friends.

"Where is Ratchet?!" Rivet asked, in a panic.

"He's in the Emergency Room getting surgery." One of his friends, named Lance said.

Rivet sighed. All she and his friends had to do now was wait. Then she got a call.

"Hey, Roy, and you and RJ come to Los Angeles Community Hospital?" she asked.

"Sure," Roy said. "But why?"

"Your dad has been involved in a Go-Karting accident."

When Roy heard that, he was shocked, but he got the message.

"Understood, we'll get there," he said, hanging up.

Rivet hung up the phone, she sighed as she sat there. All they could do was wait for the doctors to finish up and give them the news.

About two hours of waiting. The doctor walked out and they explained the situation of Ratchet's condition

Rivet then walked into the room. She saw him. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was normal. The heart rate monitor beeped steadily. Rivet took a chair, picked up his furred limp hand, and held it.

"Please, Chet... wake up..." she said as she put her robotic hand on his fuzzy head. She bent down and kissed him. Then, by some miracle. His green eyes opened.

"R-Riv?..." he rasped as he saw his wife standing there in her work uniform.

"Yeah... it's me, Rachy... how are you feeling?" she asked softly. Stroking his fuzzy cheek.

"I.... I'm okay," he said.

"That's because of the medicine they gave you so you wouldn't feel the pain," Lance said.

"Oh... that's nice," he said sarcastically then he sighed.

Then the door opened. Two Lombaxes ran in. One had Ratchet's fur color and one had Rivet's but one of them had a bushy tail.

"Dad!" Roy said as he walked up to him with his brother. RJ, Ratchet smiled, and Roy looked down at him with his blue eyes. Then RJ broke the silence.

"Dude! What happened to you?!"

"Well..." he started telling the story.

Ratchet was racing with his friends at Go Kart World in Carson, California, which was thirty-six minutes from Los Angeles. He got strapped in and ready to race.

When he got to the second turn on the second lap. He spun out. Hitting his arm on the wall and his kart flipped over twice. Someone waved out the yellow flag meaning a caution on the track.

"RATCHET!" his friends yelled. He wasn't moving

"Lance, call 9-1-1." one of his friends said.

He nodded and Terry checked up on him. He saw that the small Lombax's body was facing the opposite direction. The vehicle was still intact. Terry then rolled him over and saw how bad it was.

"Guys, he's not moving!" Terry said in a panic.

"What do you mean, Ratchet! Bro!" one of his friends tried to shake him awake. The impact knocked him unconscious.

Not so long after, the paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital.

"We're so glad you're okay, Chet. That's all that matters." Rivet kissed him on his fluffy hand.

"Yeah, bruh you scared us half to death!" Lance said, clapping him on the shoulder.

A few hours later. Everyone left, Ratchet had to stay there until tomorrow to check up on him. Then he can go home.
